QUOTE(havocx @ Oct 21 2010, 09:43 AM) You can buy using Malaysian CC. Else you can also use Paypal. Kindle, however because of copyright of certain books, may not allow purchase of books outside of the US. That's not really a problem though. 1. You can always purchase using Malaysian CC Amazon Gift Cards. Register these cards to US address (mine is to the White House 2. Some books cant be purchased because of IP address limitation. If youre using a VPN service or proxy reroute service, you can still proceed to buy these books. Hope that helps cant wait to read the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy |

QUOTE(svage98 @ Oct 21 2010, 12:09 PM) Wow so tempting...I'm interested but not getting it now...thinking of getting it near Christmas. Are you gonna open the bulk until December? Right, unfortunately no, just actually running this last bulk to get one for a friend who missed out on the first bulk. Rave reviews from the first bulk is tempting him to get one. Ironically, its also for Christmas, early preparation helps QUOTE(aztoys @ Oct 21 2010, 01:39 PM) So i need to register a new Amazon acc. and register it under a random US address? must my e-mail be registered under the same random US address? Amazon account is required for your use on getting the Kindle ebooks on whispersync. If you dont want the specific Kindle ebooks, ie using all the other free ebooks out there then you dont need to get an Amazon account. If you already have an Amazon account but with Malaysian address, thats fine too, except that for some copyrighted book Amazon does not allow non US account or non US ip to download the books.cant wait to read the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy But for everything else on the net, free ebooks and stuff, thats all there for you to get it in into the Kindle buddy. Let me know if there's anything specific ie a picture of or a sample of that you wanna see and ill try to show ya. QUOTE(kAz @ Oct 21 2010, 02:01 PM) It works just fine, just like how 3G works for the iPad. Its not locked to any provider. Works globally.Worth getting, i personally dont think so, although forummer like ailinchia got one on my bulk. 3G allows you to sync books while youre in the middle of Langkawi away from your personal desktop and to surf the internet. You'll have to remember though that this sync will be for your books, at which before you left for Langkawi you would have already downloaded a few im sure. Kindle holds 13,000 books and even if synching gets you 1000 books also you would not be reading all 1000 im sure Next on Net Surfing, well, you remember its going to be in Black and White no ? The browsers pretty decent though and gets you through to the websites fast so yes if youre planning to surf the net whilst on the beach in Langkawi for instance, its an excellent choice. Hope that helps QUOTE(nrwahab @ Oct 21 2010, 03:13 PM) Nope, if you can see the specs for the Kindle 3G, its Unlocked for any service provider.Heh, i hope ailinchia can come in and share her experience |

Here i come..
If you're using Malaysian address for your Amazon account, you don't get any books at all. Even if you use other countries where Amazon deliver Kindle to, (eg: Thailand, Philippines) some of the books will be more expensive by USD2 compared to the US version. For Kindle 3g, you can't change the simcard (You can always hack it. And change some files inside Kindle). If you order from Amazon US, you get AT&T simcard inside your Kindle. Amazon pays for the roaming charges. If your Amazon account is registered to US address, you can use it to surf all websites (rather than a limited subset of websites). I haven't really used it yet, since I'm trying to avoid detection from Amazon that I'm outside US, but it works. If you're going to get books from Amazon, and you have 3G Kindle, make sure you choose the option "Transfer to your computer" rather than deliver to your Kindle directly. If you get the books using the 3G, you will be charged with USD2 per book delivered through 3G. That's the international Whispernet charges. |

Haha thanks for the info on the 3G ailinchia, its not really hacking but jailbreaking. Ive already done that on mine, nothing really major to do really and allows for some customization of the Kindle but WOW Amazon is the one paying for the roaming charges. Cool ! |

is it that the 3G roaming issues or book distributor issues that disallow amazon to cover their business area to our country? It seem that there is no official explanation for this. Does anyone know why they do that? Because it is really ridiculous that they can ship to Zibabwe or Angola and not our country. Just because their money value is bigger than us?

Just so that you know, Amazon don't deliver to Singapore too.
From what I read, it may be because of the censorship that our government has. Not sure though.. All rumors. |

Actually its not the coverage of AT&T over here since remember, we can use our personal sim card as well, Digi, Maxis, Celcom and the rarely heard UMobile hehe.. Its actually the book distribution. Even on Amazon.com the main US site, some books cant be delivered to US based Kindle simply because they are copyrighted to only be distributed to the UK. So there's that limitation there. Even in Malaysia erm....Playboy is not allowed to be distributed so eheh officially we cant get it, but enterprising individuals...well, they could get em if they wanted to hehe QUOTE(ailinchia @ Oct 21 2010, 10:36 PM) Just so that you know, Amazon don't deliver to Singapore too. Thanks Havocx,
Let me post the answers from you to my question in our PM exchanges. ------------- So here's the benefits of 3G in Malaysia. Amazon uses Whyspernet for synching, ie your books that you have purchased, would be able to synchronize even if youre without Wifi connection. Meaning you'll always have access to your books and buying new books whenever you feel like it. Also with 3G since Kindle comes with a browser, you'll be able to access websites and data when you are on the move at anytime you please. Since Kindle has a super long battery life, youre 3G will last about 15 days without needing recharging if youre always surfing using 3G. Its also not locked to any service providers. Now the cons : My personal thoughts. Kindle holds 33,000 books. Synching in an extra 1000 books before you go to a trip up Mount Kinabalu will be waaay more books than you can finish. Also, if you happen to bring the Kindle up, and still want to sync, remember ebooks are just about 50kb for a 950page book, it will be a super quick sync, something you would already do earlier before going up the mountain smile.gif Next on browsing. Nowadays you can also browse on your mobile phone. The Kindle has a decent browser, in fact its quite good, except you have to remember it will be in black and white. So yes you can surf the net, do your banking online and things like that, but the experience may not be as fulfilling since the screen is just black and white. But of course thats my personal thoughts only, the only person i know with a Kindle 3G on Lowyat forum is ailinchia, she visits the thread too now and then, perhaps you can see her responses to help you decide, if you ask me, and my personal use of Kindle, the 3G would be wasted on me. nod.gif ------------- Added on October 22, 2010, 4:35 pmHavocx, What's "Kindle DM List (*Special Bulk)" ? Just a warning, if you use 3G to sync with Whispernet (outside of US), it's USD2 per book.
I picked the 3G version for fun. Other than that, I don't really see a point of getting 3G version if you're just going to use it locally. Some phones can even act as an hotspot so you can just connect your kindle to your phone. |

I might, since I would wanna be getting some stuff then as well. Might however is a relative unknown at this time. Im not gonna make money with this Bulk, Im only doing the second round since another colleague missed out on the Kindle's the first time round, thus I volunteered another round. This would likely be the last bulk for Kindle's at least from me. I might start on another Bulk if I can get some time away from work. Thanks for asking though, let me know if you'd like to ride on this one too
Personally though, as the single best item on sales for Amazon, its highly unlikely they will be part of the Black Friday sale. Even then, if it is, we'll also need to consider the wait time to get the Kindle's since the folks in the US may be first on it hence running it to low stocks by then. Just my thoughts. Allrighty folks, in expectation of a possible Black Friday and Halloween rush for the Kindle's I've decided to start with payment requests earlier so we can have a head start to that rush and get the orders in by hopefully the 1st week or early 2nd week of Nov. Any of you other folks interested, just to let you guys know I'm planning to wrap it up soon.
DM Stealth Bulk folks, once I confirm from my buddy he'll be able to do a walk in to the stores to get the DM's, I ll open a specific bulk thread for it just like the original DM bulk. Thanks again guys |

Just to share to anyone who has yet to buy this Kindle, I've received mine yesterday from havocx via COD at Ipoh and believe me this Kindle is amazing!
I really thanked havocx for a 5 star service from the start of my enquiry until the day it came to me becoz without all of his continous support, advices & infos I don't think I'll be able purchase it safely & exactly as I imagined.. This is not to 'bodek' him ok but trust me, you can ask other succesfull buyers as well & I can guarantee they'll say the same... I'm not the kind who'll buy anything online with large cash amount at risk so thank goodness it really paid off... As for the Kindle, the whole package is beyond my expectations especially on its screen & new e-ink technology which I never thought was so 'book-like'. I was expecting another of those gadget that's either a mini remake of the iPads, or another hyped up ebook reader with those typical LCD screens..but I was wrong! Kindle 3 is on a class of its own... I was so impressed yesterday that I shockingly made another order..hehehe.. Well if you want more detailed description you'll just have to buy it to see for yourself...pity this is the last bulk... Again congrats to havocx for the excellent service & looking forward to deal with him again! |
