As you may already know, Amazon will not ship these devices to Malaysia although once you have it you'll be able to use with any eBooks !
Since Im ordering 2 units in I thought I'd bring in this Bulk to help you guys in getting one for yourselves as well as to spread the cost of shipping between us.
Lets see what we have.

Status : Multiple Bulks are now open for orders! Details below

Frequently Asked Question, please read before ordering
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

How this works ?
This is how the bulk works:
Ill only open this bulk for about a week , till have a look below to see updates . Ill then proceed with the order from there.
* Bulk 8 is collecting orders now.

1) First lookup all the items you'd want, this can be anything from Amazon as well. Confirm your order with me.
After confirming your order, I'll PM you my banking details.
2) Bulk Order will close once we reach the 10 persons. It will still proceed even if there is less folks than that.
3) You will receive a request to make full payment if not already done so.
4) Ill proceed to have the items shipped from Amazon to my US contacts address.

They will be marked as Gift to ensure the Kindle is not registered under my Amazon account.
Be careful of this if you decide to join another bulk, make sure you have to have your Kindle marked as Gift,
else the Kindle and Content on it will be registered under your buyers Amazon account.

5) You will receive updates on the items progress.
5) Shipment will be sent via Courier to my Malaysian address.
6) Ill arrange for a COD or Courier the items to your preferred Malaysian location or address.

Current Order - Opening NOW till the dates shown at the bottom of this post!
Bulk will start again when there's enough interested parties.

When will it reach you?
After payment and the notifcation that order has been placed with Amazon,
the estimated maximum time frame will be about 3 weeks from date of payment. From my bulk though you can see the fastest was 7 days!

Warranty:
Warranty will be one year by Amazon. Ill help you with any claims if needed or your may proceed on the claims from your end.

Safe to Deal with me?
From my first bulk Ive got 2 units. Still received PM's requesting a second bulk, hence you see this.
Over 35 Kindles so far and im still going strong. Im here for the long run.
Please Notice the safe trader tag. I have been on this forum for quite a while now and have also an extensive trade history on this forum.
Ive dealt with a lot of individuals and most of my COD is done at the place where I work,
so easily you would be able to look for me for any concerns.

Dealing method:
COD or Shipping Im open to both! Shipping is however preferred for this item.
Shipping is preferred for this item not cuz I wanna run away or try to cheat you out of your hard earned money.
Time is money too. And sadly with my current schedule I find that it would be easier for me to ship this item.
Nevertheless I will surely make arrangements to suit both our times.

Reason for sale:
As per above. Im doing this bulk mainly to get 2 Kindle Units for my personal use. As the cost of shipping it over is very high,
I thought of perhaps having a shared transaction it may lighten my shipment load and realise your dreams to get the Kindle for yourselves

More Questions ?
PM me, SMS me @ 0126124840 or ask me here!

Please reserve your negative comments if any

I will watch this thread closely.. and try not to poison myself further... T_T
*
Haha sure thing buddy, too bad im way in too deep. Ill proceed by the 29th September anyway even without anyone joining in smile.gif
This is a bulk that im dedicating specifically to the Kindle.

They may not have the best prices at the moment and that's the reason Im hoping to share the shipping so that it can be lower for everyone.
I really want them. nod.gif

QUOTE(12H4M @ Sep 22 2010, 08:28 PM)
Hey I'm almost 90% interested...but just want to know about the battery maintenance here in Malaysia, I've read a review here AMAZON KINDLE REVIEW that says ( I quote below),

"After a year or two of moderate use, the battery will start to lose its ability to hold a charge...To replace Kindle's battery, you must ship your Kindle to Amazon. Amazon's customer service told me that they ship you back a DIFFERENT kindle (though the same model as yours) with a new battery inside. I really don't like this, at all."

Is there any way we could solve this as they don't ship it to Malaysia so I don't know if they do it for this purpose either... hmm.gif
*
Heya buddy, yeah noticed this too, since the shipment's gonna be together with mine, once your's start to lose the charge, mine would too and if Im sending mine Ill get you in too. Besides, Amazon actually do ship to Malaysia just not Kindle. Im sure that for replacement's however since the buyer has purchased and registered the Kindle (say a US citizen now an expat to Malaysia), something happens to the battery, you ship back to them, they would honor shipping back the item to Malaysia, else, Im sure ill still be around in this forum in the next 2 years, ill help you with a US address, if youre worried about me disappearing, hey notice Ive been here since 2003 ? nod.gif

Sounds good so far...err are you intending to get the cover as well? looking at the image above it sure looks really damn thin & fragile.. sweat.gif
*
Right now perhaps not, the cover looks to be a little costly too, of course if youre interested I can quote you the price into the shipment too.
My experience of having the iPad at home, even normal covers will suffice, one of the 2 iPads I have runs with just a normal cloth slip on cover. Just like these...

user posted image

It goes well in my bag to the office, of course Ive removed any potential hard and sharp objects from my briefcase beforehand.
Same thing I plan to do with the Kindle smile.gif
In case youre wondering, why Kindle when I have the iPad, have you seen the latest Kindle advert ? Where the guy is by the pool or by the beach and cant read on his Tablet ?
Exactly the reason, oh and the 1 month battery life on the single charge. Gotta love that ! smile.gif

Yeah you're right the cheapest cover price from Amazon is almost $35 USD (RM108)...guess I could find some compatible covers here...

I was considering the iPad before Kindle actually and I've heard that reading from the iPad or tablet PCs is almost the same as reading from your PC monitors for long hours...unless if you don't intend on doing the actual "book reading activities" then it's ok I guess..
*
Yep, two problems I faced reading the iPad in bed.
Too heavy and even under the lowest brightness its still painful to the eyes for long reading hours during the night.
A lot my colleagues experience having both the iPad, iPhone and Kindle and using it for reading all were unanimous that the Kindle is the runaway winner for reading.

QUOTE(Kal-el @ Sep 22 2010, 09:22 PM)
justt 1 question, why so expensive? amazon write 139$ USD, convert here also abut RM450.
*
Excellent question to which I know would come up, perhaps I sadly was not able to explain much in my earlier description.
Im hiding nothing smile.gif Youre right its only USD 139 and shipping to any US location is Free, so shipping to my US colleagues address is free.

Trouble starts when I wanted to get them in to Malaysia, to ensure that they get here safe only Fedex or DHL was the only option. (Super Reliable and Safest but also not so cheap)
Secondly, insurance, duties and taxes needed to be paid in the US for it. ( Another Hurdle, something that cannot be avoided in the US)

Finally as mentioned shipping is calculated either by weight or volumetric weight whichever is higher.
For my 2 Kindle's already there at my colleagues house the volumetric weight for them is 1.89 kg, heavy when you calculate Kindle is only 248grams!
There could also be a chance for Customs Tax once it drops in to Malaysia.

Hence my offer for Bulk.
The more folks we have the lower the final charges, sharing the cost. I dont believe it will be more than RM700.
If its cheaper Ill definitely return the difference, Im not here to make money out of shipping smile.gif

If you look for them in eBay, you'll find they run for more than Im offering wink.gif
I may not be able to match the Full Time Bulk Orders from this site but Im hoping to be able to.
At least for mine, the wait time is shorter and its specific only to Kindle 3 Wifi Only notworthy.gif

any info about the cover for this product?
*
Sure thing buddy, ill PM you my details ie Banking account, name and contact details.
Ill then wait for your payment.
On the 29th Ill proceed with the order from Amazon.
Item should be sent to my colleagues house in 3 working days. From there its about 6 working days to reach our Kampung smile.gif
Ill then proceed to courier the item or to arrange COD with your kindself.

For the cover, im not really sure what youre looking for? If its insurance cover, thats going to be in the shipping charges.
For actual cover for the item, youve seen what I use.
If you would like the cover from Amazon, that will be fine too, just choose the cover you like and let me know, ill quote you the final price in RM. wink.gif
They will come in the same shipment.

QUOTE(12H4M @ Sep 22 2010, 09:39 PM)
Once arrived here, what courier service you're using to send to the buyer's home address?...I don't know if Poslaju is that reliable though as they will be sent by the normal postman on his motorbike here (Perak)...can't imagine what the Kindle will go through... sweat.gif
*
No way im using Poslaju. (No offense abang posmen)
Im planning to use either CityLink, Kangaroo Express or Nationwide Courier to send the item over. Else Im going to go with Fedex and DHL.
At least they have a better insurance coverage and more reliable.

Also actually if by Perak you mean Ipoh, we can even COD ! smile.gif My hometown's Ipoh and I may drop by with the shipment. thumbup.gif

Say, I was doing some research on Kindle Casings. Here's a link that you guys may be interested in.
How To Pick Kindle Case.
Im planning to only use the normal Neoprene case for my Kindle, perhaps getting a screen protector for it as my only protection after reading that
out. I think I should be able to get them over to you guys too smile.gif

can show us the neoprene case and the screen protector?

and will the screen protector disrupt our reading ability?
*
Haha actually, there's a lot of sample. One of them shown below

user posted image

These are expensive though, about USD 34 each. I thought of using the Neoprene case that im also using for my Ipad. An easy way to imagine them is the easy slip on cover, a sleeve if you must. There are many neoprene sleeves to choose from. They all offer strong protection due to the strength of the neoprene fabric. But few are made to fit the Kindle 3 quite so well, doesnt matter, a 7" sleeve or 10" will do just fine. Even though there is no zipper the device is held so tightly that you never feel any likelihood of it falling free. The Kindle only comes out when you want it to. But the lack of zipper also makes the whole thing super easy, slip your Reader in and out without any fuss.

For the screen protector, im sure it will not disrupt our reading ability, havent had one yet myself to test and confirm though, still awaiting for this shipment in smile.gif

*
Heya buddy, I may be open to that suggestion, but lets work it via PM.
Remember Im not doing this for profit but to cut my shipping charges and wait time to bring it in to Malaysia, for some bulk,
I will have to rely on other materials being collected and only once everyone makes payment will they start to ship in.
This Kindle Bulk is just the Kindle's and any other items that you might wanna get at the same time from Amazon.

Since Im not trying to make a profit, Ill try my best to accomodate your request.

Oh I forgot to ask about the power adapter, do I need to buy the UK spec (3 pins) for it?...I read that the order comes with a US version (doesn't fit here in M'sia)...
*
As per your PM, ill add the Belkin Neoprene Kindle Case order in smile.gif
For the power adapter dont worry too much about it, Kindle can be charged 2 ways, via direct power (no need of transformer) using its US plug or USB. US plug, you just need to get the adapter, about RM3.
No need to spend on getting a full blown power transformer or better yet, get a Plug head that can charge USB, and carry that along, that way while on the move you can plug the USB to
say car adapter, or a normal laptop for power.

BUT, why worry ? smile.gif Kindle lasts about a month on a full single charge without Wifi. Amazing huh ! drool.gif

http://www.amazon.com/CrazyOnDigital-Gener...5685595&sr=1-12
*
Hmm that screen cover looks okay, plus im sure we wont be able to find any similar sizes here. Its cheap too at 99cents,
only shipping's a bomb for it even within US, USD 2.94 for a 99cents product. I guess though if all of us want it,
I could combine all the 99cents and share the shipping for the USD 2.94.

Let me know via PM if you're up for it.

I know but based on some of the users' review it does a good job for Kindle 3!...as long as you don't require a snug fit case & use it only for protection & mobility then I think it's ok...you can read some of the reviews here: Customer Reviews
*
Good choice 12H4M, it looks to be the cheapest amongst the lot by Amazon anyway smile.gif
Else, you might wanna consider this, Kindle 3 Accesory Kit,
\it comes with the case, screen protector, car charger, and US protector plug. Any extra accesories order let me know before lunch
30th September 2010 okie. (Ill finalise placing orders then.)

QUOTE(praetorian @ Sep 29 2010, 06:04 PM)
Hi,
May I know what different type of ebook formats the kindle can read? Thanks in advance.
*
Kindle is compatible with a few file types. Most files have to be converted. Amazon provides you two ways to convert your files: you can either send attachments wirelessly to the device’s personal e-mail address, which will cost you $.10 per attachment or you can send them to a “free” Kindle e-mail address that you access via your Windows or Mac OS computer and then transfer the converted files to your Kindle manually via USB.

The original Kindle supported only unprotected Mobipocket books (MOBI, PRC), plain text files (TXT), Topaz format books (TPZ), and Amazon's proprietary DRM-restricted format (AZW). Version 2.3 firmware upgrade for Kindle 2 (U.S. and International) added native Portable Document Format (PDF) support.Earlier versions did not fully support PDF, but Amazon provided "experimental" conversion to the native AZW format, with the caveat that not all PDFs may format correctly. It does not support the EPUB ebook standard. Amazon offers an email-based service that will convert JPEG, GIF, PNG and BMP graphics to AZW.Amazon will also convert HTML pages and Microsoft Word (DOC) documents through the same email-based mechanism, which will send a Kindle-formatted file to the device directly for $0.15 per MB or to a personal e-mail account for free. These services can be accessed by sending emails to <kindleusername>@kindle.com and to <kindleusername>@free.kindle.com for Whispernet-delivered and free email-delivered file conversion, respectively, but these are services available just for those who bought a real Kindle device, not available for those who just own the digital Kindle application (iPhone, iPad, etc.). The file that the user wants to be converted needs to be attached to these emails. Users could also convert PDF and other files to the first-generation Kindle's supported formats using third-party software. The original Kindle supported audio in the form of MP3s and Audible audiobooks (versions 2, 3 and 4), which had to be transferred to the Kindle via USB or on an SD card. However there is software available (e.g. Calibre) which can convert a non-DRM EPUB file into the Kindle Format.

A book may be downloaded from Amazon to a limited number of devices at the same time. The limit ranges from one to six devices, depending on an undisclosed number of licenses set by the book publisher. When the limit is reached, the users have to unregister some devices in the Manage Your Kindle page in order to add new device.

In short in can actually read a variety of formats if you readily convert them to be readable by Kindle. Thus original format readable is .mobi . prc .txt .tpz .azw .pdf. Using the converter however more various ebooks are readable by the Kindle. Supported Formats for Conversion

In addition to the file formats listed above, you can also convert other personal documents to read on your Kindle. The supported file formats are listed below:

• Microsoft Word (.DOC) • Structured HTML (.HTML, .HTM) • JPEG (.JPEG, .JPG) • GIF (.GIF) • PNG (.PNG) • BMP (.BMP) • Compressed ZIP (.ZIP)

Hi,
May I know what different type of ebook formats the kindle can read? Thanks in advance.

Haha yep! It is the one that is also the earliest to run out of stock. Whilst there might be thousands of folks in the US running around with them, i guess its perhaps safe to say we're one of the few in Malaysia at this time to first have them units, with ailinchia the first person in that I know of around having the very first 3G Kindle notworthy.gif

Guys, sorry Ive yet to upload the shipment status, went back home from office only 1am yesterday and already in the office today at 6.30am. Ive got back to back meetings. Ill follow through later tonight. Just so everyone is updated, all the accesories except the Belkin covers have been shipped out by Amazon Partners to my US address. Amazon's orders been placed but they usually take a little while longer to work the items out.

Itll be soon when we get our stuff icon_rolleyes.gif

Thank you sir! In fact I did it as a bulk not for a quick buck but to share the shipping prices, so we get the Kindle at a fairer price that what you would ridiculously need to pay otherwise nod.gif
In any case, Ive finally found a way to capture clearly all the status so you guys can see. From the bottom, will be my first order, followed by the subsequent orders.
As you can see the latest the Kindle will make its way to my colleagues house is October 14th sad.gif
But that's just a rough estimate, Im sure itll reach earlier, in any case, as promised you'll be updated of course flex.gif

Update : wildquest just joined this bulk. Not to hold up the bulk, wildquest has gone for an expedited shipping option so the Kindle chosen will
reach earlier or at the same time the other Kindle's will reach. Updated the status in Post 1.

Sorry for the apparent silence folks, the days have been tiring with me reaching office by 7am and only leaving 11pm the whole of this week.
Today, made the mistake of drinking coffee at 10pm and now am having trouble sleeping doh.gif
