A forummer had asked via PM if Kindle can run on MacOS, the Tiger not Leopard. Ive asked for it to be asked via the thread, that way everyone else would benefit from the knowledge, he didnt ask on the thread still though but I thought Ill help out anyway.
When you talk about Kindle, you have to reference it right, because you see, there is Kindle - The Device and there is Kindle - The App (Application). When you then talk about Kindle - The App though, then you gotta remember that there are various Kindle Apps. There are Kindle Apps for iPhone, PC, iPad, Android and MacOS. Having said that lets look at the main question above and answer it covering all possible angle.
Can the Kindle can run on MacOS, the Tiger not Leopard? Kindle the Device can be run on any Macintosh: Mac OS X 10.2 or later. In this mode, the Kindle will be just like the other examples shown earlier, a medium to copy ebooks into it just like a PC. Once connected to the Mac it will show as another drive and files can be copied in. Reference Shown Here
If you are talking about Kindle - The Application, that's a different story. To date, the Kindle application has only been available for Windows machines, which has made it slightly harder for Mac users to organize and manage their Kindle collection.
Along came Kindle for Mac which also offers e-reader features, so you can access all of your e-book purchases, download and read them right on your computer. It’ll also sync the furthest location read with all Kindle devices registered to your account if you want, so that you can continue reading on your Kindle, iPhone or Mac without missing a beat.
Unfortunately however the Kindle for Mac only runs on MacOS 10.5 or later. Here's a reference for it.
Hopefully that has answered that query Let us know folks if you still have any others.
# PS - Ask via the thread, that way the answer can be shared with everyone

Wow...so many useful tips and info in here related to the Kindle. Thanks havocx and everyone else who contributed. I can't wait to receive the Kindle to try it out. Only thing is I wish all these useful info are all on page 1 so I don't have to go through 16 pages to find the piece of info when I need it. BUT I'm not complaining, just wishing LOL! Really appreciate greatly for all the updates and prompt replies from havocx. Excellent effort I'd say!

Cannot agree more Thanks guys Yep Im actually compiling those info so itll fit into one page, itll help me as well since there's loads of queries coming in from folks via PM too and some of them are repeats of answers Ive already posted or have been posted on the site, ive compiled some of the FAQ's already on the bottom of the first post though. Im thinking though to move it over to one dedicated post to get all the in. That way itll be much much easier
Some News ! I was at the Japanese Embassy today making my Visa for my upcoming Japan trip and whilst waiting I saw this girl reading a Kindle. She looked Japanese. Wow i thought, cool stuff, Japanese folks are reading Kindle too. A more pleasant suprise is when I said hello, I immediately recognised her as fluene Coolness to see the Kindle in use, even more when its from a bulk I did. We spoke a bit and I saw some of the stuff fluene was talking about in her earlier posts, excellent excellent stuff.
More News ! As promised the Kindle's have already been sent to DHL for shipping over to Malaysia for Bulk 5! Here's a screenie on the status : * Tracking and Address have been masked for security reasons

Coming soon folks!

On another Note :
Some folks have requested via PM that I show real examples of Chinese text on the Kindle and how its displayed. Just for them to be sure. So, you know I dont read Chinese right, thus unless some of you can actually send me examples of .mobi or .azw or .prc files or even .pdf files of your own I can show it here.
Not knowing Chinese (so i dont know below if its really Chinese or just some form of Kanji) here are some samples : *PS - Dont laugh at the choices, quickest sample i can get from the net.

QUOTE(dennis_lcfx @ Jan 6 2011, 10:11 PM) That's a broken link buddy. Was this what you meant ? May not be worth it to ship in at all. Cost of shipping it in even with the Bulk and lets say using USPS is going to cost more than the Mouse itself because of Volumetric Weight. Plus its already available in Lowyat for I think about RM50. Comparable to what Amazon is selling. Youd find better luck in Lowyat actually .This post has been edited by havocx: Jan 6 2011, 10:27 PM

Also, actually for the screenshot i posted on Kindle displaying Chinese above, those are direct PDF's they dont need conversion. Pros : Easy and You conserve any pictures. Cons : You cant increase PDF's fonts.
If you convert them per the links above : Pros : Your text in Chinese can perhaps be increased in size. Cons : A little hassle with the conversion.

Awesome! With all the compiled info, I'm sure all of us will be Kindle pros in no time. And my my...what a story of coincidence! Almost fit for a movie plot. One question to anyone who knows the answer. I don't really feel like jailbreaking the Kindle, it's complicated and probably will void the warranty but I need it for reading Chinese ebooks besides English ones. So, can Chinese ebooks be converted into a Kindle-friendly format where the fonts are able to be enlarged? (without going through jailbreaking that is...) Sorry if this was addressed before.

Hi estara, Try converting the file to *.mobi using Calibre. Search this thread for Calibre for more info on how to use the software. See if this could help. Good luck!

Haha, actually it wont void the warranty and not really that hard, took 2 minutes to do but really once ive done it, its actually more for you to have different screensavers, really. There's no pressing need to actually do it. Also, the jailbreak can be reversed in case you need to.
By default as long as its in PDF you can already display. Otherwise like the post by mr.anutta you can convert them to .mobi (better quality) or .prc to have that effect. Not all will transfer and convert nicely though, so you need to have a failure tolerance. Also as per post 357 for folks who have a lot of small font PDF files which are actually ebooks I found a converter. Only catch is that your pictures (if any) wont undergo any conversion. Its called Free PDF to Text and that will allow a conversion of text based PDF to only text. Havent tried it though

Thanks guys! I'll give these solutions a try if I ever face any problem with the legibility of Chinese characters.
