Heya Akkarin,Yes, as long as its a format Kindle supports, you can just copy and paste into the Kindle without having to go through the conversion process. A little light reading for you to see the various formats that the Kindle can read without having to go through the conversion process. Remember Christmas is coming and I dont want the shipment to be delayed or lost in the tons of other Christmas stuff thats coming along. Will perhaps start to request for payment by Friday and Saturday and Ill immediately place order and make payments to Amazon then. Will also then paypal the cash for the shipment to my colleague for him to set up DHL. |

QUOTE(storm04 @ Dec 11 2010, 08:36 AM) was wondering how u ppl charge the battery? So let me help you out with that query storm04. Firstly, the only way to charge the Kindle is via the USB Type A/Micro-B port.via usb? anyone tried charging from the wall? kindle3 has a voltage range of 110-240 but i think it's for frequency 60hz... msia = 50hz... if i charge from wall, will it impact kindle? In short the Kindle's micro usb port. Thus yes it needs to be charged from the usb port. Second part of the question would actually vary. Remember that the new Kindle 3 has an excellent 30 days battery life standby time and if youre a hardcore reader who reads daily for about 4 hours a day the battery would start to drain by day 15. That said and being one of the first few who got the Kindle in via my own bulk, I have only had to charge 1 of my Kindle once and yet to charge the other. This was since it was out of the box, about 8-9 weeks ago. That said I also think no one in my bulk would be able to answer how do we charge the battery since we've yet to do it Amazon has provided a micro usb cable that is 5 feet in length, very very long. That said, it can be charged from any source, PC or directly from the wall. Using a lower frequency just means that you charge longer unlike the 60hz. Longer is 4 hours to full charge versus 3 hours on normal charge, i think. To charge from the wall directly Amazon provides a wall adapter with a US head. You can instead use any other type of USB head plug to get you along. Really though, and because of the technology it uses, even if you dont charge it fully itll last you for very long, ie perhaps a minimum of 2 days on 10 minutes charge time. Besides even charging directly from USB power source there's differences, some USB only outputs 500ma, while there's others which provide up to 2000ma. There's differences between notebook A's USB power output vs notebook B's power output. Even more when considering most front USB's provides less power than motherboards back USB. Considering all that differences and the Kindle being energy efficient as it is and one tough cookie, I think itll do just fine Hopefully that helps. |

Hello.
I would just like to ask: 1) Why doesn't Amazon ship Kindle to Malaysia? 2)Can we get the eBooks for the Kindle from the internet (Amazon)? 3)Are there any restricted titles? Been Looking through and am worried that I might not be able to obtain some books that i would want to read. Sorry if these questions have been asked, but i couldn't find the desired answers. cheers! |

QUOTE(MirzA @ Dec 11 2010, 05:13 PM) Hello. Heya there buddy, sure let me help.I would just like to ask: 1) Why doesn't Amazon ship Kindle to Malaysia? 2)Can we get the eBooks for the Kindle from the internet (Amazon)? 3)Are there any restricted titles? Been Looking through and am worried that I might not be able to obtain some books that i would want to read. Sorry if these questions have been asked, but i couldn't find the desired answers. cheers! Firstly though, im sure you may have missed the answers even in the first page of the thread since most of the questions you asked were already answered there as well as the last few posts before this. So here goes. 1) Why doesn't Amazon ship Kindle to Malaysia? Well the easy answer is, I dont know. Its a question that is best answered by Amazon themselves and only from the Customer Service Of Amazon. I wouldnt know their marketing strategy and plans. Who knows why they dont ship it to Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia but decides hey we can ship it to Vietnam. (they do by the way) So for those who want what is currently the best eBook reader in the market, Kindle is the only way to go. Personally I guess is each book and ebook has distributorship and rights that can only be sold to a certain country because of copyright laws and similar things on the country or region which is the reason why they decide, naah they will send Physical books but not ebooks over. 2)Can we get the eBooks for the Kindle from the internet (Amazon)? Err yes but of course, thats the very reason you would choose Kindle now would it instead of other eBook readers like Kobo, Nook, Iriver and Ah Yam ereader. Kindle has specific access to the Amazon bookstore and hence access to the titles. Bonus point would be how light and how long Kindle's battery last and the extra ability to read other ebook formats like .pdf and .mobi. How to do it ? Well easy, its just a matter of research. 3)Are there any restricted titles? Been Looking through and am worried that I might not be able to obtain some books that i would want to read. In short that would defeat the reason why folks here buy the Kindle now would it ? Kindle however restricts the IP that downloads the ebooks must come from countries where Kindles can be shipped to. Its really a simple matter of later to let Amazon know that youre technically in the US. I have personally purchased and paid for 35 ebooks and 20 free ebooks from Amazon myself. Some titles are really restricted to countries because again of distribution and copyright issues. Ken Folliets ebook the Pillars Of The Earth, can be found in UK Kindle's store but if you try to download it from the US you will get an error as it will not allow you to since the book has yet to get distribution in the US. I have it in my Kindle. So its not really a problem. There's space in the Kindle for 33000 ebooks, there's always a way to get the ebooks on it. Maybe do this MirzA, you mentioned you read through the thread, I personally think there's a wealth of information to look at if you actually did. Another source would be the LYN Book Club where you will find a sizeable group of folks already happily using the Kindle. From my Bulk alone, you'd see there's at least 25 happy campers This post has been edited by havocx: Dec 12 2010, 12:14 AM |

One of the book I can think of is "The Digital Photography Book" which is colored and available in kindle version as well. Sure buddy, am gonna go a little futher even by providing you some actual sample books that I have.It would be sweet if you could display some samples of it cause I'm on the edge of getting one soon =) Remember that Kindle may however only display pictures in 8 bit Black and White but with all details intact. Pictures 1 - Tolkien Screesaver on my Kindle. Pictures 2 - 5 are photo's from Travel Hong Kong an ebook I got when I was on Business Trip to Hong Kong. Picture 6 is a comparison of the same page using an iPad vs Kindle. Picture 7 - 9 are the sample pictures from your Digital Photography book, i got the ebook sample. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « My personal feel and looking at the same pictures on my iPad, for Picture specific iPad would win of course but reading the articles was also kinda difficult to me with the screen glare. Reading full stop will be Kindle. It doesnt do so well with pictures. The good thing though is that if you have the Kindle, then iPad or Iphone, you can do the reading via Kindle and from the iPhone and iPad Kindle app to look at the pictures in more detail if needed. Some folks may not even need the physical Kindle too, just would suffice with the Kindle app. I found the glare and battery life on my Apple devices not comfortable for my reading unfortunately. Hope this helps! |

Dont worry no deposits and payments yet, until BULK 4 is completed. Whispersync ? There's no reason to. Kindle directly syncs to your Amazon account. You will only want to use whispersync if you would want Kindle to help convert an ebook format it cannot read to one that it can. But there's already so many free apps online that can do that for you. You dont have to wait a delayed one day or a few hours to get it into your Kindle. You could convert it and then using USB copy and paste the new converted ebook into your Kindle Easy peasy. |

Do PM me the price for Kindle along with leather case. I hope I'll get a good price on the leader case >"< Ah that, my bad.Yes sure! Actually if you see in the post before where you asked on the Digital Photography book, the sample of the writeup with pictures on Hong Kong, that IS whispersync in action. Gadgets I have are : 2 x Kindle Iphone 4G Ipad Iphone 3GS All these items are registered to one account. Its also the maximum registration of devices that can carry per user account. This means that if im reading an ebook on the iphone, I stop and then take out the Kindle, whispersync it, it will show the current page where I was. So will all the other devices if you sync it. What if 2 devices are reading different things ? Say Im reading on Hong Kong on my Ipad and wife is reading Canada on her Iphone 3GS. No biggie, if i then take the Kindle out, it will show the last page where im reading on the Ipad of Hong Kong and wife on Canada on the Iphone 3GS if I sync it Similarly, if wife then decided to sync her Iphone 3GS, she will find the last page where im reading on Hong Kong. Not really confusing, key word is when we sync. Hope that helps! |

Moonflown, would you mind asking the queries via the thread ? Itll help with similar questions other folks may have as well. I mean so I dont have to repeat the queries You understand right, if i reply all queries via PM, i may have to repeat it over and over
Can you also later paste your query on the thread all the same ? Ill reply your query here too and paste the answer on the main thread later. ====================================== Answer from bro havocx Nope, havent tried. Reason : Dont have a reason to. Amazon Kindle takes PDF files directly without the need for conversion. Unless of course you somehow want to convert .PDF to .mobi. Ill need to try that out and report back. But really, Kindle has a capacity of 3GB free space for MP3 and other ebook files. PDF files display as how it is, only in black or white. ====================================== Yea I know but some pdf are way too small to be viewed with pdf format directly without conversion. They need zooming and scrolling around =) |
