That's not quite true, we actually can, as you can see from the scores of folks getting the Kindle's. There's also other sources of how books can be placed on the Kindle such as Project Guttenberg and the like.
Kindle with its wide range of support of formats will also allow you to view other types of prints, such as .mobi files and .pdf's notworthy.gif
So yep while officially we cant purchase Kindle and Kindle books here, there are legal ways to do so smile.gif

Heya buddy, sure thing!
This here is a scaled down picture, maybe not so good quality of my buddies Kindle 6" in red within its covers. Its placed next to a 9.7" Kindle i just COD'ed with Mizi earlier in the office today.
One is a picture of it opened with the Kindle DX on top while the other is it closed. Contrast may not be so cool since its taken with an iPhone 4 and the carry bag is also red.
Will try to get better pictures later.
I personally love the Burnt Orange colour smile.gif

You will see and from my experience with at least 3 covers, why I prefer the official one.
The hinges help lock the Kindle in place.

That alone takes the cake since there is no unsightly extras on the Kindle when youre reading.
Next the soft felt cushion on a hard backing gives it the protection i need within a Leather case.
Finally, it makes the Kindle really REALLY feel like a true book.
I missed that with my other casings earlier, having the Kindle cover makes reading the Kindle with the book feel complete smile.gif
The 6" Kindle is really super nice and super light but being small sometimes you dont feel 'puas' reading until you get to hold it like below.
The official cover not having stuff drapped all over and around it also means that you dont have to content with elastics and flaps covering the Kindle screen while you read.

Notice the flap here ? I personally hate it when things get in the way, I also dont like to see elastics around my screen, i prefer to either use the Kindle
just on its own or with the official covers. And no i dont work for Amazon, i just can see the logic of why they chose the Official Casing as the Official one (and milking us on the price sad.gif )

user posted imageuser posted image

I fear that after time the flap may just remain covering the main face of the Kindle even when its opened. Amazon's official Kindle cover on the other hand does not have such issues smile.gif
Pictured below is the official cover with light by Amazon. Notice no unsightly elastics or flaps ? smile.gif

just got my kindle dx yesterday, thanks mr havocx...

This is my quick reviews:
1. The e-ink technology i must say is very nice with eyes, it is like a real paper, im quite surprised with that.

2.This is larger version (u can refer pic above) really nice when u read magazine (esp. pdf format) but the downside is it is not have retina display as apple tech use, so the word in certain pages/ column looks small, but dont worry u can focus on that with a bigger font

3. although kindle comes with black and white, but i has a better contrast,u can see clear different with black and white.

4. KIndle dx have a speaker at the bottom,i can say the sound quality not bad at all, even i set high on loudness the quality not deteriorate.

5. my kindle comes with free 3g, which is i not configure yet,i need me to register on amazon website (maybe other time lah) but tell u guys , it detect full bar!!! plus 3g icon appear..i wonder i suppose lock with at&t service...

from my point of views, i would like to share/suggests/ advice:

1. this is not ipad (any other tablet) so dont expect any fancy specs, it very basic, even whenever u play mp3, the songlists not showed up so u must skip one by one .

2. Since amazon dedicate this product solely for reading and light browsing so please dont compare with tablet, tablet is technology (and evolving) but e-reader is all about knowledge and reading.Fyi, i hv two boxes of mag,so now i can put into single gadget, with thinnest and lightest ever.,wo

3. The function and button need time to accustomed with, but its ok not that hard, suggest u read the instruction first...

4. Whoever buys this product should buys cover/case also, coz it will protect the kindle eventhough u using at home,it will collecting dust and smurf the screen.. mine like naked, look for forward a leather case

thanks, if u want more, try this link.

Heya Akkarin,
Yes, as long as its a format Kindle supports, you can just copy and paste into the Kindle without having to go through the conversion process.
A little light reading for you to see the various formats that the Kindle can read without having to go through the conversion process.

14th or earlier will be the closing date. Remember Christmas is coming and I dont want the shipment to be delayed or lost in the tons of other Christmas stuff thats coming along.
Will perhaps start to request for payment by Friday and Saturday and Ill immediately place order and make payments to Amazon then.
Will also then paypal the cash for the shipment to my colleague for him to set up DHL. smile.gif

Heya buddy, check out your PM for the response. Just so you know, Ive checked the Hardcovers will only start shipping from Jan 16 or Feb 22nd onwards so even if placing the order now, and with lets say you go crazy and choose 2 day shipping you will only get it at the start of March since Amazon only starts shipping these either on Jan 16 or Feb 22nd onwards. No problems with the paperback though.

So let me help you out with that query storm04. Firstly, the only way to charge the Kindle is via the USB Type A/Micro-B port.
In short the Kindle's micro usb port. Thus yes it needs to be charged from the usb port.
Second part of the question would actually vary. Remember that the new Kindle 3 has an excellent 30 days battery life standby time and
if youre a hardcore reader who reads daily for about 4 hours a day the battery would start to drain by day 15.
That said and being one of the first few who got the Kindle in via my own bulk, I have only had to charge 1 of my Kindle once and yet to charge the other.

This was since it was out of the box, about 8-9 weeks ago. laugh.gif Amazing battery life no ?
That said I also think no one in my bulk would be able to answer how do we charge the battery since we've yet to do it notworthy.gif

Amazon has provided a micro usb cable that is 5 feet in length, very very long. That said, it can be charged from any source, PC or directly from the wall.
Using a lower frequency just means that you charge longer unlike the 60hz. Longer is 4 hours to full charge versus 3 hours on normal charge, i think.
To charge from the wall directly Amazon provides a wall adapter with a US head. You can instead use any other type of USB head plug to get you along.

Really though, and because of the technology it uses, even if you dont charge it fully itll last you for very long, ie perhaps a minimum of 2 days on 10 minutes charge time.
Besides even charging directly from USB power source there's differences, some USB only outputs 500ma, while there's others which provide up to 2000ma.
There's differences between notebook A's USB power output vs notebook B's power output.
Even more when considering most front USB's provides less power than motherboards back USB.
Considering all that differences and the Kindle being energy efficient as it is and one tough cookie, I think itll do just fine smile.gif

Hopefully that helps. nod.gif

Hello.

I would just like to ask:

1) Why doesn't Amazon ship Kindle to Malaysia?
2)Can we get the eBooks for the Kindle from the internet (Amazon)?
3)Are there any restricted titles? Been Looking through and am worried that I might not be able to obtain some books that i would want to read.

Sorry if these questions have been asked, but i couldn't find the desired answers.

cheers!
