I second that. Just look at LYN's warcraft III forum, full of kiddies that have problem communicating in english. But I would say something is that game itself is the main reason for the community it has created.
Let's make a comparison,
DotA comes with a very direct and easy playstyle, just level up and equipped your hero well and pawn your opponents, just like most of the MMORPG out there. (Maybe you say it involved micro skill, hell, mostly every game involve micro, skip that) As long as you play RPG before, you will find it how easy to learn and master DotA. (Eventhough you dont know english)
DoW, complicated game. Not really noob friendly, eventhough you are an RTS expert as this game itself is a revolution to the RTS game. It changed from the traditional harvest, build and attack to cap point and attack all the way. Moreover, I found it quite hard to understand every bit of the environment of this game (unless you are a die hard fan of Warhammer 40k) as most of the units in the game are speaking "ancient" language which is quite hard to be understood if you are not really good in English.
In terms of business POV, definately DotA is the way to go as your target market is bigger than every game out there. What I would like to emphasize is that, there's no right nor wrong for dota existence. Just bear with it and think of better way to improve DoW community.
Well yeah Id would not agree more Dota players in Malaysia have not only poor english language level but a poo command of language. In simple sentence they have a huge problem trying to espress them selves in words so they can only use swearing languages, thus their minds can only comprehend games like dota, games that are a little bit complicated to master and needless to say win they will just give up.

Really? I guess they try to have the "gothic" feel of protraying the no nonsense world of grim 40K. Without realising it, I seems to live and breath 40k universe now.
I thought the english level for DOW is quite simple.

IMO:
venue: FTZ or Clutch?Seriously, FTZ have better computer but thats it. Clutch might have more vibe but I dont know for sure
time: morning can ah?If morning make sure it is on Sunday pls
game version: DC or WA? (i'd say WZ for early November)No comment
registration fee: RM 30 (it's pricey but i got something in it for u guys!)Gonna scare away n00bs... then again there are always ppl who "never die before"
maps: gimme 4For 1v1 more fair maps: Battle March, Meeting of the Minds, Shrine of Excellion, Fallen city. Quest triump is good but the only lower part of the map can access center critical point make it contraversal
Solo/Team: ?Old timer like 1v1, N00bs like team, I can do Both
prizes: 500/300/100 enuff for a start? You are not making money.. no comment
additional comments: ?Hmm Kong your offer of a new mini tourney is most generous indeed. But can we for the moment look at the bigger picture here just to brainstorm some possibilties?
All the games at Waaagh Sessions and across hamachi slowly but sure revealed something about the state of DOW community now. To the new comers those of us who are in early and keep a "healthy" level of play will seems to have "endured a thousand battles, between us millennia of experience of warfare fighting the fore front of 40k" The level difference between us old batch and new comer are simply too high.
As my friend Osiris put it this way:
QUOTE("Osiris")
"After Waaagh session we usually went for tea, around the table we sat gathered the most powerful local Chapter Master/Warboss/Chaos Lord/General
May be we should attract more new comer instead, if say Johnny, me, Redeye and Heaven starts joining I doubt the likes of Fuj, daemon, NameX will even consider participating for what chance do they have when we can beat them 1v1 even only by using scouts at Tier 1?
You guys are really hard to win I even have problem getting advantage from namex, but I would not mind training for a tournament and loose just for the fun of supporting the DOW community and having the experience of able to join a DOW which is really really rare in Malaysia.
QUOTE(redeye84 @ Oct 9 2006, 10:12 PM)
Well a tourney can reveal hidden DOW pros that doesnt come to the forum to talk.
So waba u never know.
Btw i just called Hunt and his Sat was yet again with his Imba job. Daemon, his imba job comes with balance pay so its a good thing.
Next Week i hope we have a COH/DOW session.
I hope so I really hope to see those hidden pros and meet the other DOW players from Malaysia. I hope that we are able to play DC this comming session thought the chances of that happening is really slim.

Well, it's depends though. If there are like 32 players around, then I might, surplus I got the time to train online again.
Yeah lets train togather.
