Just had a game with Fuj on Fallen City. *sigh* I'm still a Chaos noob. I was thinking to go for mass raptors to counter that very annoying grenade launcher of guardsmen by going straight to 2 squad raptors at the start. I have underestimate the CoH of IG and paid for it. I have to switch back to the old CSM + CL combo and that caused my teching dragged dramatically.

Finally, it was a war of tier-1 infantry + pinky squad vs half dozen of chimera. Here you are, boyz,

btw, the front cover for the Horus Heresy books a bit funny. factually wrong, cuz at the time of horus, the backpack part is very big wan, like u see the Chaos Marines wearing. It was onli much later that the size was reduced and made more efficient. but the book cover shows the marines already having the new back pack. but still, SUPER COOL drawings!

wanted to also buy the new Ciaphas Cain novel. lol, it is the best imperial guard novel, cuz super funny! Mistaken heroism! maybe we can trade books lor lol if anyone buy lol

How come I feel such a question will be comming from you.

If they do not deal with THQ then you'd have to get ahem versions of COH and DOW or buy it from other countries. The n why dun you ask the people that brought in CS while CS was still popular in Malaysia.

just asking King Kong feeling.
Cos i dunno anyone related.

31-32..hmm looks affortable. I think i get it also.

Right a lot of you seems cant stand to read through tutorial, me too. The pressing matter at hand is this, u guys who are new to this need to recognized what point is what point, the way u played which is see-what-cap-what will only ensure the total annilation of your forces and hinders ur ambition.

Know that there are 3 types of capturable points
1) Strategic point
2) Holy Relic
3) Critical point

Strategic Points or SP
user posted image
The most common point of all, capping is fastest on these and you can build an LP on it, capturing more than 75% of total SP on the map will initiate a map control count down. It is easily spotted with being a circle with bordered cross.
Memorise the location of these points and come out with a plan to cap the as fast as possible

Relic
user posted image
Relic is easily diffrenciate from SP with being having gold border around them and will have nice glowing effect if some one is capturing them. Like SP relic can have a LP build on top of it. Capturing all the relic on the map will not start any count down. Relic are crucial for later special units availability like Baneblade. These cap slower then SP.

Critical point or CP
user posted image
Now CP, the circle with haxagon border, are meant only to be capped when you are winning/have nothing better to do/know what you are doing as it takes ages to be cap and you cant build a LP on it. If you capture more than 50% of CP on the map take and hold count down will start, that is, if there is only one u captured it count down will start,

Now how do I know which count down is which?
user posted image
The top one shows count down as a result of getting more than 75% SP
Where as the below one accounts for more than 50% CP

SO know which you should cap decap first!

How much does the books cost?

Also here a question for King Kong.

How does it feel that Sendi Mutiara the distributors of WC3 games making $$$ from WC3 and Dota. Ecspecially Sendi Mutiara organize alot of Dota competition.

While New era is focusing on underground games that dont make lots of $$$ as Sendi Mutiara. It nice that New Era helps us underdog on promoting the game. Doesnt it upset your BOD.

good question redeye84.

its good to see that SMM is doing a lot of tournaments to promote DotA, good for the community however it's actually sucky to see the kind of people who join those tournaments....

you see, i've ran several DotA tournaments while i was back in Sendi (yes i defected to the Good Side) and the players that i met are: damn 9 kiasu, damn 9 vulgar and damn 9 unsportsmanlike.

not all players are like that, but there are quite a general number but its their unsportsmanship is the main reason upsetting in this Malaysian gaming industry (and its refelcted on an overall basis).

these people: give up quite easily, don't want to learn new games (like DoW for example) and only want to own others. in short, their level of achievement isn't very high.

gone are the days where people were very serious in CS.... that sort of commitment is long gone.

just take a look at this community (check out other forums), the standard of players here differ greatly than other games i've organised (i've done DotA, CS, Starcraft and Warcraft) and i'm honestly amazed at how this community has gone on its own.

it might be just a 2 digit figure but it's a remarkable progress!!!! but tournaments are needed to sustain it in the long run.

anyway, SMM is currently milking it's cash cow but it's not something for the long run. it wont last and i hope that DoW can last. and for tat....

i'm planning to have a DoW: Winter Assault Tournament sometime early November. but the prize money won't be big, prolly in hundred only. I'd like to get feedback from everyone on these:

venue: FTZ or Clutch?
time: morning can ah?
game version: DC or WA? (i'd say WZ for early November)
registration fee: RM 30 (it's pricey but i got something in it for u guys!)
maps: gimme 4
Solo/Team: ?
prizes: 500/300/100 enuff for a start?
additional comments: ?

email me at: junking.my[at]neweraint[dot]com

i read my mails much faster than bumming around in the forums.

I second that. Just look at LYN's warcraft III forum, full of kiddies that have problem communicating in english. But I would say something is that game itself is the main reason for the community it has created.

Let's make a comparison,

DotA comes with a very direct and easy playstyle, just level up and equipped your hero well and pawn your opponents, just like most of the MMORPG out there. (Maybe you say it involved micro skill, hell, mostly every game involve micro, skip that) As long as you play RPG before, you will find it how easy to learn and master DotA. (Eventhough you dont know english)

DoW, complicated game. Not really noob friendly, eventhough you are an RTS expert as this game itself is a revolution to the RTS game. It changed from the traditional harvest, build and attack to cap point and attack all the way. Moreover, I found it quite hard to understand every bit of the environment of this game (unless you are a die hard fan of Warhammer 40k) as most of the units in the game are speaking "ancient" language which is quite hard to be understood if you are not really good in English.

In terms of business POV, definately DotA is the way to go as your target market is bigger than every game out there. What I would like to emphasize is that, there's no right nor wrong for dota existence. Just bear with it and think of better way to improve DoW community.

To be fair I would say the "kidde" issue is basically the same across all gaming platforms. The lobby of DOW for example, is full of conversation of sensitive topics and senseless debates from juviniles which disgrace the notion of humanity and render any civilization achievement meaningless.

However since DOW is not as popular and accessible locally naturally only the more dedicated ppl are staying around so the difference is clearly visible then the mass of main stream players.

Really? I guess they try to have the "gothic" feel of protraying the no nonsense world of grim 40K. Without realising it, I seems to live and breath 40k universe now.

alright, no comparison about DotA here, we're here for Dawn of War and that's it.

do send me suggestion/feedback on the tournament.

i'd like to add thgat the registration fee might be used to pay, say a t-shirt and hence the high cost. it might be lower depending on how the print cost is.

my mailbox is still empty....

For NameX and Hunt,

Orks vs Chaos

Im using huts, banner BO on this map. im trying to learn the strat from Santiago but it is hard to catch, i've been trying 4 match using this strat but all lose. *sigh*

As ussual, chaos BO is very easy for this map. BO is raptor->CSM->lord. I try to beat his lord but almost impossible. He keep dancing and dancing from my sluggas and trying to focus fire on my shoota boyz.

When my bigmek locked by the venom of chaos lord axe, before my bigmek hp go zero, i quickly detach bigmek from slugga squad just to prevent the slugga from broken and continue kapak the lord. And finnaly his lord is dead, killed by shootas boyz.

I was trying to boom my econ while i cant penetrate the chaos' defences while he is teching tech2 for zerkers.....................

Im wondering why my nobz+bigmak cannot own zerkers+lord some more with 4 wartrukk suporrting their ass.

time: morning can ah?
If morning make sure it is on Sunday pls

game version: DC or WA? (i'd say WZ for early November)

registration fee: RM 30 (it's pricey but i got something in it for u guys!)
Gonna scare away n00bs... then again there are always ppl who "never die before"

maps: gimme 4
For 1v1 more fair maps: Battle March, Meeting of the Minds, Shrine of Excellion, Fallen city. Quest triump is good but the only lower part of the map can access center critical point make it contraversal

Solo/Team: ?
Old timer like 1v1, N00bs like team, I can do Both drool.gif

prizes: 500/300/100 enuff for a start?
You are not making money.. no comment

Hmm Kong your offer of a new mini tourney is most generous indeed. But can we for the moment look at the bigger picture here just to brainstorm some possibilties?

All the games at Waaagh Sessions and across hamachi slowly but sure revealed something about the state of DOW community now. To the new comers those of us who are in early and keep a "healthy" level of play will seems to have "endured a thousand battles, between us millennia of experience of warfare fighting the fore front of 40k" The level difference between us old batch and new comer are simply too high.

As my friend Osiris put it this way:

QUOTE("Osiris")
"After Waaagh session we usually went for tea, around the table we sat gathered the most powerful local Chapter Master/Warboss/Chaos Lord/General
doh.gif

May be we should attract more new comer instead, if say Johnny, me, Redeye and Heaven starts joining I doubt the likes of Fuj, daemon, NameX will even consider participating for what chance do they have when we can beat them 1v1 even only by using scouts at Tier 1?

Well a tourney can reveal hidden DOW pros that doesnt come to the forum to talk.

So waba u never know.

Btw i just called Hunt and his Sat was yet again with his Imba job. Daemon, his imba job comes with balance pay so its a good thing.

Next Week i hope we have a COH/DOW session.

the tournament not just for a few of us, it is about 32players or 16 team. so if they can beat into top10, not bad for them also. plus, we have general waba, brother captain redeye and warboss Hunt to teach the new comer playing in better way. Forget about johnnycp, he's da biggest ork noob ever. if i really want to participate in the tourney, maybe i will relearn SM or Chaos or maybe eldar. Orks just too hard to play, cant really master the full power of WAAAGH!.
