I think we should go with Berba with Hernandez/Owen
Owen will drop deep to get the ball more to feet or make runs behind defenders with berba holding up the ball or we could play Hernandez on the wings to make a 5 man midfield and have more pace for counter attack |

Rio a stand-up guy for United
QUOTE RIO FERDINAND has gone to extraordinary lengths to make sure he is fit to shore up Manchester United's defence tonight. Link The defender STOOD UP for virtually the whole two hours of United's flight to Spain yesterday to counter any further problems with his back. Ferdinand is also using a special booster seat to help with the problem that has plagued him since December 2008, causing him to miss 61 of United's last 103 games. While he has recovered from the knee injury that ruled him out of the World Cup, his back is still causing him trouble. And the booster seat goes everywhere to ensure his back is aligned properly. United desperately need him back as they have had their worst start to a campaign defensively in nine years, letting in nine goals in their first six league games. Ferdinand, 31, is yet to start a league game but played the full 90 minutes against Rangers in United's opening Champions League game two weeks ago. He was then ill for the home win over Liverpool and boss Alex Ferguson said he was not match fit for Sunday's disappointing 2-2 draw at Bolton. Ferdinand also had the disappointment of Nemanja Vidic being named ahead of him as team captain in place of injury-hit Gary Neville. Ferguson said: "It is a decision I will take for this game. The important thing is that Rio's coming back. He probably needs another one or two games. It goes without saying considering he's been out for five months, that's why we didn't risk him against Bolton. "We felt it was going to be a physical game and decided to stay with Vidic and Jonny Evans." While United struggled in the goalless draw with Rangers, Valencia are looking to extend an 11-match unbeaten Euro home run in the infamous Mestalla Stadium. And tonight, Wayne Rooney is absent, while golden oldies Paul Scholes (calf) and Ryan Giggs (hamstring) are KO'd. United have won only once in 18 visits to Spain in European competition. Fergie added: "It's obviously the hardest place for us to go. The standard of Spanish football has always been very good." The Spanish media marvel at the fact Ferguson, 68, is in his 24th year in charge at United. He joked: "I can only say you have to live your life the right way and I've always been a saint. "Eat the right food, drink the right wine and you'll be OK. By the way, I'm 93!" And still going strong. LIKELY LINE-UP - United: Van der Sar, O'Shea, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Nani, Fletcher, Gibson, Anderson, Park, Berbatov. |

gahhh, please let Owen start alongside Berbatov. He is on hot red form and he might just decide to quit if he dont get the start even without Rooney in!
Now frankly, whats Valencia without Zigic, Villa, Silva ;p Juan Mata one man show? Yeah, there are on top of the La Liga, CL group with 4-0 away win, but come on man! Its United here we are talking about! The last year's Valencia i would be worried, but the current squad just dont look too strong to beat even out depleted side. The only bad side of the team is the absence of Giggs and Scholes... Hope fletcher can fill the void of Scholes' ansence. Rio, must start because he cant even sit on the chair now. he should stand straight on the field and intimidate people with his looks ;p Is Bebe on the travelling squad? No, i presume |

Im not too sure guys. To say Owen is in top form is abit of overstatement. Scunthorpe and Bolton, he did very well but to say he's in top form..I dunno. I would prefer us start with 4-5-1, then maybe sub him in later stage in the game.

It could be either 4-5-1 or 4-4-2 of course. Reason? 4-5-1 because of the famous formation SAF always applied in UCL game specially away from home. 4-4-2 because of the lack of experienced midfielder due to the injury and such.

But you must analyse what's coming to you next. An away game to Valencia. And he must accept that he is not a key player. First team yes, key player no. I feel that with his current situation, he is best to be a supersub, taking advantage on those tired legs. And when did anyone say he likes to be benched?Added on September 29, 2010, 11:31 pm i dont really know about Valencia, but judging on their last season form( i watched a few matches last season, it was all Valencia's lost, i dont know why i am lucky) and it was kind of boring with the way they play. If we were to play with 4-4-2, Owen is definitely the one that should be paired with Berbatov. No point to slot in an inexperienced striker, as i understand clearly, yes, they're strong physically, good stamina and such but with an away UCL game, young players don't really have the mentality a strong mentality if anything goes wrong or easily over-convinced by the uncertain result (in case if we nearly win the game before the game ends)
