Not to mention we can't really go gung-ho against Valencia after we dropped 2pts against Rangers. Valencia is already leading us by 2pts so we can't afford to be trailling further and make the job even harder for the remaining 4 group matches.

Judging by their overall form AND our own away form + defense, a draw might not be such a bad result?

True that. Reason why SAF always applied 4-5-1 formation. But with the absence of Scholes and Giggs, who do you think would be the first 5 (midfielders)?

It will depends how fit Carrick is. If he is fit to start then my guess will be: Nani - Fletcher - Carrick/Gibson - Ando - Park.

We don't really have much choice in midfield anyway:

QUOTE
09:19 That's confirmed. So, no Neville, Scholes, Giggs or Rooney. So the full squad is: Goalkeepers: Van der Sar, Kuszczak, Amos. Defenders: Smalling, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, O'Shea, Evans, Rafael, Brown. Midfielders: Anderson, Bebe, Nani, Carrick, Gibson, Fletcher, Park. Forwards: Hernandez, Berbatov, Macheda, Owen.

But Gibson, Carrick & Anderson can't really convince me though. Not that i doubt their ability, but look at here.

Carrick : not sure if he's 100% fit,
Gibson : not sure whether he's ready for a 'sudden' big game.
Anderson: he always needs to play alongside seniors like Giggs, Scholes & Carrick IMO. But they're not in the game, how?

Based on your preference, i would say Fletcher to replace either Gibson or Anderson if Carrick is fit.

draw again ? might as well not watch the match at all

united better play good and most importantly defend well.

good luck to us later. night guys.

Edited my post to put in Fletch. Was thinking he might get a rest but since we are without Scholes already, no chance.

Defensively, Carrick will be a better choice than Gibson since he can read the game well and make the necessary intercepts but his fitness will be key. Then Ando & Park will provide us the workrates in the midfield.

Usually a 4-5-1 can easily become 4-3-2-1 when we attack with Nani and Park leading as the 2 behind Berbatov.

Owen is not so called red hot form, he just complete a task that a poacher use to do...it's like you play him, he scored. That's for me it's enough already for a striker..no need too fancy or too hyperactive run up and down but at the end didn't score goal for the team.

If we play 4-5-1, we must have a quick full backs because when we shifted from 4-5-1 to 4-3-2-1, we will be easily exposed and both full backs must be a quick legs...

If we apply a 4-4-2, Owen should start ahead of Hernandez or Macheda due to his "get the job done" form recent matches...

Valencia game is important...please do not risk any fitness-less players in the 1st 11 but don't forget how a injured Carrick suddenly played at Community Shield and rick rolled Fabio Capello laugh.gif

I somehow prefer Gibson over Fletch at this rate.. this guy so full of confidence and done several promising shots. nod.gif

I think now that Villa and Zigic are gone from Valencia, they are now playing as a team, not focusing on pumping the ball forward, but moving the ball around, giving everyone a chance.

just the thought of seeing Mata running around is scary.

Does Banega available for tonight's match? Would be interesting to see him play. Fletch form is a little bit down since Rangers game. A bit weird hmm.gif
