“From our first-half performance, which was outstanding, the criticism is that we didn’t finish them off,” the boss told MUTV. “Where it should have been 5-0 at half-time, we’ve gone in 2-0 up. That is an area we have to be concerned about.
now the gaffer points where he is placing the blame.we solved the concentration issue, defence issue(partly albeit) and now we have yet to solve that ruthless and scoring that chance when it comes.and when we solve that one...hallelujah brows.gif

if all goes to plan and owen makes a successful comeback i see a turning pt there, now if it takes him longer i think its high time we call back cleverly.pace, creativity is need from the midfield on a time were running short on the flanks.

scholes needs rest, and carrick is still off the pace. tom is the one i see filling this gap, meanwhile gibson was nowhere to be seen today.

owen can play RM and put Nani to the left again. Solve our winger issues. And I could really see why SAF wanted to bring back Cleverley. He also can be played on those positions.

pls, for the love of god, push forward for more goals even after we are 2 goals up. We look like we dont want to step on the pedal. Might be because of our lousy midfield performance

I can say mr Anderson you can fark back to portugal already. He not only conced the free kick but also dispossess in midfield ... Easily by WBA player.

Anderson clearly dragged/pulled the shirt of the Baggies player outside the box so clear offense there.

I think Nani is shite. Sir Alex is old already. Maybe we should get Jose Mourinho. He is good leh.

Please boxy, we DO NOT need sarcasm post whenever we dropped points. Can't we put a stop on this? What's the point of doing so?

Back to the match, so now we are drawing home game? laugh.gif

Our 2nd half performance is really sweat.gif Credits to WBA, they seems to be wanted it more than us hence the point shared.

Personally, I think we did get affected after Giggs went off injured. If I remember correctly, the commentator did mentioned we go to 4-3-3 after Gibson came on for Giggs.

Fergie does not deserve this. The players should apologize to him.

Added on October 17, 2010, 9:09 amDid you guys noticed how empty the midfield is in the 2nd half? It's like the opponent can run through the mid! Scary...

Boss: It was inexplicable

QUOTE
Sir Alex Ferguson says he struggled to comprehend the goals United conceded in Saturday’s shock 2-2 draw against West Bromwich Albion, but he was in no doubt that the Reds should have killed off the Baggies before those chaotic, costly five minutes at the start of the second half.

The United boss didn’t pin the blame on Edwin van der Sar, whose error gifted West Brom their second goal, but instead said his team had enough opportunities to have put the match out of sight long before then.

“From our first-half performance, which was outstanding, the criticism is that we didn’t finish them off,” the boss told MUTV. “Where it should have been 5-0 at half-time, we’ve gone in 2-0 up. That is an area we have to be concerned about.

“Everton away should have been five or six, we should have got three or four at Fulham; and we’re losing points because of it. It’s not a defining result in terms of where the league’s going to end up, but we can’t keep doing that. We are very frustrated about it. Two-nil is never a great scoreline. If you lose a goal, it gives the other team a lifeline. I always think 1-0 is better. It keeps the concentration better, you push more for the second goal.”

As for the goals conceded, Sir Alex didn’t apportion blame. “They got a real break for the first goal. I didn’t think it was a foul. But they got the luck after that, it came off the inside of Evra’s leg and it was just a bad bit of luck. The second goal… what can you say? Edwin has been playing for over 20 years as a top goalkeeper and he was probably in primary school the last time he made a mistake like that. You just have to wipe it off the slate. There’s nothing you can do about it, it was just one of these inexplicable errors.”

So United remain unbeaten, but that statistic is no consolation for damaging dropped points. “There are two ways of looking at it,” concluded Sir Alex. “If we were a team in the middle of the league you’d say we were undefeated. But for Manchester United that’s not good enough.”

We must show our character

QUOTE
Patrice Evra has urged his United team-mates to show their true mettle in the coming weeks after dropping yet more cheap points against West Brom.

Having been in a commanding position at the break thanks to goals from Javier Hernandez and Nani, the Reds failed to recover from a freakish five minutes at the start of the second period which saw the Baggies draw level.

"We need to start killing games off," a passionate Evra told MUTV. "We need to take our chances and score more goals when we can. It's not like we don't have a lot of opportunities.

"When you are 2-0 up you should go on to win the game. If you make it three or four nil that makes it very difficult for other teams to come back. But when you keep things at the same tempo and it's still only 2-0, the opposition only need to score one goal to make things difficult for you. Everyone must take their share of the blame, not just the defence.

"For it to happen once is okay, but twice... I remember talking about the same thing after we played Liverpool saying I hope we don't give away a lead again like we did that day, but we did it again today.

"We have two choices - either we accept it or we don't accept it and I think it's the moment to not accept it," he added. "We're still unbeaten, but, to me, five draws almost feels like we have lost games. It's not Manchester United. We need to work hard and show our character and I'm confident we can do that."

Giggs faces spell on sidelines

QUOTE
It looks like United will be without Ryan Giggs for an extended period of time after the Welshman suffered a recurrence of the hamstring in jury that forced him off against Bolton Wanderers back in September.

Giggs was forced off shortly before half-time against West Bromwich Albion, and United missed him badly in the second half.

The 36-year-old had trained all week and looked to be over the hamstring problem, but he suffered a relapse and he will need to be rested.

“The loss of Ryan as a wide player was a big one for us,” said Sir Alex. “He’s done his hamstring again. He got it against Bolton but he’d trained all week. He’d been doing very well, but it’s gone again and maybe we need to give him a longer recovery.”

Giggs’ departure from the game made a real difference as United didn’t have a natural winger on the bench to bring on in his place.

“We had a problem with Ryan coming off,” explained the boss. “We maybe didn’t have enough cover in the wide positions. Bebe had picked up a knock. He’s OK, but we decided to leave him out.”

for liverpool fans, they happy because united slimmer chance to win the 19th now ...

since 2-2 draw with fulham, some player tell the press can't make the same mistake but it happen again and again ...

i think united mission now is to compete the 3rd spot ...
