Will not eat my own pet fish.

I think u still can keep it for few months before trading it. U can get higher price + experience of keeping it.

Its hard to find now. Even if u find in some LFS, they just put on display, and may not sell it. Yeah its quite pricey. I bought mine since 2008, still baby FRT at RM100. He was about this size

user posted image

I have seen FRT priced more than rm1k in LFS before. I was told that The Sultan himself bought FRTs as his pet, beside Arapaimas and other SPs.

If u can find baby FRT, i'd say go for them. Otherwise the price will be very pricey. They are vulnerable species as well, and protected by CITES sweat.gif

I think aquarist shouldnt get arapaima unless they have a pond or a very large tank.

I'm studying about Spotted Gar (Lepisosteus oculatus). Being smallest of gars family, even they can grow up to 2-3' sweat.gif

Update of my Bichirs, last nite both of them finishes 10 feeder fishes, ALL clear flex.gif

Yes they can get to the same size as sea turtles. Thats why if i wish to keep on owning this SP, the need for a pond is inevitable.

U can still keep it for other few months, then maybe u can try to sell it or trade in.

*Yesterday i bought a pair of normal carp/ goldfish, about 3-4". They swim happily in my tank and ate a lot. Last nite my dragons killed one of them. I should've known that, as these bichirs are monsters. They'll try to eat anything that can fit in their mouth. Not to mention gulping 5-6 small fishes in a single night! Huhu..

Hi. I think u hv already known that arapaimas grow very fast, maybe u hv a large tank to house them. Arapaima should not be very difficult to find. Even in LFS here got selling, i think about rm400 for small size. The bigger one also got, but dont know if they sell it or not.
