U shouldnt take sand or gravels from rivers, since they might contain unwanted elements. U dont want strange creatures lurking in ur aquarium later. Buy gravels from local shops, they should have variety of choice.

Important I think mixing plecos or any sucker fish is a really bad idea. Even in the video we can see the pleco sucking on bichir's body. Pity them bro.

At a glance, i think ur bichirs are endlicheri & senegalus, perhaps.
*
Noted bro. Will put those pleco away asap. Huhu. I
thought they were cleaning those bichir. Yes. U r rite. Senegal is cheap. But the endlicheri is pretty pricey.( or I am being conned?) Most shop here sell those colourful gravel n I hate them.

Added on October 2, 2012, 12:34 pmHow about putting crayfish?? To clean all the waste?? Can?? Are plastic plant ok?? Those real plant is hard to take care of rite??? I dun know how to start. Adoi. Never thought it is this hard.

Yeah endlicheri is the most pricey i think.

Me too i dont like colourful gravel, they dont look natural. One more thing is, bichirs love to hide, so they really appreciate hiding spots like woods, tunnels or big rocks or plants.

BTW what u feed them?

*I always use plastic plants, cuz my turtle will damage natural plants real fast biggrin.gif
*
Huhu. Rite now I just give them small fish. I've put pallet but they seems just to ignore it. Huhu. Maybe i'll train them later to accept pallet. Haha the senegal always eat like hell till their body looks like exploding. Will put rock later. N wood. And plastic plant. Dun have much time. Only free on weekend. :-(

Added on October 2, 2012, 12:59 pm3ft tank is sufficient?? Do the size of the tank will affect the fish growth rate??

Silver Rasbora, is it this fish? Or silver shark?

http://www.seriouslyfish.com/wp-content/up...nia-HJ-Chen.jpg
I think we're in the same boat here. I wanna keep gars too, but scared they'll outgrow my tank very soon. Bichirs are bottom dwellers, and could be quite boring sometimes. So i think my tank need another surface fish, preferably the active ones.

Do u guys think arowana is a good choice to house with Bichirs?
*
Yeah. I'm also thinking of arowana. Ok. This weekend. My gar will have to start to learn to take care of itself in the wild. Gunung lambak. Here I come!!!

Will not eat my own pet fish.

I think u still can keep it for few months before trading it. U can get higher price + experience of keeping it.
*

Its hard to find now. Even if u find in some LFS, they just put on display, and may not sell it. Yeah its quite pricey. I bought mine since 2008, still baby FRT at RM100. He was about this size

user posted image

I have seen FRT priced more than rm1k in LFS before. I was told that The Sultan himself bought FRTs as his pet, beside Arapaimas and other SPs.
*
Woohoo man. Super cute. Huhu. So pricey. No no for me. :-( .last week saw 1 arapaimas selling for rm 380.. Size about 5 to 8 inch I think. The fish looks super aggresive. Restless. Dark gold-green in colour.. what tank suit them?? 20 ft..?? lol..

Added on October 3, 2012, 8:17 pmI think 5 years from now I will probably have a 10 footer in my house. This hobby is so poison one. Haha.
