Cool thread!

Okay just bought a Spotted Gar and a red tailed catfish just two days ago. And then today(After gaji masuk rclxm9.gif ) bought somemore a bichir and a pair of tiger shovelnose fish.

My idea was to have exotic fishes in the tank? Or in other words uncommon/rare fishes la.. brows.gif

P.S: My tank is a 4 x 1.5 x 1.5 feet

So below are some pics of them:

Hey, already found a shop selling Pacu's at Sg Buloh. Not really Sg Buloh town la, just the same row as the nursery's, near Kota Dsara junction. Very 18SG! rclxms.gif

Btw, not bad of an Aquarium shop there. They have lots of fishes. Dwarf snakeheads, bichirs, kaloi, barbs, oscars, knife fishes, catfishes, plecos, etc. I was interested with the dwarf snakehead tho. (Channa Bleheri) Quite interesting.

And they have this 6 feet tank with a few Lapradei's(i think) inside. All average size of 15 inches? Nice to see.

how cool is that if our house walls are the tank...go kitchen see monster,go to bed again c monster, go toilet also c monster...hahahahahaha  thumbup.gif
That would be superbly fantastic! Haha rclxms.gif

Anyways, need help. Seems that my spotted gar now spends most of its time on the tank floor. Changed water, I checked water conditions ok, its appetite also not affected. Just that its not that active as its used to. Feeding time ok la, he'll be out n about eating. But after that, he'll only lepak at the same spot. This happened a few days ago and im kinda worried.

He doesnt look lethargic or tired or stressed, just calmly lpak at the tank floor. doh.gif

Is this going to be a problem? Anybody else experiencing the same thing?

P.S: Mine is a 4 feet tank with a Silver aro, RTC and an Oscar. Pic below:

well aimank_88..mine spotted gar also like urs..active on feeding time..
when the first time putting him in the tank..he was quite active upper swimmer..
few weeks after undergo my tank feeding schedule...he start to lepak on the floor..especially after feeding and few hours before feeding...
in my opinion..maybe he kind of hibernating to save his energy...hahaha
nothing wrong with it since he look healthy so far...
any other sifu can help us on this?  icon_question.gif

nway going for CNY holiday for 4days...just asking ur opinion on feeding preparation.
what shud we do when there is nobody @home to feed them?put extra feeder fish b4 takoff?
*
Thx for sharing! Thats a relief. Hehe.

Yea, he looks like he's hibernating. Or maybe he's downright lazy or bored of the tank. Thats why earlier he was active! Haha

Btw, how about holiday food? tongue.gif

plan to add oscar to my tank. i got more than 1ft aligator gar.
possible to put baby oscar? or wait till the oscar biger than gar's mouth??
*
Err better to wait till the oscar is bigger. Gar's can surprise u with the size of the food they eat, considering their mouth is quite small if u see just like that. Plus alligator gar can get bigger than spotted gar's if im not mistaken?

problem solve...(hopefully)hehehe
i put a divider in the tank...fill up around 100 feeder fish
then make a small hole on divider..just nice for feeder fish to pass thru..
after 10minutes..7 feeder has pass thru..best thing they can enter back into the cage..hehehe
hopefully this will work and supply enough for my monster..

Wow thats brilliant! It should work! Plus, your not around for only 4 days they should be fine. I know some LFS they feed their fishes only once a week. Crazy huh.

The mucus looks like saliva, or perhaps frog slime? Haha. Sort of like that la. Has it got to do with ammonia concentration? Just asking tho
