I'm really torn between this and the desire HD. My main question is the hinge. Yes, the hinge. Does any of you owners here find any issue with the hinge? Does it get loose over time or anything? I read the thread at xda and I'm getting more and more confused.
What I was concerned about wasn't the 'loose' feeling. I know its like as I tried it at the shop before. I know it will be like that and that's not the issue. What I was concerned about is some units being more loose than others, its the inconsistency of units, not the tilt 90 degree will drop thing. and I'm asking it here simply because I want to know if the batch you guys received are more loose or not.
Besides, I had finished my question earlier and did not argue, why bother to drag it further?
Ah. Its ok, both have misunderstood. Sorry about that.
Anyways, the only significant diff I find about g2 and Z is the partition for the internal memory, does it make a real difference? You guys have the Z or the G2?
I looked at the spec sheets and noticed that the operating bands for the network for g2 and Z is a bit different. Will it affect anything? Can HSDPA be used properly for digi for example?
Its the same case as when desire and legend were released at the same time, people opt for the one that literally is better. And seeing that both these phones were released at the same rrp, for sure less will go for the Z.
But, do note that the g2 is almost exactly the same as Z. Both are the HTC Vision (codename for the hardware of Z and G2). So that means both mods by xda work vice versa. And there are so many well known modders that started work on it already. For example, the infamous VillainROM.
yups u r right, or at least that is how it suppose to be.
bcoz my dell streak which is also using a tft lcd, and at 5" screen with the same resolution, it should look worse right? but Dell manages to make it looks nice.
i wonder why malaysian all too crazy about DHD compare to DZ. in xda, the supports for DZ is way better than DHD..
Its simple,
Normally people look for this : Screen size, RAM, and processor speed. And since both phones' prices are similar, many pick the obvious choice. Of course, some beg to differ, like for example the G2 still holds the best Quadrant scores and stuff.
Another issue is that many people nowadays are scared of ribbon problems. The majority rather play safe and go with phones with non-moving parts than rely on the assurance of what people said.
well guys. I will getting this phone soon..i just wondering you guys have any good case to suggest for this phone? This aint like if4 with bunch of case. So it not easy to find a DZ case i like..
^somebody organising bulk in Garage Sales IIRC. Initially intended for DHD cases but he opened it up to all Otterbox cases. Browse around DHD thread. Got one user's signature got the link.
You could also PM sanosizo for otterbox cases, a recommended seller
yup... but still can't find it...they said no stock...i don know why?
What kind of pouch are you looking for? If its a slip on pouch it should be quite easy to find one. Don't need to be specifically for Desire Z, like DJFoo000 said, its quite generic. Some pouches for other phones can fit the Desire Z (for example, a pouch for the HTC Mozart should also fit a Desire Z).
Best way is to look around at Lowyat Plaza. There's one shop where they have a huge load of pouches that you can try on if you like, see which one fits, then ask its for what model. After that look for pouches of that model
My confidence boost higher after watching this video.
Man , ganaZ gila laki ni, now this is the REAL hinge review. Must watch smpai habis
I saw that vid some time back when I was considering on buying this phone, man was I shocked at what he did lol
@DJFoo000 Creating videos about the Z is not a bad idea at all, at least people get a better idea of the hinge and stuff. You could do tutorials and things, from a local's point of view.
lol battery life will improve with usage, i reckon.
Just realised almost all Android users are obsessed with battery life at some point. It seriously takes away the fun of playing with the phone loh... Uninstalled JuicePlotter once but find myself reinstalling it to check at the graph. LOL
Anyway Sense doesn't eat up battery life la. It's the kernel that comes with the custom ROM that is relatively more efficient, IMHO. I bet you can get good battery life with Sense-based ROMs too.
What is the 'battery consumption problem' you meant?
I was once like that too, everytime looking at the battery life and status Then I got fed up and bought another battery, and bring it everywhere I go so no more worries
Sense does not eat more battery life, its either got something to do with kernels, or people forgetting to turn off auto sync on their apps and accounts
lol I think i'm the only one who kena. So far none of the other users reported the issue here before.
Lol the 睡死 issue (Direct translation = Sleep die )
I don't have a Z, but I did have that issue before with my nexus one. Woke up late one day wondering why the funky my alarm didn't rang, phone just wont wake until I did a battery pull. Have not faced a 2nd coming though.
