Garmin as of this moment does not have installable software for generic Androids. They only provided the software for their own phones (eg. Garmin Asus A50)

@boris, self restart is a common issue, as in it's not frequent, but it will happen (even on other models of Android), and nothing is wrong. Sometimes it due to the phone confusing itself and require a cool down. Haha

Regarding the sleeping beauty, the common way of dealing with it is to bring it to dealer the moment it happens. If it happens once, you can choose to observe, but the moment it happens a 2nd time it's recommended you take it in for a swap.

It will either never happen on your phone, or will keep occurring from time to time. This is based on glances of a few threads about it on the internet. (still it's only 2 months since the phone started selling, so an appropriate pool of data might not have accumulated yet)

Self restart happens to my nexus loads of times doh.gif I think it has something to do with app2sd or the memory card.

Funny thing is I have not encountered that in my Legend for a very long time already vmad.gif

Mine happened when I was using the GPS, and it caused me to miss a junction. sweat.gif

Hopefully this weekend I can read up on how to root the phone. It will be fun if I can learn how to use custom ROMs after that. Guys, show me some light! notworthy.gif

Haha.. I remembered when my cheap china GPS ran out of battery mid-destination when I was at Johor sweat.gif Luckily I had Google Maps then tongue.gif

Anyone tried to compare the UI smoothness of the DZ and DHD before? Both at stock speeds (800mhz vs 1Ghz).
What is the difference? 0.o
*
I tried with three phones tongue.gif (Z, DHD, and N1 with DHD ROM)

Its more or less the same doh.gif Except for the N1 which lags at apps like locations or when choosing theme.

^It has been mentioned many times by the LYN staff that due to the way the forum is made (something to do with it being outdated), it is near impossible to make an LYN app like XDA.

WTF type out my username so big. I exams now. After exams I got mood then I make a draft la. hahahaha
*
If I'm correct, to get an app like XDA would need the forum to support TapaTalk (which is the actual app anyways). And I think this forum is kind of too big... hmm.gif

^yaya tapatalk support or something along the lines of that. But meh a simple browser shortcut to LYN is good enough, right? These apps for websites are basically mobile versions of the website, right?

I dunno. I love Engadget, but I never thought of downloading the Engadget App. Androids are capable of rendering full sites without a hitch anyway. hahaha.
*
Well, Launcher Pro and ADW Launcher already allow shortcuts of websites to be placed on the home screen.. hmm.gif

Anyways, try out NY Times, its one of the best news app one could want for a phone (at least to me). The articles can be read offline, not to mention theres loads to read about smile.gif

I hate the fact that our very own Star didn't bother making an app for android though, I loved the one in my iPad sad.gif All we have is an aggregated news app that does not even open the full article now doh.gif

^The Star got Android app la IIRC. Type in 'malaysia' in the search box.

Or you meant the app sucks? you lost me there lol.
*
That app, although its Star, is not made by them. Its an aggregated news app made by someone else.

And yes, it sucks. Well, it used to not suck, until for no reason now the app does not even open an article anymore. Meaning you get news, but just the headings and thats it doh.gif

I think i can do it by defining lotsa regular expression, cleaning up all the unnecessary HTML tags, or maybe just load the mobile version for display, but use the apps input text box for posting. I'll try to find a way around this.
*
Oh well, counting on you then bro. wink.gif

A link from a blog will be good enough. Not recommended to make it in a post in the forum. Not nice la. Can take chance to increase your blog visitor count also  tongue.gif  If no blog then you're welcomed to outsource it to me  thumbup.gif  Last resort only post it as a post in this thread.

A private blog to us is like no blog no? sweat.gif So that solution works too.

And why in the first place should I humor you? hmm.gif

Usually owners' list only show ppl name and nothing else. How often you really want to look at the owners' list of a thread? Right? haha Our owners' list will be both an e-penis gallery (or e-boob in the case of spunkberry brows.gif) AND ppl can click to read our thoughts.

calex you got Desire Z liao? How come your e-penis gallery only show N1 and legend?

I'm trying my best not to laugh.. laugh.gif But couldn't resist. tongue.gif

I've been using a Z for two weeks, but its not mine. Just a loan from my friend cause I have not decided what to upgrade to yet doh.gif

I never liked Samsung ever since I had my Omnia HD. Horrible support for such a promising phone (*then) vmad.gif Not to mention build quality. doh.gif

The one thing I miss from Nokia is their superb speaker quality (5800). Other than that, meh.

but on a serious note, 41LY45, you serious about the captivate ah? There won't be much local support in LYN. You will have to slip in among the Galaxy S users.
*
Well, doesn't the back of the captivate still say Galaxy S? tongue.gif So technically, its still one anyways. And the methods of modding and all is the same, just different ROMs used.

Same hardware maa. But ROMs are not compatible, thats for sure.
*
Doesn't really matter, as GS ROMs normally are ported to the Captivate too courtesy of XDA smile.gif

Are there any significant hardware difference between captivate and vibrant?
*
The Galaxy S family of phones consists of these phones :

- Normal Galaxy S

- NTT Docomo SC-02B (Galaxy S without front camera)

- T-Mobile Vibrant (Galaxy S with the usual 4 android capacitive buttons instead of 3)

- AT&T Captivate (Redesigned Galaxy S, also with standard 4 android capacitive buttons instead of 3)

- Epic 4G (Redesigned Galaxy S with hardware QWERTY keyboard [CDMA network])

- Continuum (Redesigned Galaxy S, screen only 3.4 inches in size, but with an extra 1.8 'ticker' screen at the bottom [CDMA network])

sup everyone, i just flash my desire z to virtuous ROM. i just wondering
The internal storage available after i installed some games is around 840MB.

Which somehow i feel it might not enough for me in future. So you guys have any ideas which can add the feature of something like data2sd? Since i own a 16gb card.
*
You know, 840MB is way more than enough for installing stuff.. sweat.gif
Even app2sd usually only has a partition of 1GB total, your Z already has 1.5GB internal memory in the first place, so thats not really needed either.
