Sadly the G2 that is available in US does not support certain bands in Asia sad.gif. There goes my hope of getting the G2 and flash over the Desire Z's ROM.

Guess no choice but to get the Desire Z. Pity it only has 1.5GB of ROM instead of the G2's 4GB.

1.5GB or 4GB, still we would use microSD card.. For advanced user, surely they will use A2SD+

The advantages of having built in ROM should be for higher I/O speeds smile.gif.

but i see that samsung galaxy S has to use lagfix to improve the I/O which partially solves the lag sweat.gif .. 3D games seems to run fine on the HTC Desire even when it is moved to the SD card. Higher internal also leads to a higher pricing supposely. They are balancing it out to mantain under an acceptable price

True on the higher price, but the Galaxy S lag problem was not due to the physical memory, rather the poor implementation on software. The lagfix fixed that problem and as a result, caused the I/O marks to soar in quadrant benchmarks.
Even the droid2 has large ROM, which gives it an edge in I/O.

It wouldnt hurt to have more ROM, but if the price increase is much then i rather have it less then tongue.gif

Hardware keyboard only appeals to people that well, like to use keyboard tongue.gif.
Candybar touchscreen form factor is still the most popular choice.

If you type alot, or you plan to use it to make long docs, type alot of sms,or just prefer tactile feedback, then only you'd be attracted to the Desire Z =D

I think the Desire HD thread is longer just because of the display type argument. smile.gif I prefer Desire Z. I'm putting it on my wishlist. The feel of a keyboard is rather satisfying. Also, I found a Youtube video that showed both Z & HD side to side, and I think the display on Z is much clearer. I wonder why...

Really hope Maxis subsidizes well for this phone... if not going for Iphone 4 seems more logical choice bcos is cheap under Maxis plan...

Even the package heavily side the Iphone package:
Same price (RM100 - Apple iValue1, RM 50+48 - Android) but for android package is 500MB less data, no 20 MMS n 200 SMS free. Not to mention there are cheaper phone price for those who are a heavy user.

Any reason for that? Are Maxis promoting Iphone over Android?

I think the posibility is small:
1) its HTC's first android keyboarder
2) It has vanilla android in form of G2. Once updates is out for G2, can straight apply to Desire Z, altho Sense-less, but at least still very much alive. I mean look at G1. Mods managed to put Froyo into G1, so im sure mod support for G2 would be great =D.
3) I think the Desire line will be the staple of HTC for some time smile.gif.

Its mentioned at various other places that its LCD, so there are alot of conflicting reports
same for Desire HD
but as of now, there is no official confirmation from HTC, so we cant be confirmed
but chances are high that for 3.7", its a SLCD since its used in the desire

Actually my biggest concern is the date D Z coming to M'sia and does it support 3.0

Alright, i know i'm back with the 3.0 question tongue.gif but i think it is really important here. If I was those guy who aren't concern bout the future of my phone, i will definitely get Iphone. Android seems interesting to me because of their rapid improving OS. But whats the point if a near-flagship phone (desire Z) is unable to support the next update android OS? It will be just the same as iOS, no improvement at all then I might as well turn to nowadays cheap iphone4 plan. Btw, no point in discussing this things right here as there are no concrete message leak out from Google yet. yawn.gif I guess 'wait' is the best answer... icon_rolleyes.gif
