Torrent about 30GB already, IPTV also. Mine is working well in bridge mode since Sept 1, but I still gonna order that RB250GS for heavy duty usage + backup.

I am not sure how this point system works, I have got 100 points on my unifi acc now, does it means for every point I use on that 100 points, TM will charge me at the end of month?

besides when they can actually offer a web portal for password change for Unifi internet acc, VOIP acc, Streamyx zone acc?

I did try BlackVPN and it can stream Hulu on Unifi VIP5. On certain days I get more buffering so it's not perfect.

Btw, does anyone know when TM will start charging for VOD? Currently all I see are the 100 points - how often are they "topped" up while still free?
*

It is quite confusing after reading the FAQ, I have no idea how this point system work,

First they said it is free until Sept, then they said points will automatically reset/top back up to 100points on 1st day of each month, and they said u cannot get more than 100points in a month. If that 100points is free how TM gonna charge us the extra usage since it doesnt go more than 100. Everything is contradicts each other, does make any sense at all.

So I am quite confuse, are they gonna bill us for each point we use on the 100 point they gave us or there is another way of charging. hmm.gif rclxub.gif

I Emailed them asking regarding this, no response so far.

I think TM have not decided on this stuff yet, so enjoy it while its free. smile.gif
*

the FAQ said it is free until Sept, so it is still quite confuse who is right/wrong. The system is not following what the FAQ and announcement said.

It will be a HUGE fail if we use up all the 100 points then at the end of the month only realize that arent free & TM drop a bomb in ur bill.

Hehe you're lucky biggrin.gif  the installers told me underground cabling got lots of complications, easiest installations are those done from the telephone poles. He said my house developer wanted to make the area more 'cantik' by not putting those telephone poles  sweat.gif
*

Well it is the same for me underground cable here too, they took 9hours to complete my installations. sweat.gif

External fiber come out from the TNB sewer cover inside my house storeroom(below stairs), then my telephone hub is @ there. doh.gif Because of that my BTU have to be inside my storeroom, so they can wire the VOIP output from BTU to the telephone hub to make all the phone wall socket in 3 storey my house work. sweat.gif then my TV is @ second floor, they have to wire the full 30meter CAT5e cable to second floor TV, my computer is @ another room, I had to use home plug to connect my own router to 615 that is location next to my TV in living room.

Most sad thing is my BTU @ Storeroom is doh.gif everytime need to config BTU need to bring notebook hide inside storeroom. sweat.gif

Actually no need, for VOIP to connect to all your phone sockets in your house is very easy. just plug a RJ11 cable from BTU to any of your phone socket (e.g. in your computer room), and it will work on all other sockets that is connected to it. It doesn't need to be specifically connected to the telephone hub in the store room.
*

I know that solution, plugging that will make all my phone socket Unifi phone number but my BTU is force to be in storeroom and also there is no phone socket there, and the hub is just right now.

I am keeping my existing phone number, so the hub is the best way to determine which socket is for unifi phone and which one is for regular ones. Right now Having 2 phone numbers I can have fax coming in while someone in my house using phone. rclxm9.gif

so I guess those who are using underground cables will most likely end up fiber coming out from storeroom.

Thx for sharing, your house must've been pretty messy after they were done!
They said they couldn't.. must hack the road,zzz.. Sigh, now i have to wait for the installers to submit their report to TM, then wait for TM's CS to call me back. Wonder how long that'll be. I really hope they can solve my problem. The damn cables are right in front of my house, not like its few houses away! Their excuse:Need permit. As i said, my neighbours contractor hack his road,no problem.  icon_question.gif  rclxub.gif

@akerue If my HSBB was installed today i probably would've bought your extra Mikrotik RB250GS off ya straight away, COD @ curve,1 utama, even better, so near my house. Now i dont even know whether i can get HSBB installed. doh.gif
*

Is telephone lines are underground also? how about power line? As far as I know for houses that have telephone lines and power lines underground, pass underground directly to inside ur house powerbox.

If you are this kind of house just follow the path of telephone line. Thats what the contractors do in my house. I got a dry sewer, they pull the cable following telephone cables to the telephone hub in my storeroom.According to the pic, there is no other way, u need to figure out how to remove ur shoe-rack, you need a place for the cables to come out from underground. From the pic, looks like u need to figure out how. sweat.gif because that hole is the only hole coming out. I never reno my house blocking those sewer holes.

Prepare 8hours for this kind of installation it is quite headache. sweat.gif

mine is 9hours I hope it is not highest record in Malaysia lol

I have set up the Mikrotik RB250GS per rizvanrp's instructions. Everything is working fine, except the IPTV is jerky. Is it my wrong setting or is it because the RB250GS is not powerful enough for the IPTV bandwidth?
*

I think it has nothing todo with RB250GS performance, RB250GS is a gigabit switch, you only need 8mbps out of 1000mbps that RB250GS has for IPTV. Something must be wrong at your side.

Just applied UniFi at TMPoint today... but the installation date is on 8th Oct... will I still get installation fee waived?? or i need to pay for it???
Anything need to know during the installation?? btw, I'm staying in apartment...
*

Keep the receipt you have to prove you applied b4 Oct. that paper worth RM200-300

TMpoint are so sucky these days that, they could wait a full stack of customer application then only send 1 lumsum to Unifi Department, so dont be surprise they send ur application after Oct to Unifi.

well i guess they need to activate the account by that day or next day to proceed with the appointment date.. but i called directly to Unifi center to
subscribe.
*

no u are wrong, I applied @ Tmpoint , wait 2 weeks nothing come, I called Unifi center instead, I ask them to check the system, it turns out that I was unregistered to them. This prove what? TMpoint didnt do the registration for me to Unifi department. I do a phone registration via Unifi call center, the next day they email the receipt for confirmation and date of installation. Everything went well after that.

It's RB750G. I managed to configue the pppoE dialler but the rest of the interfaces cannot access the gateway. And the dhcp service on rb750g keeps disabling automatically, rendering my winbox connectivity timedout.

It's using Router Os lvl 4.1. Any networking specialist and shed a light on the configuration?
*

you need to ask those guys in Mikrotik forum. Ask them how to configure pppoe vlan 500 & vlan 600 bridge mode.(I think IPTV is in bridge mode). No many can help u here except the Mikrotik forum guys.

QUOTE(oreomambo @ Sep 25 2010, 05:32 PM)
RB750G is not for everyone. It is just a pure router without Wifi. It is only for folks who would like more flexible options that the RouterOS can offer. Stuff like QoS, fine grain control of firewall, integrated L2TP for VPN within the router, flexibility of setting up your options, monitoring of traffic, connecting to other routers and of course a solid hardware + router OS which is supported by many. For many, the RB250GS should be sufficient for resolving the Unifi issue in conjunction with out-of-the box router+wifi meant for mass users.

RB750G is RM $310, you can get it from Landasan. Not sure if they still have stock.
*

Tbh I like the RB750G customization, but I still prefer RB250GS setup, RB250GS setup allows me to watch IPTV without being actually online to internet at all. RouterOS is for power user, which I do not think I would need it as home user for everyday use. Getting a powerful home router for Sharing printer, NAS/HDD, wifi seems to be a better choice.
