I do not like Avast! due to its high rate of false positive to me.

I forget about using bitdefender because it is very very laggy when installed in my netbook.

I know about that. I just don't want to leave my netbook undefended at all.

So far, a lot of these AV are resources hogging and cloud based AVs are data hogging for it to perform better.

After my friends' linux bad experience, no thanks.

Furthermore, I am using a convertible tablet. If linux cannot support the touchscreen driver, then it defeats my purpose of buying the tablet.

just switched to eset av 4, kinda high memory usage.. constantly at 50+ mb

avira only uses around 20-30 mb (w/o webguard n mail guard) sometimes even less than 10mb when idle. but too much FPs

I thought ESET are very light? Have you used KIS?

The amount of memory used by the NOD32 processes varies according to the amount of data being scanned. For example, if you are doing a lot of heavy web surfing, the nod32krn.exe memory usage will increase. However, if you leave your computer alone for a while, the memory usage will gradually decrease.

From my personal experience, *all* of the values listed are reasonable. It just depends on how you have been using the computer lately.

It slowed my PC startup... Sometimes also blocking File Sharing Feature... Annoying... Now I am using Avira Free + Comodo Free firewall... Startup faster than using Kaspersky. Also get free Internet Security Package already...

i thought Avira have a higher false positive detection than KIS?

P/S: play your games in a PC without AV if it is not original.

I have been using legitimate KIS for more almost 3 years but it is getting worse. The update is taking forever to finish and it uses lots of memory. Thanks to everyone who is giving your suggestion in this thread. I am thinking to get other Internet Security or Antivirus and the suggestions and comments here definitely help a lot. smile.gif

Thank you for your suggestion. I may give it a try. I did see that you recommend NOD32. Is it a good , paid Antivirus program? I am quite disappointing with KIS now. It gives some false positive detection (as I use some bots and craked programs) and it is slowing down my laptop and desktop.

I might be giving a try on Avira Free + Comodo Free firewall, what do you think?
