try to re-calibrate the battery.

Root Needed, and also download terminal emulator from market.

Charge your phone fully. go to terminal type these

su
rm /data/system batterystats.bin

the irony is I charged my phone fully by 12pm before I sleep. and the battery drains to the last drop by 8am before the 3rd alarm I've set on 9am. This is annoying because sometimes it can't even make it to 7am.

like I've mentioned before, i've tried everything to save battery. how can it drains battery even when it's idle. now it sounds like voodoo is the culprit.

Ok, lets start explain what you installed, what you use, what's on your home screen, what settings

thats godlike battery compared to mine.
5 hours and 100% -> 85%
1. wifi off, 3g connection yes, but i did not use any data, auto-sync is off
2. gmail + gtalk off
3. no widgets running except the stock touchwiz one, but it hasn't synced since yesterday.
4. no launcher pro
5. total less than 10 mins phone call
6. total less than 20 sms
7. no surfing
8. the stock wallpaper from the box (but screen was on for only 18 minutes in total)

clearly my phone is *******. im running on voodoo lagfix beta4.. stock firmware
*
Try use 2G, i know you're using 3G and not syncing. But try to change to 2G and see, normally it gave HUGE different.

Go to Settings > Wireless and Network -> mobile network - > network mode choose GSM ONLY

I've already stated before this. I've turned off everything. tried even the airplane mode.

the last thing i can try is the original firmware.

btw, anything wrong with the freeversion of juicedefender?
*
Try not to use juice defender or any battery management app, might back fire.

Sent in my galaxy to samsung centre plaza singapore at 1130am
got set back flash original fw at 3pm same day. Best of all is free as set under warranty.
They did not even ask for warranty card only check serial no.
So will be busy again flashing newer roms

Nice, at least we know Samsung still accepts "Bricked phone" without asking "what happened"

So go for JM8 + voodoo for now i reckon
can try this custom themed JM8 rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=774950

go to market, download OCLF
Or voodoo, the link is somewhere in this forum.

OCLF is easier to implement, but not as effective.
Voodoo is faster, but doesn't work for 2.2
*
and voodoo can't be cleared by just flashing the phone, make sure you disable it before flashing new firmware, if not might brick your phone

hmm, i start to hesitate to apply voodoo fix or not ediĀ  biggrin.gif
anyway i find today is a sad day for me, because maxis iphone 4's price is competitive to SGS, and causing some ppl initially wanted to jump wagon to android, but now they stayed on iOSĀ  cry.gif

People, do you mean yourself?

I would say iPhone 4 is a good phone, but if you're used to the freedom of android, is hard to get use to iOS.

imaging you can't transfer files by drag and drop, must use iTunes, can't send files to any phone other than iphone using bluetooth, quite an hassle.

But the number of quality apps vs quality apps in android they still win. But android is getting stronger too.

I really hope google will enhanced the UI and also transition animation and also GPU hardware acceleration in the next version

@angel-girl

it takes 5 minutes to 10 minutes, be patience

Check both of your internal SD and external SD, is there any weird naming file? They said that's the thing that causing it.

Easiest is to format both SD card clean

Froyo delayed, latest update and quote from : http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/21/samsung...r-late-october/

Samsung's indicated in the past that all versions of its ubiquitous Galaxy S would be getting Froyo upgrades in harmony (more or less) -- and it had also indicated that those updates would be happening in September. Well, you know how these things tend to go: plans change, bugs crop up, engineers go on vacation at inopportune times, and delays happen. On that note, Samsung Mobile's Spanish division is now saying that the Galaxy S will be getting Froyo in "late October" through the Kies desktop app, though we don't know whether EspaƱa speaks for the rest of the world -- it's entirely possible that this is a Spain-specific announcement. More on this one as we get it, but for now, we wouldn't count on many (if any) of these bad boys getting official updates in the next few days.
*
This news is for spain, hopefully Spain is not the first country to release it. Means we might still get it earlier than late October

And yes I'm not hoping for Official Malaysia version, just ANY OFFICIAL Froyo will do, then XDA will do the rest of the job biggrin.gif

another question.. is there a way to let apps install in internal SD or external SD?
*
You need froyo for App2SD.

Anyway, SGS has 2GB space for install apps, which is ALOT compared to other android phones, so why you need to install in other places?

Thanks, I managed to install Market Access already. Can't wait to check out the paid applications and games....

but....opps...i don't know how to use market access....blur...
Is this the way to use it?
1) When i open the apps, under Settings tab, i see a SIM numeric number. Do i backup value this number first? and then check the box Emulate on boot.

2) Then go to next Tab (Providers) and look for let's say T-mobile US 310260 and remember this number.

3) Then i go to the 3rd tab (Custom) and key in the number 310260.

4) Then reboot phone?

5) Then how to revert back to original Malaysia maxis setting? Do i repeat the process above using the original backup SIM numeric number?

Thanks
*
go 2nd Tab, just press T-Mobile, then it will process to change to T-Mobile.

Then go to market and see.

it will be gone after reboot, so don't worry about it

Want to ask.
How to upgrade from voodoo beta 4 to voodoo lagfix 3.0?
Give exact step kay?
What i had in mind:
Disable lagfix first, then install update.zip in recovery.
Correct or not?
BTW i ask this because i dont want to re-flash my firmware. Too much hassle. no time lorr.
*
No, just flash update.zip (voodoo lagfix 3.0) like normal

Unless you want to flash other firmware only you need to remove voodoo

Some better news for Froyo
http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/22/samsung...le-uk-customer/

Samsung UK said end of this month, as I told you, don't use Spain as the first country who gets it, but don't hope Malaysia can get by end of this month.
