Go for cheaper LGA1156, ie i5 altho phasing out but not too soon as the upcoming LGA1155 aka Sandy Bridge wont be cheap, yet.

I still got 2pcs of GTX480s sit under my bed hehe.. sayang to let go cheap2 huhu
cooled by EK FC480GTX originally for GTX480, it fits nicely on GTX580 as well due to almost identical PCBs between these two series.

Rich ppl sad.gif

1.138v can get damn high clock, 930mhz already, I wonder if the BIOS is modded, maybe can reach 1000mhz? drool.gif

think so, but actually SLI consumes more voltage. Saw someone clocks single GTX580 up to 950mhz at 1.025v only.
waiting for modded bios from XS guy, with limit up to 1.212v haha

It's difficult to determine my graphic card OC stability because, when I'm using Furmark or Kombustor I see no artifact.

But when in-game, on a certain game I can see graphic glitch, but not all game got that. So how do I check whether it's my graphic card or the game itself.

Most of the games that I've encountered graphical glitch are the ones that is using DX11.

What's graphic glitch? Ghosting? If it passes Furmark you're good to go and that problem you're experiencing might be something else. If it's not stable, the whole screen would've hung or go blank.

It's hard to explain here, gonna need to record it. It happens randomly, not all the time.

Maybe it's too hot sometimes? Another reason is maybe your card isn't suited for your rig. Hence, you can sell your GTX 480 to me for RM500.

1) Bad OC? Dun OC ur CPU & GPU
2) PSU is dying? Get another PSU to test
3) Don't trust ur system? Try on other PC
4) Some latest DX11 hv glitches ie AvP with audio issues > 48000Hz which is causing sudden shutdown during gameplay. Dirt2 conflicts with onboard audio. BC2 in one tank mission horizontal lines appear. Sometimes u hv to play with VSync etc
5) Sell it to Mr Alvin for RM500, if found faulty

Turning Vsync on will certainly help in graphics tearing but that would also mean you will cap your frame rates. Basically I don't think it's even an instability problem. If the OC is not stable, I doubt you can still enjoy games with a bit of glitch here and there but instead, it would just give you a nice plain coloured screen or hang on the spot.

Yupe i keep using the stock pads comes with the gtx580s.
Put wb pad on top of em to make it 2 layers. Somehow im not sure whether 1 layer is enuf to contact with wb.
Sadly i cant monitor vrm temp in gpuz.

Btw I don't have many PSU, or other extra hardwares to test around. About the temp, it only reaches around 85'c in the problematic game, which the temperature I think is acceptable for a GTX480 with air cooling.
