u compare d3100/d7000 with 5dmark2 or new replacement model for d700?

Just my view on that. You think a big corporation like Nikon will sit there and let Canon to monopolize the whole market ?
Nikon is planning something to counter back. And they can't mess with it. Is DO or DIE.
So, my guess is that both D3100 (beginner) and D7000 (intermediate and slightly above D90) are for market testing whereby they collect the feedback about pros and cons of their new sensor.

Well, I might be wrong on this but just my point of view.

Lab rats ? I doubt so. It will be a camera, just that it might not perfect yet.

Will you compare Accord with Saga ?

But seriously, I too can't resist with 5DMKII especially when my friend throw me 50L, 24L, 135L, 17-40L, 14L, 70-200L to play with

should i sell off my tripod and get monopod? tripod feels bulky

I'm getting bored with those 50mm f/1.2L, 85mm f/1.2L and 70-200 f/2.8 ISII used by my friends (1Dmk4(s) and 5dmk2(s)), always poisoning me yawn. Oh and also the 24mm f/1.4L but good thing I'm not into such lens xD.

Actually because everytime I use the 5dmk2 or 1Dmk4, I always need to search for the buttons. Not used to it . The other day when shooting with friend's D3+70200 f/2.8, then my friend told me that his 5dmk2 + 85mm f/1.2L better, so he borrowed me and went toilet.. I took a few shots then went back with the D3 wahahaha. Not nice to handle and not user friendly!

LOL, not sure what is CMM. But my bunch of friends using Canon are all very rich... so basically almost all lens below 200mm f/2 is available for playing xD.

What I can recall is probably 24 f/1.4, 50 f/1.2, 85 f/1.2, 70200 f/2.8 ISII, 70200 f/2.8 IS, 70200 f/4 IS, 100 macro, 16-35 f/2.8... the rest is those normal lens I guess...

Oh wait, got that fish eye too lol. Cute lens.

Another point is that the D7000 weight similar to the D90 rather than the D300s.
