The closest to N900 is actually Milestone and now the Milestone 2 which is better, have similar form factor, keyboard, etc.iPhone4 you will loose physical keyboard and loose lots of freedom, loose true multi-tasking, loose contacts integration, loose desktop, loose widgets, and many more; What you gain is smoothness, response, apps, games and finally, FAME/BRAND/ATTENTION.
Not sure how many N900 users willing to switch to iPhone4 since there're so many "real" smartphone out there and some which are more powerful, plus Android is gaining lots of popularity and apps/games development.
Then upcoming, there's MeeGo.
Finally, you can buy iPod Touch 4 at much cheaper price, you can save up to RM1.5K by getting iPod Touch 4, and then spend RM1.5K on many "real" smartphones.
If your intention is for the games, getting iPod Touch 4 shouldn't be a problem as you don't really have to carry it everywhere, it's just like having a PSP Touch (no physical buttons).
Of course, some people may think better to get all in one; well, yes, it depends on your $$$ and how you spend it. So, if one think it's worth paying extra RM1.5K just to get the Phone function, then just go for it, there's no wrong or right; just like some people willing to pay few thousand for a "brand", it's the person's choice.
