my poodle is in heat for the past 1 week plus...she seems restless today. is this normal? and is it also normal for her private part to be swollen as well?
*
Should be normal. She is probably hitting the second phase of the heat (where they are most fertile) so her hormones might be going a little extra haywire. Female dogs (just like female humans) can react to heat/period in all sorts of strange ways. My poodle girl clearly gets PMS and will be depressed and sleeping a few days before her heat kicks in. My Papillon girl sulks and is moody for anywhere between a week and 2 months after her heat (she is also a total wh*** during her fertile period and will stick her butt towards anything that moves as well as hump anything she can get her hands on, very disturbing but fortunately only lasts a few days). Another poodle girl i know gets really hyper for the first week of her heat and only sleeps about 2 hours a day, spending the rest of the day zooming around at top speed getting in the way of everything she possibly can and barking at everyone she sees (not usual behavior for her, under normal circumstances she is very calm, quiet and reserved).

The swelling should also be normal. Again different females swell to different sizes, some have very minimal swelling and its hard to see any difference whereas other swell to over double the size are very red and clearly quite uncomfortable. She may lick herself more than usual, which is fine and healthy as long as she doesn't seem to be irritating the area (they usually don't but some obsessive licking can damage the sensitive and swollen skin). You might also see her breasts swell a bit and some females get hot spots during or just after their heat (due to the hormones).

Both Shampoo i also using for my doggie. Yu fragrance very strong. Pet esther is more than 99% of the ingredients that make their way into rivers and oceans are decomposed by microorganisms and bacteria.

Sometime my fren bring his dog come and use my Pet esther shampoo until last time I gave her try Yu on her poodle after blow dry She immediately said "I prefer Pet esthe". Can immediately feel the different.

Sometime after I shower at my work place. I took pet esther Mud shampoo series wash my hair. icon_idea.gif

it's not just a matter of being cleaner. What makes a shampoo so fragrant? U hv to read its ingredients at the label. Pet Esthe is environmentally frenly and it has a lot of aesthetic values. I feel safe using such products. For example, before this, whenever my poodles have yeast/fungal infection, i always had to use Malaseb which is a medicated shampoo and it dries up the fur after awhile. And u know we hv to use it for at least twice a week for a mth. Then, we hv to top up on the coat/skin supplement otherwise our poodles' fur will turn dull n dry. But now, i dare to replace Malaseb with Pet Esthe Charcoal shampoo which has similar effect and not damaging at all.

What does Hiki require? What effects do u wanna see on ur baby? Pet Esthe has a wide range.

yes.. Pet esthe range is huge. I also don't know which range i should buy. All i want is she smells good and better fur texture (softer n shinier). Hiki is more to like red colour. So should i get the colour restoration system range / the mud type?

yeah...every owner oso wants their furkid to smell good. Me too...so i did try Yu for 2 times at the groomer's and both times oso, my son developed rashes. And once i accidentally washed my hands with Yu at a fren's place coz i thot it was a hand wash but put inside a recycled Yu bottle. Then, both my hands felt as if they were poured acid - sting and pulling sensation and red. Now, if my skin cant tolerate Yu, how can my furkids when their skin is thinner?

And another thing we shud rber is dogs have very good smell sense. If a shampoo smells so good/strong to us, it;s even worst for them. Our objective of bathing them is to make them clean, not perfumed!!

Pet Esthe Professional series if for those on a budget. It doesnt hv the SPA effect like Mud and Mud SPA series. If u wanna use Charcoal & colour restoration, u HAVE to use it with its conditioner for best results.

nvr bring ur puppy out to anywhere except to vet. they are very week at this stage and virus can attack them easily. Plus, shaving them bald at this age can cause them to get cold / fever easily. try to apply frontline for him first.. =)

I have another opinion though, the puppy need to get socialize, expose to new things during that critical stage, just that you take extra cautious not to bring puppy to places with a lot of stray dogs and let your puppy moving on the ground. I think its safe to bring your dog to socialize with other dogs that are well taken care, i was regret my puppy only have few chances to visit other dogs and now she looks shy when interact with other dogs. Occasionally i brought her out to see new things, watching the moving cars and people, sounds from various objects, i think all these will help puppy to familirize with the environment. smile.gif smile.gif

No matter how well a dog is taken care of, one should be extra careful when their pup have not gotten their 3rd vaccination. Other ppls' dog might have certain virus which an older dog can sustain but not the younger pups. No matter what, DON'T SOCIALISE YOUR DOG UNTIL THEIR 3rd VACCINATION! It is only 2months away only. Just wait!
