QUOTE(yeowa @ Oct 13 2010, 07:48 PM) Just now I went to hands and paws vet to get revolution and saw the frontline for puppy between 1-10kgs is selling for RM66 only. Should be able to get for rm64 also if u know the doc personally. I will use revolution on messi on long term basis as it is a more economical as it give more protection like heartworm, mites and maige. Some of you might want to consider revolution instead of frontline + heartgard. Just to state my opinion I still prefer giving heartgard+drontal for deworming and Front line spot on combo for ticks preventions. In my opinion giving things separately as in Heartgard for heart worm, drontal for deworming and front line for tick prevention suits me better thou the price is not cheap. This is because I believe things that came in package as in Revolution (included all) might not contains all 100% prevention for all types of heartworm etc. I'm not saying heartgard, drontal n front line do provide 100% either but I've been using these products for 2 years and so far so good so I'm gonna stick with it. I just hope the price not going to increase in the future xD |

Well I get your point
the thing is... I only applied front line when I plan to bring my girls out for a walk in the park or out for holiday in which I'm practically very sensitive towards 'ticks' I bought tick shampoo and shower them with it once a month. As for heartgard, I gave them every month and drontal for 6 months once? for deworming. Since your vet recommend it to you and you've been using it well. I guess you should stick with it. As for me or other ppl who do good with our combination I think we should stick to it either. unless if they want to try la..but for me I scared to try any new things on them so I would just stick to what I've been doing all the while |

QUOTE(Divas @ Dec 6 2010, 05:32 PM) Most professional groomers will charge around 60-80RM per hour of dematting. agreed with Divas. Some groomer are just too lazy to dematt the fur and they prefer to just cut or shave. If a groomer doesn't charge you extra for dematting when your dog has a lot of tangles it is most likely because they will simply cut the mats out (rather than slowly detangle them as a professional would) leaving your dog's coat uneven and full of holes. Not only is an uneven coat ugly, it also mats faster. If you don't want to pay extra, either keep your dog in a shorter clip, groom them more often or brush them well at home My maltese kena shaved by groomer when my friend bring her to their usual groomers. When I asked, the groomer said my girl's hair is tangled to much and cannot save so they propose to my friend to shave her till botak I have no idea about it that time because my friend only told me the groomer said need to cut short and I thought really CUT SHORT, thought I tell them not to cut face and tail area but everything done.... she came back as 'chinese crested' breed instead of maltese!!!! Some more the groomer cut short the tail (which is now the tails is not growing like previously and also because her tails fur breaks a lot) and the face part cut one side short n one side long and her neck area like those beginner cut -.-" Some more I suspect the groomer treat her very badly as she got clipper burn on her body and rashes on one side due to her allergic to the clipper. She was so emo and angry when she reach home but I need to bring her to my usual groomer to help me trim her nice. From that day until now, she refuses to go for grooming and will scream/shout like dogs in pain and her body will shiver when I bring her to grooming. I'm not her to scared you all but I hope people will learn more and understand about grooming. Like Divas mentioned, professional groomers will most likely to propose you bout dematting first but not to shave all the fur cause I know sometimes there are groomers who are lazy to dematt the worst tangle and prefer to shave it as it save time and easy to do. Honestly I prefer to pay more for dematt and how they treat my kids rather than pay cheap and shave when they said need to shave. This post has been edited by muchan86: Dec 6 2010, 09:59 PM |

QUOTE(yeowa @ Mar 22 2011, 09:03 AM) You guys so geng... only a night you guys go up to 3 pages... Digi tower near my place have been down since friday morning and so damn piss with the SOS calls only reception on and off when at home... I dont have poodle but sometimes I read other threads as well and regarding BARF I do have something to say.Back to your topics... I am used to messi's poo dy... some more, most of the time he does his business in the bathroom. Right away I flush it in the toilet... His pee is more smelly, so poo is not that bad... lol... Debbie, the training aid I gave you is suppose to be sprayed on the place where you want him to do his business on... I don't know if feeding Barf is a good idea or not but I become not keen in that idea after knowing what the effect it can have on the dogs... Do you normally brush your furkid's teeth after they eat barf? Do you know that feeding barf can cause tooth decay? Some say it also have side effect like skin problem. Do you know how much is enough for your dog? Aren't you worry that after you feed barf, they become choosy in food and does not want to eat their kibbles? There are too many question mark but let me share with you what I have found on the internet... » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « First of all feeding BARF is an individual choice cause its all depends on those who believe of not bout the adv n disadv between both kibbles n BARF. For me sometimes I do prefer feeding kibbles cause its easy, I mean no need to prepare all the necessities to do the BARF. However, I must acknowledge the diff in poos for both feeding (BARF = less poo and no smell, kibbles = poo more smelly). There are also many articles on supporting and also 'rejecting' feeding raw to dogs and I've read some of them. However, on my personal experience (tried both kibbles n raw) I am now plan to switch back to BARF as 1 of my maltese was having an allergy after fed by kibbles for a month thou I dont think it was cause by the food. Anyway just some opinion from me thou I think it wont be of any help? One thing for sure, if you plan to try on barf and scared that it will become choosy over food, you should try it once they reach 1 years old. Some puppies will tend to be choosy if u fed them on barf when they're below 1 yo and most of my friend try barf for their dog when it passed 1 yo old n has no prob switching it back to kibbles |

QUOTE(yeowa @ Mar 22 2011, 09:55 PM) haha I tried not to come in so often cause it might really trigger me to get a poodle while my hands are full now QUOTE(debbieyss @ Mar 22 2011, 10:27 PM) Hi muchan, if your maltese's allergy isn't caused by the food (you mean kibbles?), then why you don't choose another brand of kibble instead of switching back to barf? I've tried artemis, regal and now! brands thou I fed artemis more often than those brands. In fact, for the past month they were on artemis but only autumn was found rashes on her body while Jasmine, my adopted maltese have no issue at all. I do think of switching to now! brand which is grain free and some were also good for sensitive skin or allergies but I do thought of switching it back to barf cause autumn was on barf ever since she was puppy and when I fed her kibbles it was not a fully fed (morning kibbles, night barf). While this happen because she was fed with kibbles for the whole months. Been to vet and the med seems like no improvement so I am now spraying magic mist onto her skin/body and plan to switch back to barf to see if there's any improvement. Well... should say that I'm more comfortable switching it back to barf compare to other brands of kibbles cause with barf I know how much I should fed while for kibbles I just simple gave them the amount of how much I 'thought' it would good for them |

QUOTE(debbieyss @ Mar 22 2011, 11:06 PM) Meaning if you really feeding barf, it isn't on a consistent basis? Don't you want to observe for a month or so if barf really improve their skin problems and health condition? This time I plan to switch it fully back to barf unless I face some prob which need me to fed them back on kibbles. This might sound weird but this decision is made with the thought that I believe switching it back to barf could help with her skin problem or any health issue. This is purely based on my instinct I guess or maybe because I do know some friends who actually cure their skin issue by feeding barf. But what I believe myself is that, before this she was good on barf and has no issue whatsoever but when she was fed with kibbles she developed an allergy. Not sure how to explain but its like deep down inside I was kinda blame it onto the kibbles while it might not be the cause but its like when you bring umbrella every day just in case it was raining but all u got was a hot weather but when you forgot to bring it one day what you got is standing under the roof waiting for the rain to stop. Not sure if you get what I mean thou xDD |

QUOTE(Doraemon11 @ Apr 3 2011, 03:32 PM) But as ppl said have to neuter before he learned marking, else once he learned even after neuter they will stil keep on marking oh This is what I heard as well QUOTE(JXplod @ Apr 3 2011, 04:39 PM) Below 6 months. It would be great to neuter the dog before they actually learned the 'unwanted behaviour' like marking for male dogs, or aggression for those breed that prone to have i.e. pitbull etc (not bias and I'm looking to have 1 pit but this is just an example |

QUOTE(Divas @ Apr 3 2011, 08:15 PM) At the moment he is only marking on spots where other dogs have marked. This is an early warning sign that his territorial instincts are kicking in and he could start marking at home some time soon. Neutering early before the unwanted behavior start to escalate might not help 100% to stop the aggression. It's just an early 'way' to help but of course w/o the cooperation of the owner itself, I'm sure the unwanted behavior will come back or kick in soon after the neutering. Unless the owner did a very good job in training its dog as well as commitment in leading it back to the right path when unwanted things happen and not just turn it onto the shelter (thou I believe ppl here will choose to let go their dog rather than turn it into SPCA or PAWS). and yeah I'm actually LOVE pit esp grey coat which is hard to find here @ Muchan86 - Good on you for standing up for the dogs with bad reputations, Pitbulls are fantastic dogs with a great loving personality if you train them well, good luck with your dreams of owning one. Desexing has very little effect on the type of aggression you are talking about. It can help reduce dog to dog aggression but rarely affects 'human aggression' which is purely the result of bad training/abuse or extremely bad breeding choices. No breed standards (as far as i am aware) list aggression as a desirable personality trait. Toy dogs are as prone to becoming crazy psychopaths as the larger ones, they simply get away with it more as they are less likely to snap your arm in half or be able to get their jaw around your neck (although as a groomer i have had many injuries from crazy spoiled toy dogs but never even a scratch from a larger breed, and yes i groom both). Yeowa, as what Divas said, Messi did marking at the park because he sense other dogs smell on the park so he tried to cover it with his own urine. So far he never mark on your house cause he only sense his own smell from your house. Believe me, when you try to bring in other dogs into your house, Messi will try to do marking as soon as he sense other dogs are coming into his territorial. I know cause there's time when I took care my friend's dog, they mark in my place as soon as they smell my girls -.-" |

QUOTE(gungho @ Apr 20 2011, 06:18 PM) Guys, I just got my new tea cup poodle yesterday. 10 weeks old. Had first injection only. Going for 2nd on may 1st. My opening advice : before getting ur 1st pup, you should already know "how often you should bath them" and puppy is developing new teeth so they tend to bite anything.I'm giving him the carnauba puppy breed food, I'm giving him 50 pallets, is that enough? 3 times a day, 9am, 5pm, 1am, 8 hours interval. Is this the best for his meal? He is keep biting things.. My hands, anything. Is it he not enough foods or his teeth itchy? The breeder asked me to bath him after a week after found new home. How often I need to bath him? And also he poo poo, do I need to clean his butt? I used tissue but somehow the poo poo dried on his hair I don't dare to clean.. Maybe I use wet tissues? Please advise, experts. This is my first dog, I wanna give him the best and make sure he very healthy. Any advise on supplements? Anything else? Accessories for him to play? Thanks!! Anyhoo, I'm not expert in poodle but I guess I can answer some of your questions. First, the food, I think someone got mentioned that Eukanuba dog food brand is not good for poodle? and I never count how many pellets should my dog eat as puppy need to eat more since they're still growing. Bite things = teething and its not because not enough food but the new teeth are growing and make the mouth itchy so they tend to find things to bite. Solution would be buy some toys for him to bite. I do clean my dogs butt after poo for hygienic issue and if the poo stuck at his butt you could use wet tissue or I suggest bath him if its too dirty. Also generally you can shower your dog once a week but it depends on individual I think. |

It will upset the puppy stomach and you will have more thing to do later on.Now only I know the breeder recommend me 1-star food.. Haiz!! Tomorrow I will go get him 6-star premium food !!! Anymore advise from poodle experts would be very much appreciated !! Please.. This is all I can do to help, the rest you gotta wait for poodles kaki to help |
