thanks for the advice mates, a friend recommended me to take Airasia to London since its alot cheaper, anybody else doing this? their baggage allowance is really insufficient and im afraid of delays and other things. and yeah Mabecs is good for me as im using them and their response is really fast and the director Ms Nimmi is very helpful

Do take note that Airasia lands on Stansted airport, if i am not wrong most meet and greet programs are only on either Heathrow or Gatwick or both. But if u r travelling to the university urself, depending on where it might be a good thing since public transportation at Stansted are good.
Trying applying for ISIC, International Student Identity Card, some flight carriers provide extra baggage allowance to students with ISIC.
website @ http://www.isic.org/home.aspx

another cheap alternative is Thai Airways, around RM1.6k with transit at Bangkok for 3 to 12hrs. Not sure about current rates.
If baggage is a problem, u can try emirates. more info on it by Balaclava at post #28 and #31.

ISIC is very broadly used. I even use it to enter bars and clubs.

cant blame vfs, the time i submit my application took only around 15mins ... but for my friend, he went with appointment few weeks ago and he waited for over 1hr ... the reason he said parents with their child at the counter were talking non-stop with the officer (i wasnt present so i suspect they r asking a bunch of questions), now i understand why vfs officers looks like 'dead fishes' ... btw the guards look 'pro' .. haha

I'm sure everyone is well aware of the appointment.
But the earliest date for appointment is sept.
So wasting the time maybe one of the option cause some uni are starting soon. To add on, it's peak period to apply cause most students like me get the CAS number only during last week.
Vfs isn't that screwed, tho it can have some extra workers to completely use up the counters they have . Lol

And yea, I'm one of the idiots who waited cause time is running out.

ok, now my turn to ask question:

Can anyone confirmed that Emirates is giving out 40kg to students? or only 30kg?
I couldn't find any official information from the Emirates site, and none that i knew has been with Emirates LATELY, so I wasn't that sure if this 40kg luggage allowance is applicable or not.

hey guys,

i have a question here. i understand that if a source of funding of my studies is not under my name (my parents) therefore i need a letter of consent and my birth cert to confirm the relationship and certify my funds.

However, my parents have a few FDs which are joint named with my aunt, so my question is , do i need another letter from my aunt to certify her consent as well? or is the one from my parents enough as the FDs are free for all, which means any one of them named in there could withdraw full amount. thx
*
You'll need a letter from the bank which confirms:

1. The holder of the FD account (your parent(s) and your aunt)
2. The amount in the account
3. That the account has been maintained for more than 28 days
4. That the deposit can be withdrawn anytime without any terms and condition attached.

In your case, it depends on whether your parent(s) can be the sole signatory to operate the relevant account. If your aunt's signature is required as well, then you'll need to get her declaration of financial support letter.

40kg if you buy return ticket (for students).
30 kg if you buy one-way.

their standard weight is 30kg.

Owh, I went to the Visa Centre, waited for 7 hours in the 4th floor, and didn't pass sad.gif The bank letter I got from OCBC is WRONG. it is really irritating cause I asked OCBC to give me, and they charge me, and I gotta wait a day *initially 3 days, but I hurried them* to get it...

Do anyone have a sample of the Bank Letter arh??

Help much appreciated. XD

I think you still need to. The bank letter is to prove that you have a certain amount of money in the account for the required period of time. The documents that you don't need are your parents' letter of consent and your birth cert.
