Hello guys, I am applying for Accounting and Finance degree and I wish to know what are the chances of getting work placement of one year during the sandwich year? As I know, it is quite difficult to get a job in UK, even with sandwich year. Please state ur university too, thank you.

Hey guys anyone knows how to apply for JPA scholarship or is the application closed already? yawn.gif I've gotten an offer from Manchester and just found out that it's one of the JPA approved universities.

Also, anyone knows if it's possible to firm the university in UCAS and choose not to attend it in the end? My current situation is that I'm facing funding problems though I'm eager to go to manchester. If I don't get any scholarships, I'll try the JPA overseas study loan which opens for application in July, but by then I should have firmed my ucas choice already. Ahhhh in such a great dilemma now yawn.gif

I got rejected by LSE for A&F, but my appeal went through due to extenuating circumstances at the time of application. Keeping my hopes up, otherwise I'll be heading to Warwick.

I believe only HSBC bank is possible with for this option, since it has branches in both UK and M'sia. If you have a HSBC bank account in Malaysia, I think you can approach them and inquire about the possibility of opening a UK bank account with their help.

You can do that, although it's not advisable to do so. There is no 100% guarantee that you can get your visa application approved. Let's say, *touch wood*, if your application is rejected, then you'll need to pay more to amend your flight ticket while processing your visa application.
But I think if you got all the documents required for the visa application, it usually ends well, it's just that I don't think there's 100% guarantee that your application can get through, so it's up to you to consider whether it's worth the risk.

That being said, I might consider taking the risk though if buying the air tickets early can, let's say, 30-50% cheaper tongue.gif

If you are buying a 2 way ticket, then you can go on holiday if visa rejected. If one way ticket, susah lah.

Normally, if offer is firmed up, not likely to get visa rejected.

LSE doesn't give a shit about your results after a minimum threshold, it's the personal statement that matters to them. That's why it's uncertain.

It's not. You can buy a single way ticket. Some airline company might be good enough to offer roughly half of what the round trip (go and return) costs. But some might charge you even more expensive than round trip costs.
Some airline companies offer 'open return' option. Which means you're buying the return ticket, but the exact date can decide later.
However, I'm not sure how long can the open return ticket valid, I mean, it's unlikely you can hold that ticket and decide the date as long as few years later.
Oh, and another thing, I think this kind of open return ticket can only get by buying through travel agent those agency.

Yeah I fell short because of my PS. Almost made it though, they said they rejected me on the very last day because they didn't have any places left. I had excellent grades, A* for maths and predicted triple A* for econs, further maths and physics. I do understand why my PS failed though, it was well-written but didn't fit what LSE was looking for. Regardless I'm having a shot at applying for LSE 2nd year entry this September and this time, my PS will be written specifically to cater for LSE requirements.

same fate :/. LSE is very particular in PS especially the curriculum part instead of co-curricular activities . What do you mean by applying for LSE 2nd year this Sept?? maybe i will follow your way to apply back if it is possible

It seems that one or two steps down from the standard offer grades in AS might suffice. Again, it's the PS that will make your application shine.

With so many people with multiple a and a*, the top UK unis need to have other ways of differentiating students ....the a level failed in this aspect....4% of students will have 3a*... That is why Oxbridge has long abandoned using the a level as entry criteria....they assume all applying will be straight a/a* and use other means to differentiate....

Hi there.smile.gif
I was told that a student credit card is necessary. Is that so ?
Can we just open a saving account and apply for a Visa Debit Card for money withdrawal wise?
Thanks smile.gif

That is the normal thing to do...open a savings account and it comes with a debit card, visa or master...
