i just plan decide want upgrade from hdd to ssd or not...but US price of ssd still expensive and haven drop like wat i expected...before that saw u all discuss that ocz bad, and now the sdd cheapest is OCZ only

which model? A1 or XA1? For G73 (XA1) only got 1 hdd bracket. The other hdd slot is empty. Not sure about G53.

Added on December 2, 2010, 1:23 amI upgrade myself. Bought the sdd here..... , cheaper. But you have to bear the risk while install it. But USD 419 is considered standard price even compare to Malaysia.

It is very hard to find the hdd bracket now even in US...there are someone "fabricate" the bracket himself and I just followed his tutorial. It is on the first page = 10. Guide to Disassembling Asus G53Jw and Install 2nd HDD.

materials used are simple, cardboard and double side tape. And the "home made" bracket is ONLY for ssd...

Of course. It is on your own risk. If you want secure, better find yourself a genuine hdd bracket from asus.

haha, using cardboard oso can , scared it move and hold not tight enough and effect the whole system bcause os inside ssd...

that's why only can use for ssd, cos ssd no moving part and the heat generated is much lesser than normal hdd.

yeah im thinking to upgrade myself the cards. but freaking afraid lol.

I put some span with thick double side tape as cushion underneath and on the ssd and make sure it is not moving. So far no problem at all.

Added on December 2, 2010, 1:45 amthis card got 3 antenna connectors but I think our asus g53/73 only got 2 antenna. Not really sure can or not.
