hm games i want are usually too expensive, and those I willing to pay, i rather get a box set. Its still nicer to have a box set (that's why i got mass effect 1 and 2. And also dragon age origins. Gonna get a ME3 collector edition probably xD)

I use steam for online gaming la.... cs:s tf2 liddat. Although i like indie games like altitude, floatilla
*
It depends, though.

If Steam offer cheaper price, i'll get from Steam. If not, retail any day.

Still wondering should i get Black Ops or not. hmm.gif

83C is a bit high, but i think i saw other G53, it's also about that temp.

Probably due to smaller size?

Make sure you find the disassemble guide before you change the thermal paste.

@qq how about the temperature of the palm rest there? can feel the heat coming through?
*
Should be cool, IMO.

Even mine is at ambience temperature after 3 hours of bombing in BC2, while the GC and CPU is about 70.

Just having a strange problem, NFS World has no GPU acceleration, which is weird to me. Then, Trackmania lags still on this com, while games like SC2 or BC2 runs smoothly.

will go for razer i guess.

I would recommend Logitech, though, as their mouse are much more comfortable.

The one i have, i think the sensor is slightly damaged due to years of usage. If not, it's awesome.

Im a bit out dated on mouse, as it has been a while i ddint go for mouse hunting. Cant really help you on this.

Personally, i prefer to go to shops and grab every single mouse i can find, and take the most comfortable one.

Yup, I think these range of temp is quite normal for g53, g73 should run a bit cooler. But I've to sacrifice this for the smaller size & benefit of portability.
I guess I won't apply the paste as it's quite difficult to disassemble g53 & if something goes wrong may void the warranty. But I will try out the color modification of the
backlit keyboard later. smile.gif
*
Just leave it and enjoy the laptop first, and keep monitoring in case the stock thermal paste has worn off.

I think repasting yourself is pretty much inevitable.

QUOTE(DoubleU @ Nov 7 2010, 08:04 AM)
hm, i read from BIOTech that repasting to IC diamond doesn't help maximum temperatures.... (their youtube review there)
*
Well, IC7 is durable, as it could give you good temps, provided you clean the heat sink regularly that will last you till you change your laptop.

Cheesenium, you are right about this. I think will live with this since it's not a big deal coz so far I didn't encounter any issues while running those latest games & applications.
*
Well, it's alright if it stays like this for next 4 years. As long as you dont shut down during gaming. I think it's ok.

Im just worried that my temps might go higher and higher as time pass by.

99AUD, i think.

It's expensive like hell, so i just get the D2D one.

QUOTE(DoubleU @ Nov 7 2010, 10:05 PM)
i'll be patient and wait till steam sale i think.. what do you think cheesnium? you've been in steam for a while right? will steam discount be the same/better than this?
*
Well, it's an Activision game. I doubt you see much offers on their games.

If you want, might as well get now.

RM138 for a CoD game isnt that bad.

but duno if should get this, or bad company 2, or MoH
*
I think each have pros and cons, but i havent played MoH.

Black Ops
- Similar gameplay as previous CoD
- Wager matches
- Has dedicated servers now
- Zombie mode
- Probably gonna have tens of thousands of people playing this.
- More arcadish and run and gun gameplay
- Less realistic
- Less epic to some extent
- Less team work required, as you can do pretty well on your own.
- No SEA dedicated server, means you have to connect to Aus server if you are back in Malaysia

BFBC2
- Great sounds too, and looks great on G73. FPS might dip a lot under a lot of smoke with HSAO.
- The gameplay is fun, as it has tanks and other vehicles. Makes it feels much more epic compared to CoD
- Rush mode, and classic conquest mode which is very different from what you have played
- Much more realistic gameplay like it has bullet drops for guns
- Destructible environments
- Very little maps. 8 per game mode, i think. A bit meh some times but the maps are very well designed.
- BC2 needs more team work. Great if you enjoy working in a team.
- Community is smaller than CoD, but still damn big.

MoH, i'll wait for Steam sales. BO + BFBC2 and TF2 is enough shooters for me.

I would say, another game worth considering is Team Fortress 2. Fun game. Funny most of the time. A lot of free content from Valve. Also have a huge community. Payload mode is probably the best game mode i ever played.

Yup, the machine currently don't have any problem while running game. Actually I did ask the vendor to inspect the machine thoroughly to avoid those out from box issues including physical damage, dead pixel , GSOD/BSOD etc.  I purchased a Cooler Master Notepal U2  notebook cooler with 2 adjustable fans to reduce some temp while in long run. I guess we got no choice to do the repaste after 2 years time to keep this machine alive  smile.gif
*
Lets hope it stays this way till it's time to change.

I think i might need to get a cooler too.

just observe the temp first, after 6 months/1 year usage, if the paste is really really bad, use re-paste it.
*
Some of the earlier model's paste was completely disintegrated after 3 months.

Resulting 80C even on idle.
