the 18-55 is normal kitlens (i dont think its normal if it has OSS, motor, and DMF... @.@) but still, i think there is no smooth feeling of 18-55 in the market as good as the SEL1855.... how i wish sony make a SAL one excately like that... LOL

oh i forgotten this point too! this is very important for group photo, but if lowlight using flash, the flash might have problem to cope with 5 fps... hahaha, i just 1 2 3 snap, then one more, 1 2 3 snap.... but then group photo is not high demanding like sport... there are time we anticipate, at the right moment, we burst, not because we wan to choose best from the 5 pic, but we wan the sequence of the moment!

i wish we have sepang in miri, then i can go panning LOL....

unfortunately, it happen to me 5 hours ago (not to me, to the seller)... my GF wife bising bising wan a compact camera, and fell in love with TX5.... so have to bring her to get one... but the first package(sealed), the ON button area, the 'plate' thingie is a bit loose @.@ so we ask for another one (scare not waterprood later >.<) but the new one (sealed), same thing, but i tell her its alright, maybe is the design flaw, but so far no ppl complain YET. but somehow, i paiseh make the seller unseal the first box and dunwan >.<

got tx5 to play with~~~ now i can shoot under the rain @.@

ohhhhh... so if the lens is long like ZA24 f2 then the distortion sure is minimum~ well, compromises~~

mmm funny noone answer u. well, its hard to say, i find nex 16mm and 18-55 very nice (my opinion),
the issue is, E mount (nex) lens cant be used on A mount if in the future, u upgrade to alpha DSLR (or DTLR)
but A mount lens can be used on E mount with adapter.

dont worry about investment Yet, get a NEX, with the kitlens, get some exposure on photography first, by the time u are familiar with it, u probably knows what which lens to get and why.
most of us here had own an alpha, hence we know what lens to look for when we get nex, but for starter, the kitlens is sufficient

this, i have no comment. Noone sees the future. unless some merger happens, like sony and nikon (example) they have to compromise something to have both lens work together or kill one. or last resort is tat, they still run independently, but money goes to the big party. (like compaq and HP) and again, noone is certain of the future.

manfrotto is just a more expensive name, u can get same thing from benro always with rm100 cheaper with same durability.

SAL50 F1.8 - rm499 (cheap 50mm. i think cheapest lens in sony len range)
SAL16-105 - rm1899 (great walkaround Day/Outdoor lens. lovely range and top sharpness)
SAL16-80Z - rm2799 (not the cheapest lens, but it is hell of great quality lens. but i would recommend it only if u have body above A450... where good iso make the picture even better)

prices are street price, u still can haggle to get cheaper thou.

few other option are,
Tamron 17-50 F2.8 around rm1.5k
sigma 18-50 F2.8
sigma 17-70 F2.8-F4/4.5

i would recommend u the tamron 17-50 for the F2.8 aperture, its a great deal for indoor low light uses.

eugenechiuu: why ur 8gb not enough? i doubt u can fill it before ur batter finish... or both battery finishes.

quality is one thing... i am talking about [b]practicality[b/]... with A200, most ppl limit themself to iso400 max, hence with F5.6 lens, u will max out at very slow shutter speed, hence u get more Blurred photo....

A200+16-80cz +lowlight = Quality blurred photo.

with F2.8, u gained a 2 stop, which is a lot in shutter speed sense. hence u get not only less blurred photo, u get nice bokeh out of it too~

i assume u wrote rm1.8k for 2nd hand? actually u can get a new one for rm1.8k at zaloon. the 2nd hand value for it should be under 1.6k depending on age and shutter (condition of it)

if u are not getting into pro soon, A550 is the way to go. perhaps another year pass u can upgrade to the A7xx?

slow? no such thing. the speed is dependent on ur alpha body motor, how can it be slow when u put other lens?
*most review are reviewed on CANON and NIKON version of TAMRON 17-50 with built in SLOW MOTOR. hence the review write like that. SONY version is base on Body Motor. its faster

i think the correct word to uses is longer, longer focus only apply for tele zoom lens, like 55-200 and 75-300 where it has longer focus gear.

i think nex has better feature then what entry dslr has... lol

i dont think they provide free bags for nex purchase... but there are leather casing available for it, very nice and fit nicely, but burns your pocket. u can grab any hostler bag for it (those semi pro camera bags in petaling street cost around 20-50)

the overheat issue on A33/55 can be avoided by turning off the SSS.
