HAHA . im scared of switching frm 2nd to 3rd gear at 3k , later can hear the engine roaring already, caltex oil is good, shell is sucks the louder = makan more minyak? i know shell sucks, at least its better than petronas, primax . i got the poorest mileage with petronas. lol hardly see caltex around my place |

mine is never below or over RM10 - 50km... if i isi RM30... at 150km alrdy need to refuel... if i isi RM50... 250km - 260km alrdy need to refuel... 100% city drive coz kuching hav no highway...
if on highway... RM50 reach 360km... (kuching to miri, around 13hr drive) btw my driving style is min 3k rpm... mostly 4k or 5k... hasty driver... driving slow wont guarantee ur extra mileage.. drive fast is not guarantee drain minyak... there's optimum speed for diff type of engine for optimum fuel consumption... QUOTE(aidlover @ Oct 20 2010, 01:28 AM) I got similar consumption as well. Auto. Roughly 9 - 10 km/l. Used to be 10+km/l, but consumption has gotten worse since the SC switch the engine oil from 5W/30 -> 15W/50 ... haihhhThe FC is all about reaching your cruising gear at cruising speed as soon as possible without accelerating too hard to get there and when ur there, maintaining there as long as possible. Did I make any sense? This post has been edited by +Newbie+: Oct 20 2010, 10:01 AM |

For me, Esso 95 share equal FC as Caltex 95, very good i have to say, now can reach 13-14km/L for everyday drive.
About gear shifting point, depends on condition actually. Normal driving (good mood, energetic and smooth traffic) 1st-4th gear change at 2.6k constantly, or ensure after change the RPM at least got 2k. Abnormal driving (bad mode, block by idiot and wanna overtook) 1st and 2nd gear rev til 7k, then skip 3rd and 4th straight into 5th gear. Actually change below 2k won't harm the engine as long as u are not big foot under low RPM condition, else ur engine will vibrate and fuel is wasted becos engine work at not optimum range. QUOTE(+Newbie+ @ Oct 20 2010, 11:10 AM) Maybe I should qualify what I said. I can't be 100% sure, yet. I'm only on my first refill. I plan to give it another 2 refills to get an average. As it is right now, the second refill looks on track to be 9+km/l. Right....I am guessing that ur ride is on ron95? Any difference on the rev? At best, my car seems to pick up good speed starting from 3k PRM onwards & mine is an auto. Urs?If that is true, means the 5W-30 oil gave my car better FC. Seeing as everything else has remained the same. Recently replaced brake pads & shoes with Bendix (Titanium) better bite but the screeching sound of metal-like is still obvious. Any solution apart from changing the rear drum to disc? |

QUOTE(JimboXE @ Oct 20 2010, 02:41 PM) Right....I am guessing that ur ride is on ron95? Any difference on the rev? At best, my car seems to pick up good speed starting from 3k PRM onwards & mine is an auto. Urs? I'm on ron95, Auto. And yes, the car picks up significantly after 3K RPM. My main problem is that the first 2 gears seem awkward. First gear drags on to 20KPH and the second gear 40KPH. The first gear runs out of juice by the time it hits 15KPH so I have to drag and push it past 20KPH to get it to shift. It's the same with the second gear. I do a majority of my cruising in housing roads, etc etc at that speed. A better cut off would have been 15KPH and 35 KPH. Now I just rev it harder from the get go and get it to 30 as swiftly as possible to make it a smoother ride.Recently replaced brake pads & shoes with Bendix (Titanium) better bite but the screeching sound of metal-like is still obvious. Any solution apart from changing the rear drum to disc? I know they probably did this to counter the low torque on the low end, but the car just feels like it's hanging on to the gear for dear life until I literally force it over the threshold. I also drive like a madman on highways quite often, btw. So that does affect my FC. |
