Samsung will lunch their 7" tablet call "Samsung Galaxy Tab" this September...hope it oso affortable... drool.gif

Yeah, i hope so...as im keeping my fingers crossed for CSL's tablet too.. what i'm looking for will be the tablets with built in 3G for portability on the road.

If Galaxy Tab's price is reasonable, and the unit has built in 3G...i might consider Samsung too..
P/S : I love the Amoled in Samsung. Currently im using Omnia II - the screen is awesome...amoled... drool.gif

Does it come with built in storage capacity ? 2GB ? 4 ? 8 ? As I can't find any info on the internal storage..

Where else...Samsung Galaxy Tab comes with 16 GB built in. Possibility with 3G built in too.

wow this is really not bad for a malaysia brand. 2.1(!!) most of the android tablets out there feature only 1.5 or 1.6. thumbs up csl. btw whats the price for this?

Still unknown.

For those who want to buy Android tablets, better wait till end of the year...as many brands will come out with their tablets..such as Notion Ink's Adam, LG, MSI, ASUS (likely early next year), Google, Lenovo's LePad, etc...

I think in CES fair 3-5 DECEMBER at KLCC...some of the tablets will be shown...

No hurry to buy..keep all fingers crossed.

A 600 Mhz chip powering a tablet - i have doubts on its performance. Anyway these Android tablets are a great alternative to the iPads. The iPad is expensive and lacks many basics - no USB, no front camera are its biggest defiencies. These Andoids will definately be cheaper - an interesting model will be Samsung Tab, releasing on 2 Sept. Apparently Malaysia will get it too in Sept .

Any idea on the pricing ?

Let's see the pricing between our local CSL vs Samsung. if its not too far off, I would go for Samsung..with its 16 GB built in storage, amoled and 3G ( i think its included ).

Will test out these 2 tablets before deciding..

CSL = price definately is lower than Samsung. Samsung's price i think is going to be higher due to the specs offered in their tablets.

Still unsure about CSL.

Just waiting for the tablet announcement...and test the unit out myself...first.

If it's running 600mhz, don't get too excited.
512mb ROM, means we have to invest in MicroSD card.

Even HTC Desire is having only 512MB ROM isn't it? MicroSD card is pretty compulsory if you wish to store music or videos.

It has built in 3G and GPS, which seems very nice but if it's RM1500, forget it. tongue.gif

No way CSL going to put their flagship model cost less than MI300.

I would say RM1200-RM1500 would be more realistic pricing

Yes, desire has 512MB rom only, but that's cause it's more of a phone than a tablet.

I guess HTC just felt not everyone needed that amount of space on a phone and let people choose how much they wish to spend on expandable disk space.

As for a tablet which is aimed at multimedia segment, maybe having some form of internal storage would be good.
Even many china models have 2GB built in with room for expansion. 2GB is good for people wishing to just use it to browse the net and install apps.

true...netbooks nowadays can go below rm1000...

what tablet users want is the portability, light and touch screen function without having to keep open and close the notebook..as the hinge might wear off sooner or later..

touch screen tablet is more durable and lighter to carry around.

I have a netbook but I will still use a tablet.
Why? Because I use it to read news, and when off power supply, my netbook can only last 3 hours of usage.

While a tablet will supposedly last longer.

Not to mention I can rotate the page to portrait mode for easier reading, as compared to landscape on a netbook.

Also, having a touch screen has it's advantages in places where I don't really have a table or that a table is too low. I can use it as a more viable input method over a trackpad, which can sometimes be rather frustrating.

My needs don't mirror every body's, but for me, I see a tablet as a complimentary to a full fledged notebook or even netbook that I don't have to crack open to use all the time.

an alternative..get a joojoo..install Windows or Android on it..laugh.gif

the hard disk for joojoo can be expanded since its an SSD but getting a SSD with the correct connector is difficult since the standard their using is still new..
