Get the E5 from garage sales lo..so many of them selling. Just bought mine from casey for RM80 E1-AKG selling too. All around that price la.

i've just tried them both out this afternoon. hippo 10 has slightly warmer mids and a larger soundstage. the deal breaker for me regarding the vb is that i keep accidentally adjusting the bass when i was putting them in.

Currently there are no BA iem from hippo, but I sure do hope they make one, just to give the SoundMagic PL50 a run for its money.

Well I can always go for the MS1i and the 10.
In comparison to the EB, the PL50 is actually a warmer sounding EB. Both have about the same amount of bass but the PL50 just sounds warmer.
To go thoroughly, the PL50's mids are more forward, the EB has more of that "sparkle" at the higher end, soundstage is better on the PL50, mid-bass on the PL50 is slightly upped.
I'm working off memory here so can't recall exactly.
IMO both are equally good. They only sound different so choosing one over the other is purely based off personal preferences and not SQ.

I have the PL50. It is indeed more or less that you've described. Prominent and detailed vocals.
