Nope I don't mind 2 doors - I actually have a BMW E38 728i that I am currently using as my daily driver. The issue is that I work in the city and I find that its a little too large for daily city driving. So I'm thinking of using the beemer as sort of a weekend/outstation/need to pick up people car whilst I get a daily driver that I can have a bit of fun with when I want to ie Scirocco 1.4 TSI or possibly the Golf GTI mrk 6.

My dilemma is that in view of the above - should I go the for the Scirocco 1.4 TSI or bite the bullet and for another Rm20k more go for the Golf GTI.

I have test driven the Rocco but they don't have a GTI to test drive as the SA told me that the GTI test car had been sold. I really like the looks of the Scirocco  but I'm intrigue to see what the performance difference is like compared to the GTI

I think you will enjoy your test drive smile.gif Make sure if that you have a chance, to floor it in sports mode:) Very poisoning:)

Added on October 19, 2010, 12:44 am

If this pulls through soon it will definitely make my decision alot more straight forward:) Fingers crossed
*
nice car bmw e38, but yes a little huge. you can test drive mk6 gti in jalan 222.

QUOTE(Yan @ Oct 19 2010, 03:23 PM)
tomorrow i'm doing the Sierra Glow at Summit with Mr. Chong. next i'm gonna get the brake caliper painted red  ... then getting bodykit for the TSI... looks to manja already .. need a bit more garang feel esp the front bumper and possibly getting it fitted with twin-pipes. Then a small fin like the Rocco. ECU would be last i think ... still quite happy with the power n balance of FC.
*
nice list there, are they gonna void warranty hmm.gif

polo might be small but since it's an european car the expensive feel is there, i've visited mitsubishi showroom next to VW at jalan 222 and sit inside the lancer, the lancer feels cheaper in terms of material. and when you close the door of polo it feels really solid like a tank.

Guys, Im here to learn english! How to pronounce "Scirocco"??
*

shiroko

many people pronounced it wrongly, siroko, schiroko doh.gif

note : that's not how the scirocco engine sounds like

look dummy... small rim, small car wif big headlamp...
rm113k otr for sure is not a good buy for me...

yeah la, always advertise nice rim but give small ones for sale doh.gif

QUOTE(Max1979 @ Oct 25 2010, 12:42 PM)
I think so Mike brows.gif I have to crunch the numbers now to see whether I can afford it shocking.gif

Also thinking of what colour I should get it in - I'm sort of torn between candy white and carbon steel grey

Added on October 25, 2010, 12:49 pm

You have a point bro - though I think remapping it to stage 1 will void the warranty unless there is an official tie up between VW and the tuners.

My dilemma was choosing between the Scirocco 1.4 TSI and the Golf GTI where there is RM20k difference.

I personally think that the Scirocco is much better looking car - that being said driving enjoyment is also very important to me and the Golf GTI looks pretty decent as well.
*
of course the roc better be better looking since it has two doors
i think in UK the price of roc is cheaper than golf, provided the same engine
here they charged extra rm30k throwing out two doors doh.gif

QUOTE(hanifw @ Oct 25 2010, 01:04 PM)
Wonder i should be buying Inspira for myself first or VW Polo for my wife first... Anyone can help me decide?

Thanks in advance~

is space important to you?

QUOTE(r3kahsttub @ Oct 25 2010, 06:08 PM)
damn near myr190k for a 1.4 2-door is a lot! maybe that's why i barely see them on the road. i think we'll see more 2.0TSI roccos on the road than we will 1.4s.

nice pics, indeed the roc are quite hard to find

I tested both the Golf and Scirocco 1.4.. I'd say Golf is more practical but Scirocco looks more sporty. Too bad the Scirocco is selling so expensive compared to the Golf.. in the end I opted for a BMW Z4 since performance and looks it beats the Scirocco.
*
weird that you opted old Z4 instead of these cars, these cars are more practical, if i'm considering a golf, a roadster will never be in my mind

QUOTE(futobuta @ Nov 1 2010, 09:47 PM)

camry and hilux indeed hotter on the theft list, but saw on vgm forums that some mk6 gti being stolen lately. not exactly on hot list, but not impossible

common is not exactly a negative remark, for me at least. actually shows how good a car is
the gti is better value for money if you appreciate performance

Should have just stuck to leather for a premium brand. I don't see any Audis or Beemers with fabric options, do you? The cost of changing to aftermarket leather seats is around RM2k+, if it's installed at the factory during assembly the cost is much lower.
*
mind you bmws and mercedes (3er/C class) in the UK has optional leather, and VW is less premium than those two

QUOTE(treason @ Nov 18 2010, 04:36 PM)
Just thought I'd share my Fiesta and Polo experience...

I test drove the Fiesta first.....It was nice, awesome specs on paper but to be honest the drive was nothing to shout about...fun and of course not underpowered in anyway...nice for an NA...has biggish rims and a pretty low stance..looks good...interior admittedly abit plasticky for me...the dots on the seats abit funky for my taste..haha..I liked it but in all honesty my mind was not blown...

Next I tried the Polo...I thought the interior while extremely simple was very classy and nice!!...I do wish it had at least USB input for the HU...features on paper really nothing to shout about..especially for rm110k! Rims were nothing like the ones we've been seeing on the Ads but acceptable to me.. But the drive, oh my gosh the drive...I loved every second of it...to me it felt like a continental car, (the fiesta felt in between a Jap and Conti I suppose) for some reason reminded me of a 320i. There is a HUGE difference in the acceleration compared to the fiesta..so so much more responsive and just pulls ahead...the DSG feels so much better to me too.....I had a grin on my face the whole time and it just felt right to me despite being so basic in features! ...I see everyone saying that the car is really small..it really isn't that badla..very comparable to my vios, except for a smaller boot of course...I sat both in the drivers seat and as a passenger...sufficient legroom..the fiesta was very acceptable (to me) as well....

At the end of the day, it is a B segment car and meant to be fun...if you really need the space and comfort there are much better choices out there..but if you are looking for something fun like me, you really have to give it a go.....
*
indeed, last week i test drove polo 1.2 tsi. as long as the car is out of the turbo lag zone(i think above 1700rpm or something) the acceleration is explosive and DSG is very fast. but no pedal shifters though, for quick getaway from the turbolag zone, you can't flip the downshift button like the golfs, changing to the manual mode is too troublesome so we can only do kickdown
highway cruising is very good for a small car, managed to hit 150kph although i'm not too sure of the speedometer accuracy, not to mention with 15" rims. NVH of golf mk6 is still better though
ride is definitely more comfy than my gti but hey performance car vs small car with 15" rims tongue.gif

Hmm what happened to that guy who asked about the polo chip module? is anyone else interested in it? This is regards to the polo 1.2 TSI.

VAGSG members have already got it. However they have not replied to my query yet on it. Thinking of getting it straight from the manufacturers in Holland.  Stage 1 bump. VAGSG member tested it on dyno and recorded 132 Ps. Stock on brochure rated in at 105 but it has been shown to produce up to 120 actual...

So this module actually functions more for power band and fuel efficiency with a little bump of about 12 Ps : ) whoever is interested please discuss here thx..

BTW this is plug and play so no warranty issues
*
how about torque?
is the bodykit included?

Hey guys, I've just completed my first 1k km. Should I change my engine oil before I start really revving my engine?
*
if you are not a hardcore driver i guess even 7500km is okay.. the manual recommends every 15k right
you could check the oil level yourself

around 1-1.5k you can rev a little bit more, after 1.5k you can go all the way

btw, the polo 1.2 is pretty fast ! last time i thought it could only match a civic 1.8, but even bmw 320i struggles to keep up
http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/show...r-than-Polo-1.2

even my mk5 struggle to keep on nkve in heavy ish traffic last time.

QUOTE(jwrx @ Dec 6 2010, 09:15 AM)
urrm..

it does 90% of what the 2.0 can do at 60k cheaper  smile.gif

just passed 2k mark, engine is still very tight, so the mileage is not what im expecting yet, now about 10l/100km which is slightly better then my mk5 gti

- its fast and zippy, and hitting 140kph on highways is not a problem, my normal cruising speed is 140ish, so i dont really push it more then that, im not a speed junkie on public roads
- with the 1.4, i find that you have to use the paddle shifts, and dropping down 2 gears b4 overtaking or changing gears is a must if you dont want to get bogged down, one reason is because 7th gear is REALLY high. With my previous mk5, i could be lazy and just use the accelerator to kick down, it had enough power for any situations. But with the 1.4, you have to pay more attention to which gear you are in and the rpm
- Under heavy braking, the Roc suffers from the same tail happy characteristics as the golf, it just wants to break loose as the rear feels unsettled
- The stock michelin's it comes with is pretty crap, i can wheel spin in 1st and 2nd gear coming out from junctions, going to have to install the stiffer lower arms later and change to better tires
- the only complaint i have so far is that the 7speed seems to get confused with jalan maarof hill....twice it has lost power while on the hill, had to pull handbrake...never had that problem with my Golf...the hill hold function doesnt work as well as my mk5 version

2% is more then i got...but we are now in december and all dealers are trying to clear thier 2010 stocks, so buying either this month or before march, would get you the best deals. March the 2011 models are coming in,...you can bet there will be no discount for the '11 models

I will be changing my oil at 5-6k km, then going in for the scheduled service at 15k. for all new owners of VW...make it a habit to check your oil levels at least once every 2 weeks...in the morning b4 u go work

Added on December 6, 2010, 9:22 am
like the posters in that thread mentioned...if they wanted power, they wouldnt have bought a 320, on paper even the 1.4 roc is only 0.2 sec slower then the 325
*
are you k3v on VGM?
indeed 7 gear is quite a lot and turbolag could occur more often. even with the mk5 gti a downshift is occasionally required.
the hill hold sometimes don't work with my mk5. using left foot braking sometimes doh.gif
is it michelin primacy LC tires? is it comfort tires? why are they using those instead of the CSC2/3? on a sports car summore
