and redline at 1.5k km as the manual mention

have heard about the factory run in as well

up to you i guess, i redlined and trashed my car till 240km/h first day i got my gti last year, mileage barely 100km, now 44k km still running good

whoops, it should thrash doh.gif
you in ipoh right?
any drive to kl should be nice.. but from afternoon till night traffic is busier.
12am-7am should be clear

or if you prefer twisty roads, try going up genting. power, handling, brakes all you can test.

so far the highest i've recorded is up to the paper top speed : 220km/h from kl to MLK on the 3lane stretch. the funniest bit was while i was doin 220km/h (kept on flashing the people in front of me from coming out) a singapore plate Prancing Horse 599GTB came from behind flashed me and overtook at a way faster speed, and disappeared into the horizon in a few seconds.

Just tried it out on a small stretch of highway. Was able to reach 180kph easily. But after that, no guts to push anymore... got some slow Kenari overtaking slowly on the right lane somemore.

it's pretty composed at the speed right? where was it?

the same highway i hit my vmax, the time was 550am, from bkt jelutong till slightly after bkt subg

wonder how much will be jetta be when it's introduced as ckd by drb hicom and vw. the 2.0 engine with 115bhp in US seems like a big let down. even civic, altis, mazda 3, lancer has better power output than that...
if it's equipped with the 1.4 engine same as golf would be good.

in usa bigger engines sell better

i thought detroits are 18" only? detroits 19" i only see them on the internet (mk5 golf 6.0 W12 engine doh.gif )

went for servicing for my mk5, 45k km. Noticed a yellow polo in the showroom
saw detroits 18" for sale at RM27xx
denver 17" RM21xx (despite seeing them got offloaded at cheap price by gti owners)

and saw one of the workers reversing a new passat cc hitting a new toureg
i thought passat cc has reverse camera?

my mk5 is 10L/100km city and 8L/100km at moderate highway speed(110kph). normally 160-180kph is 10L/100km
mk6 is claimed to be slightly better

if there's a higher end golf tsi with leather with 17/18 rims, elec seats and rcd510 like you said it will be winner.
could it be rm165-170k in price?

and i do hope the gti comes with 18", dual elec seats and rcd/rns510 and auto parking+reverse camera then it will be nicee

QUOTE(Miss @ Dec 29 2010, 03:57 PM)
Hey, gentleman

Today i've been to VW outlet to experienced myself the polo and golf (not test drive). I've to admit and conclude both cars are impressed me. And i just a lady without so much knowledges regarding the performances aspect and ability. The polo 1.2 is its buyable from the price offered. The 1.2 cc is seem quite average or something i missed out? hey, i dont know what horse power or turbo ur guys mastering adready. I just a normal car driver but do deep crush on POLO and GOLF.

Which one u guys suggest? POLO or GOLF..seriously not GTI out of my budget.

And i heard that VW is going to launch the new POLO GTI sooner, so what is the different between POLO alone with POLO GTI...?

Any forummer willing clear my doubt smile.gif  Thanks
*
hi Miss(hope you are really a female tongue.gif )
i can clear you out on the 1.2cc thingy. the 1.2 engine for the polo is turbocharged(turbo for short).
means if has the performance of a 2.0cc (2000cc actually) car but you only need to pay the road tax for 1.2cc and you get the fuel economy of a 1.2 cc.

difference between Polo and Polo GTI on the other hand is more of performance, Polo GTI of course has a more powerful engine
(the current Polo is powerful enough for you i believe), and probably has more features too as the current Polo is somewhat bare in specs.

as for Golf 1.4 vs Polo 1.2, Golf is bigger, more spacious, more powerful and is higher specced, so it's up to your budget

QUOTE(eugene jk @ Dec 30 2010, 11:37 PM)
Polo's 1200cc turbo equivalent to 2000cc is being overrated...
I would say horsepower wise, polo's 1.2 (105PS) is on par toyota vios 1.5 (109PS)
Torque wise polo 1.2 equivalent to honda civic 1.8 (polo's torque is even better than civic because polo can reach max torque 175Nm @ 1550-4100rpm while civic max torque 174Nm only @ 4300rpm.. early torque translate to better pickup and some how translate to better fuel efficiency as well).

*paiseh.. i m just a good broucher reader  doh.gif

The 7 speed DSG is also another big highlight of VW vehicle.. the dual-cluth allow seamless gear change and you wont feel (or minimal) gear shift jerk in between gear change.. fast gear shifting reduce torque loss during gear change.. more gears allows your car to choose the more appropriate gear ratio at different speed and different driving situation.. overall better fuel efficiency because you have more gear ratio for different driving condition, lesser torque loss during gear change, and better acceleration bcos of seamless gear shift and lower torque loss..

So Miss, now you see the wonder of the polo, small but powerful, fast pickup, great fuel efficiency (award winning car), and the pride of owning a VW.. we havent even start talking about the good handling of the German car.. that will be another long story..

Golf gives even more  laugh.gif

p/s: wat else, paying "proton savvy road tax" for a high performance car..
*
you can read brochures all day but in the end driving experience matters..

QUOTE(Alcip @ Jan 1 2011, 01:28 PM)
Polo 1.2 is overrated.
If you want to experience power in a Polo, you can try Polo GTI....1.8T is real good,to make it better, you can always chip it.Then you'll get around 180-200bhp,depend on which chip you're getting.
The 1.2T is as good as 1.6 NA,IMHO...
Thanks
*
have you test drove the Polo 1.2tsi before?
plus it's not even meant to be a performance car, so with a torquey and fast gearbox, that's more than good enough
the new polo GTI is 1.4 twincharged, the old polo gti is 1.8T, manual only here.

QUOTE(shift2 @ Jan 1 2011, 02:12 PM)

QUOTE(Miss @ Dec 30 2010, 03:43 PM)
Hey, thanks phas3r for your details sharing, it's definite clearer now especially the 1.2cc equivalent to 2.0cc thingy. At first i'am still doubt regarding the performance ( i mainly thought it's 1.2 cc car). Last time i visited the
VW outlet, the sales represent did entertained and provided vast information but its only myself hardly pay attantion as i keep scrutinized all the angle of the cars model , haha.. loves 1st sight  tongue.gif . He did talked all the
performance thingy, torque, rpm, 7 gear box but myself really blurred and no point to discussed futher as i dont know what he saying though. haha, i just a regular driver who doesn't emphazise so much about performance (especially some ladies right) as we not going to fully utilized and speed fast in city either , be a responsible citizen tongue.gif )

The point is that as long as not paying 100k buck for 1.2cc will do, ya it's sound more convincing for me to deposits now. I bet u so right as the polo really do bare in classy specs. Before that, i opt for either the honda Jazz or yaris toyota, as i comfort with the small and light vehicle do suit ladies handle. But after had seen european cars made me fed up with those jap cars (no offence to others yay). The VW polo and golf classy and elegance interior designed with solid built perfect in every sense as compared to jazz (Sigh sad.gif )

Ya, i believed test drive is the best ways to figure out which model suit me better, will do try allocate time for re-visit again. By the ways, what the 7 gearbox again? pack myself more infos before 2nd time revisit the outlet, haha

ya, i'm pure female, no method to proven my identity, sad tongue.gif
*
in terms of space, jazz might win, but everything else, will make the jazz seems overpriced
VW Polo/Golf is german, has good safety, more image, very solid and its resale value is going to pretty good soon too, of course that one Jap cars still have the edge

hi guys, after test drive the polo, i love the power and the car. but the problem is, this car is kinda small, lack of accessories and no arm rest is really a downer.. im driving 13 years old honda city and plan to change a car. so here are my 4 choices, City, Civic, Mazda 3 or Polo.

for polo users, please do let me know what is your experience ? are there any problem? any wind sound when running above 140km? cos for me, the problem with polo is lack of accessories and im afraid about the maintenance. what is the maintenance like compare to honda or mazda? besides those that i stated, is there anything i should know for VW like where can i source for polo accessories like arm rest, LED headlamp etc?

thanks for sharing

i've tested the polo until 150km/h. not much problem, although not as quiet as golf. more important is what car you are used too
