What to do.....    Anyway already bought ticket back home.  wouldn't dare abuse my DSG so early with not a single VW S.C in my kampung State.
*
so early scared of DSG prob ah? my DSG starting to show some jerkiness now. but mine is the old 6 speed

QUOTE(musclemass @ Sep 5 2010, 02:17 PM)
a quick question, is polo is the same category as mini cooper?
*
golf is the same mini cooper category

test drove the Golf 1.4 and Golf gti mk6 today. the golf 1.4 seems to have a bit lag at very low rpm, after that the superb torque brings it to higher speed with ease. no leather, but with water resistant fabric. no electric seats too.
the gti, well it was fast drool.gif

it was short so can't conclude much

QUOTE(MOSSAD @ Sep 5 2010, 10:46 PM)
jerkiness is normal because the gears are made to be abused agressively so if u drive it like a baby it will jerk... the 7th speed dsg wont give you such a powerful kick like the old 6speed... that's why mass market they use 7, more powerful ones they still use the 6
*
in traffic jam you have no choice la. that's why jerking here and there. but it's still better than say alfa romeo's selespeed.and sometimes if you are at 5km/h, the DSG decided that it's ok to use 2nd gear. but in the end your car can barely move because of turbo lag. must at least 1800rpm to get the torque
p/s: sup dupe

QUOTE(Travies @ Sep 5 2010, 11:56 PM)
so now, which 1 to choose, 2nd GTI gold or this new 1.4 golf?
*
mk5 gti is higher spec-ed than the 1.4 golf. mk5 gti has leather seat(well some of them does), 17 or 18 inch rims, electric driver seats etc. price range 140-170k
and it's still faster although the 1.4 is pretty fast as well
but the 1.4 golf has a MFD(multi function display i think) to control the settings of the car, can be accessed via steering wheel

if you're used to e36 and alfa 146, you'll this golf is refined. hehe

QUOTE(sonyman @ Sep 7 2010, 10:19 PM)
wah azxel, you tested the fiesta. the golf, both are double clutches. So what exactly are you looking at. The golf is a totally different level here and Polo and fiesta probably not side by side either. Cheapest is fiesta. then polo and then golf. this is also what i had in mind. but by stages. Fiesta first, get poison with double clutches. Then from polo 77kw 7 speed dsg to a whopping 1.4 golf 118kw. and ultimately the 155kw golf GTI. but by then im too old for a fast car like Golf GTI. Afraid that might end up in a passat or a peugeot 508
*
how old are you? golf gti owners are not young because by the time they can afford it they are usually at least 30. golfR with 260hp should be the ultimate. no idea bout kW units

well you have good taste in cars. keep it up. yes it's better to test drive the polo as well later

QUOTE(newmaster @ Sep 8 2010, 02:50 PM)
thank you for the motortrader link. really useful. seems the supercharger do the work in the lower revs, the turbo do the work in the higher revs
and the cruising rpm at 7th gear is really low.
that red(tornado red is it?) seems neat. better than the other red

climacool - seems you really want for TT huh? haha. you got mk5 huh?

QUOTE(sonyman @ Sep 9 2010, 02:17 PM)
im about 30 now. if i buy one fiesta. loan 5 years i be 36. Then i change to polo and loan again 5 years or less. i be 38... By the time i get a grab of the golf. i be 40... hahaha... but i was thinking of skipping the fiesta and go for the polo straight. Cause i feel the golf is a bit too expensive for its size. But then again 90% of the time i drive alone what the heck i want a big car for. no one sits at the back. Thats is why now i feel my 9 year old waja is a little too big. Sluggish, and fuel consuming.

So i was looking at fiesta seriously before it got launch. Then i went to go molest it the other day. finding the buttons plastic are not much better than any other japanese car. I regret to say this that the vios fit and finish is very much better than the fiesta. Although vios is just a transport that brings you to point a and b in a cheap way. Only suitable for people who couldn't care less and no passion about owning a car... don't mind me... its the way i think... honda is too expensive in every way. And Mazda is not very much better. So its down to keeping my old waja and get it repaired and use it for another good 5 to 6 years then i go all the way to VW dream land. But by then i be 5 to 6 years unhappy and missing the fun in my coming to midlife years.
i agree on that bro thumbup.gif

Mine got fr RHB 3.1% le ..    any other freebies they throw in ?

anybody interested in my new 1.4TSI 16" rims + 4 tyres ?

yeah what tyres and rims are you getting? too bad VW didn't offer this 17" rims. cost cutting apparently. these 17" is better than the 16"

QUOTE(Mavik @ Sep 14 2010, 01:45 AM)
LOL, i have the same idea as well! Was thinking of getting those Mk6 GTI fellas rims when they trade up. Really like the 17" GTI rims!
*
17" GTI rims(denver) is nice, but the 18" detroits on MK5 GTI SE is even better. the color is slightly different. inside of it is black and the rims are gun metal color

QUOTE(Yan @ Sep 14 2010, 09:57 AM)
wow, very stylish ..  do u know how much it costs ?
btw.. goin 18" wun cause the car to b lesser power meh ? i dare not go 18 since the GTI also 18... and GTI is 200hp... so thot of just upgrading to 17".. afraid will makan too much of the 160hp and increase FC
*
any car also will become slower (power will still stay the same) if you upgrade to bigger rims. but i think still acceptable. this 1.4TSI is not even the slowest engine in golf range

finally, i m back to bolehland... went to the showunit near penchala... only manage to test drive the Golf 1.4 TSI along Penchala link and den U-turn..

got confused with the wiper and signal indicator, terbalik with japanese cars  doh.gif

I used to just cruising with my own car, but the sales gal ask me just tekan aje with the Golf.. tongue.gif

impressive pickup even before 2000 rpm, reach 100km/h in no time... cabin is quiet... nice handling

I would prefer it comes with leather seats, more classy and luxury..

overall... very good car...  thumbup.gif

17" is a good compromise between $$$/comfort if they offer that with stock but unfortunately they don't do that with the 1.4, so it's going to be a private deal unless you want to pay $$$$$ for the new OEM 17" detriots from vw, i'm sure there are some gti owners who are looking at selling their denvers/detriots if you look around  rolleyes.gif

17=denver 18=detroits right?

this DSG is different though from the MK5 GTI
this one is with a dry clutch and has 7 gears
should be easier to maintain
only time will tell

i guess they should be promoting less about its 1.4 L.
some many already saying why need to pay so much for 1.4L car?
they should made some headlines like "cheap roadtax but great power"

not too much about the rims. even the mk6 gti are on 17".
VW owners club? i'll consider that. but mostly are talking about the golf now tongue.gif
i guess it will be nice if they introduce a higher end version with 17", leather seats and electric seats.. around 160k.

btw, i think the lifespan of Mk6 won't be long, that is Mk7 will probably be introduced in 2012 or 13.

in VAGSG forums, there's some worry about the mechatronics of the DSG.

QUOTE(gstoh @ Sep 22 2010, 09:01 PM)
can you elaborate more on roof sound insulation while raining?
i know the roof sound insulation in honda(any model from year 2005 onwards) is really bad.. like milo tin sounds.
for eg: the honda city preview gen , the roof sound insulation is really bad. it giv me the feeling there is no sound absorber in the roof(perhaps cut cost from where normal consumer cant see easily). The roof sound insulation is worse than Honda civic in year 1997.

so how bad is the sound insulation for golf?
*
not sure about the roof, but sound insulation overall for MK6 golf are superb from reviews i've watched and read. better than mk5. go test drive the car you'll know how quiet the car is. not to mention the low rpms at cruising speeds.

QUOTE(Yan @ Sep 22 2010, 10:46 PM)
haha... think probably hav to wait for the polo to be launched then probably the polo ppl will grab my 16" rims..hehe...
Shop taking in ard rm1500-1800 depending ..
*
yeah, for now other than Mk5 1.6fsi users there's nobody seems to be looking on 16" VW rims

thanks for the info Mike... from that I gathered that Malaysia is so backwards that we don't have any cars with built-in GPS yet.
the question would be... does it even work? hmm.gif

just wondering why a lot of cars that have built-in GPS overseas, when they're brought here.. it's all stripped out unsure.gif

i think most of new bimmers and mercs here already has GPS, bmw with their i-drive and merc with their thingy, not sure what it's called
my stock mk5 radio already out, interested in the 510 and 310 but darn expensive rclxub.gif

The rims already polished to silver and inside coated with black paint. smile.gif

Mine was via a fren .. he sold off his brand new denver 17" and upgraded to bbs 19". But b4 that he thought of just polishing it and spray inner layer black.. mana went there n got poisoned to 19" (on his GTI). so i was lucky to grab his brand new treated rims & tyres at a bargain price ..hehe smile.gif

heard the spray and grinding/polishing will cost like rm600-700 depending on shops. I previously did my OZ ultraleggera from silver to gun metal also rm600 .. rm150 per piece...
*
YR Auto Kepong can polish and spray for rm300-400 only if im not mistaken, can willing to loan out rims while they do the job
