Have you done APR before then?
Any comments about them? I'm gonna get a trial from them soon.

yes, my GTI was S2 APR, 265bhp, 300+Nm

Its not the most powerful map in the market, but i trust them as they are the only tuner in Msia which hasnt changed hands in the last 5-8 years. Karl, the principle of APR has been doing VW/Audi Tuning for many many years, he himself owned a MK5 GTI and now a MK6 GTI. He knows VAG cars inside out

Hi will like to remap as well. But my Golf TSi still has 4years 11 months warranty, LOL. I heard the APR remap can be changed back to stock via the cruise control. Is this true and it cannot be detected by the SC?
*
Want to mod, dun be afraid. If afraid, dun Mod

ok...i copy & paste some stuff i wrote for the roc owners forum

If you are going to mod...forget about your warranty. Any remap or suspension mod will void your GB/drivetrain/engine warranty, if a shop tells you "ours wont void" they are BSing you.

So dont be a wuss, if u mod, stop worrying about your warranty, its kaput ok?

ok..now that i have gotten that outta the way, i must also say that warranty claims is very dealer dependant as well as your relationship with the service manager. I personally know of APR S2 cars getting full DSG gearbox replacement under warranty, no questions asked, I also heard of Stock cars refused warranty just becasue of exhaust tip changes, so it really depends

There are many commonly available remaps for VW's in Msia, theres no "best" map, modders have to choose among several factors which remap suits thier needs best.

Im going to discuss more on APR as im a APR user and hardcore fan , my previous MK5 GTI was on APR S2, dynoed at 305NM and about 250bhp on wheel

The Most common remaps are
- APR
- REVO
- ABT
- MTM
-GIAC (I think this brand has mampus already, not sure)

All have thier pro's and cons, users have to see which of the following factors they rate most important
- Power
- Reliability
- After Sales support
- Price
- Location
- Remap options (example, changing boost parameters, updatability, reflashing costs etc)

Price wise they are more or less the same, im not that up todate for every brand, so feel free to post up the latest prices.

APR Stage 1 is RM3980, doesnt matter what VW u drive, 1.4/2.0 golf/roc/passat etc all same price

Website is www.goapr.com

I thought its supposed to be saving less petrol  blink.gif

So bro have u done your S1? share some info or a quick review..  brows.gif

Not yet, not in a hurry for S1, i find the TSI power adequate for now. I plan to do all the non-warranty voiding cosmetic stuff first...THEN put in the stuff like S1, BBK etc

So will do rims, R kit, RCD510 etc first...dun plan to S1 till at least pass my 1st official service

VW never did say that the 7-speed DSG can handle maximum of 250N-m of toque - what they actually claimed was that the 7-speed would be used with engines with a max torque of 250N-m. I've trawled forums on this myself and so far those that remap to S1 have not encountered significant issues with the DSG. I could be wrong though.
*
its not rated for max 250Nm, it was electronically controlled to provide max 250Nm, took a while for the remappers to break the ECU coding. No manufacturer will ever fit a GB with such a small margin of error...eg max torque is 250, stock car can put out 200

Don't have to take that figure too seriously lah. Enjoy your ride.... just tekan only lah. Don't think about the consumption so much. If u want an economical car.... should have taken a kancil instead.
*
btw which consumption figures are u looking at? you should be looking at "2" which gives lifetime consumption...much better as a measure of FC

Guys, if to choose between golf GTI and Scirocco 1.4, which one will you go for?
*
I took the 1.4 Roc, the GTI is too common smile.gif You save about 20k, which can be used to really nicely mod up the Roc. Rims, Kit, RCD510 still got leftover for exhaust

Holiiieee shitznit ryou, ooouuuwwwhhh sooooo nice!

Some question : let's say for example I bought a VW from Wearnes, I hafta send my car only to Wearnes service centre, or can I send it to any other service centre, because I read it somewhere in this thread, if u mod your car at Exotic Mods, u can send it to another service centre, tell the service guys that your car was modded there and the service centre will be okay with it?
*
exotic isnt a authorised VW service centre though...technically it doesnt matter where u bought your VW from, you can service at any authorised VW SC, but its esier for warranty claims etc if u continue going to the same SC that you bought it from, just make sure they chop and sign your service booklet

u need the VW msia/sg map disc, which i have but it cost me rm2k when i got it 2 years ago. i dont recommend the RNS because

- the maps are very outdated (late 2007)
- majority of RNS come from very dodgy sources
- the navi software is ancient and not very intuitive
- too many diffrent firmware versions, which affects GPS accuracy, unless its firmware 26xx, other versions can be as much as 500m off
-unlike the RCD510 which 99% of the time is p&p, u will have to code the RNS for sure..thers better things to buy for your car then the RNS
- i had my RNS for about 6 months, then decided i didnt need it...sold it and got a RCD instead

Apparently there are some updates to the RNS510 unit, manufactured after Nov 2010.

"This new generation of RNS-510 navigation unit features updates that enhance speed, LED monitor, reduce glitches found in older firmware versions and allow for advanced features such as support for 32GB HDSD cards, voice features with optional BT kit, and more."

More info here:
http://www.mfd3.com/store/complete-kits/oe...gation-package/

From what I read, its essentially a RCD510 with Navi, although the Navi may not be perfect, its still cleaner than a dash mount Garmin which is prone to theft.
*
there have been many updates and firmware updates for the RNS, the issue is that you can never know what version you are getting until u open the parcel. Also, the RNS hardrive is susceptible to damage during the long journey to msia (most units come from europe). firmware updates doesnt matter to the RCD..cos its essentially just a CDplayer, but it affects the navi function for RNS

Anyway...ppl who belum cuba, belum tau, so will always want "the best' for thier car, based on internet research. im just speaking from xp, and the fact that i have brought in quite a few RNS, my 2 sen is to get a RCD and a garmin OR find someone with a actual RNS and play around with it to see if its what u really need/want

if u must have a GPS integrated HU, then u can look at the kenwood DNX which will fit VW cars

there is only 1 rear fog, the other side should be the reverse lamp.

the moisture should clear up within a week or so, just leave it parked under the sun
