got few duplicate numbers on different players, but i have pippo PI 1997, decided to put salas instead.

this year i manage to complete my divine striker collection as well, only old folks might recognized him, to me he is my 2nd best striker of all time after pippo.

Enrico Chiesa, all PI also, one signed(lazio) and one preseason worn(siena). this is a patient work also and require luck on bid value. now look for his ASC Figline club shirt left(if ever got lucky).

Jerseyman's Review: ADIDAS STAR WARS GOOD FOOTBALL JERSEY (XL)



"The force is with you young skywalker................ but you are not a jedi yet"

One of the famous catch phrases from Star Wars Trilogy ( was in Episode 5 - The Empire Strikes Back). Being a fan of Star Wars myself and also football jerseys, this jersey is a must for me. I decided to buy one.

Bought it on 24th September 2010. The item was posted 29th September and was shipped from Hong Kong on the 2nd October... It arrived Malaysia on the 6th October and was shipped out to my house on the 7th October. So here's the parcel:


I really like the presentation of this shirt. I remembered how customized plastic bags used to be the thing in the past.. Those who've seen AC Milan's Lotto jerseys that comes in it's plastic bags knows that the plastic bag is customized by lotto to include the AC Milan club crest and name as well on the plastic bag. So to see the plastic bag customized as well gives the extra touch. Thumbs up to adidas on this.



Most of us know that Home of Badges has a $5 discount code if you look at their website (look at the website's 'home'). I used this code (10WorldCup) and it expires on the 31st October 2010. At the website, they say "New Code will be given with your order, what will be the next code?".. So the next upcoming code is 1011fall (no need to be a secret lah. I am a kind hearted person.. so don't forget to belanja me teh tarik hihi..) :


Anyway here's a front and back view of the jersey:


I really like the pattern of this jersey. The pattern is identical to Germany's Away Italia 90 jersey and Holland's Home Euro 88 Jersey.. Pity that the shirt doesn't have the typical adidas identity of the 3 stripes running down the shoulders.

Inside the jersey, there is a protective layer that surrounds the embroidery of the adidas trefoil logo & STAR WARS logo (I guess to prevent irritation and itchiness from the embroidery):



Pity that only the adidas trefoil embroidery has the protective layer... they could put it beneath the 'club crest' as well though hihi..

Near the V shaped collars, is written with 'MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU'... yeah:



One thing I like about this jersey besides it's plastic bag, is the price tag. Splendid old skool + new skool (the glittering looks like the stars) on the price tag. And also the price tag is not plastic tied to the jersey like the usual new jerseys, but it is tied (like umbro's england jersey). One good thing (besides that it's old skool looks) is that you can remove the price tag and then tie it back again easily (for showcase purposes):

Yes.. I know you will ask.. why did I buy XL.

1. There was no XXL size sold at homeofbadges. I know XXL is sold elsewhere such as at subside sports (once, but now out of stock) and adidas original USA.
2. I can wear XL but I prefer XXL for super comfyness..
3. For adidas originals.. you need to be old skool.. so better wear XL for old skool awesomeness

But for the EVIL jersey, got XXL.. hmmmmm...

Anyway inside the price tag:



How about the inner tags (washing tags)?

OK.. how about the material?



As you can see above, the material is a shiny old skool styled one. Not the sofy comfy stretchy material like the nike jerseys. OK nike jerseys are quite brilliant in terms of how it is constructed (very comfy to wear, stretchy) while the design sometimes... we have to be frank, sucks. Sometimes though, not all the time.

Adidas meanwhile.. beats a lot in terms of design. You can see for their world cup and club kits this year. But for this jersey, was not expecting too much in terms of material wise, because of it's old skool design.. But it could have been better.. nevermind.. just my honest opinion...

Next.. how about the cutting?

To do a comparison, I used my Manchester United 1992-1994 adidas home kit to be fair:



If place on top of each other.. basically there are slight differences:



In terms of length, the Star Wars jersey is much longer:

In terms of arm pit width, both are almost equal. Also the Star Wars jersey has a bigger sleeves:

By the way, armpit to armpit for this XL size jersey is 24.5 inches (or 49 inches chest measurement):


Collar width.. not so much difference:



So how does it look like when jerseyman wears it:


Oh yeah.. the force is strong with this one...

Nice eh? Similar to Luke's and Obi Wan's blue light saber:



But to be honest, Luke used 2 coloured light sabers. During episode 4 and 5, his light saber was blue. Right until his father (Vader) cut off his hands..

The next episode (Return of the Jedi), Luke used a green light saber:



So maybe they should come out with a green coloured version as well? Hehehe..

Very unique idea
The nice design
Skywalker uses my favourite number 7

b. What Jerseyman Dislikes:
No 3 stripes running from the neck to sleeves like usual
The material is not as comfy as the modern jerseys
Very hard to find XXL lah!
