haha chikorita85, just remember there is no club sentiment / player sentiment here when it comes to collecting. So ya as pyro puts it, its the seller's own description of the shirt, and nothing wrong as long as it is not exagerating or false (like claiming its worn by mcmanaman etc).

anyway OT then, McManaman is one of the best Liverpool players (let alone wingers) of all time, and that says alot (he was voted No. 22 on the list of 100 payers who shook the kop). And those who were privileged to see him in full flight together with the other spice boys would agree that together with Giggs, he was one of the best in the PL at that time. Also he commands a certain degree of respect from fellow professionals here as a modest hardworking player.

As for pedigree, he did win FA cup and League Cup with Liverpool, and he went on to win the European Cup twice with Real Madrid in 2000 and 2002 and two la liga titles too. A quality player no doubt and among Liverpool fans he is viewed very very highly.

So i think he (and alot of other players) deserve due credit etc. There is anyway no "means" to measure how great a player is. Every one is entitled to their opinion.

likely. There is no official repro, so those on HK or other suppliers are all DIY. i was informed the sizing of the carlsberg chinese word would be slightly off too.

teckhooi, i am quite sure it is DIY. like i said no official repro. if not diy, it is match issued / worn. so buy at own risk. I have personally seen one HK diy one which is very small compared to what we see during the one match it was worn.

even curator has not got his yet, cant wait to see him display it once he gets it (im quite sure he will..or maybe he already has....)

Like i said, believe or not, there is no official reproduction of this for commercial sale. The HK sellers are DIY-ing the logos / sponsors for sale everywhere, on ebay and their own respective websties etc, for approximately USD9.00 -USD 20.00 i've seen per piece. Irregardless of the size etc, these are all DIYs. The shirts they are printed on may or may not be originals, rhat you have to do the normal verifications etc looking at the tags etc.

The thread u posted, the seller already half-admitted the jerseys are authentic but not the sponsor, and he is doing this for liverpool fans wanting to just own the shirt for own use. I believe frm the feed back the shirt itself is authentic. Its only the logo. This is a grey area just like old EPL nns - since no "official" nns were produced for sale, what the fans can buy are only unlicensed remakes done by alot of others.

So this chinese carlsberg not officially released, whatever you get would be a DIY logo add on to a sponsorless shirt, I have not seen one, but i believe you can just do a simple check on the tags which will describe the shirt as a sponsorless liverpool home perhaps.

So if getting one for self use, go ahead, but unlikely it will fetch any good price or is worth anything more than that lo. just my 2 cents.

no "best way" mate. Just have to wash them gently with hand (don dry spin for old nns) and make sure its not crumbled during washing process. Then after dried, iron the nns from the back of the shirt, then also from the top (using a layer or 2 of cloth in between). The "darkness" ie loss of gloss is normal wear tear so nothing can do about it.

As with other JCs, sentiment is that jerseys and NNs are not designed to "last" too long. They are just for a match to match basis, so its not as durable as most other clothing apparel. Especially PI kits, designed to make it light etc so the materials used like the PU stripes etc are not really durable. So just be careful and take extra efforst to hand wash and iron the kits frequently smile.gif

yup. its becos of the sharing of information here etc that ppl are more aware of PI kits and know where to find them at decent prices. Heck 5 years back PI shirts cannot even find it anywhere. And the only PI shirts that are "easy" (if we can say that) to find are the ones from the past 2 - 4 seasons where there are more in production etc. Even code 7 you cant really find for good prices. And another reason is becos alot of the clubs are selling old PI kits stored in their warehouse etc to individual sellers / retailers, so there is a surge of these shirts recently.

But how you value your shirt is really a personal preference la. Like pyro said, the PI kits are really meant for 2 totally differing reasons - 1) for hardcore use (the design is for the players, so ya its supposed to be more efficient, lighter and comfortable for play) or 2) for collection, since it is what the players wear exactly. Replicas wont fetch any high prices and is not valuable in the eyes of many of the hardcore collectors. Classic supply and demand. Of cos if you have a rare replica of some small successful club, it can also be priced more than a PI for a bigger club which is more readily available.

and for some big sized guy like me who cannot fit into the PI kits, i just keep them for collection. One of the main reasons most of us buy the shirts are because they resemble a part of history of our favourite team or player, and if that is so, the more "accurate" piece to get would be the PI, since replicas are meant to be more durable and are different from the players shirt. In fact, technically speaking, those of us who buy replica shirts and patch them with player sized NNs and patches are "wrong" to do that....cos there are replica sized nns for that tongue.gif

but yeah no big deal at the end of the day, its your choice so as long as they are original, no probs smile.gif

bro moonrider, replica here refers to the official replicas produced and sold by the clubs. We do not condone fakes here in this thread:)

Player issues are the shirts with specs exactly like those worn by the players. There will be differences (sometimes subtle, sometimes major) between replicas (ie the ones you see in tall the sports stores) and the PI kits. Even the technology is different, for e.g. Adidas climacool v Techfit c Formotion etc.

Added on August 24, 2010, 5:05 pmand yup I echo Faiz's sentiments. Its a fun hobby, no need to take it too seriously smile.gif everyone has their own preferences when collecting - thats what makes it a fun and unique experience for all.

re garytan, even if the raul nn is authentic, i would advice againsat it. 99% expired. NNs lifespan roughly 2-3 years (PU), after that really is by chance. sometimes lucky, mst of the time not.

re Faris21, firstly i think we should avoid using the word "avoid tax" in the discussion, as it is illegal to do so and is a punishable offence. Advice here is on analysing the legal position and is only for user's reference only.

The rule of thumb is to keep purchase below RM400- 450. The taxable limit for shirts is RM500.00 (inclusive shipping). With sites like Kitbag etc, note that the shipping is not the one quoted to us by KB and it is normally the actual rate declared by UPS which may or may not be different. and tax is only for new goods. If it is used (without tags and labelled as gifts) there should not be taxes involved.

Whether your parcel is "scanned" or checked by customs is really their pick, randomly at that. so if parcel is too big, it will attract attention and customs may check them.so advice is to keep it below 1kg to avoid unnecessary attention.

actually, now a couple of official club online stores offers the respect patch and starball / Europa league patch applied onto shirts bought from their website (so far only see non-KB operated websites with this offer) for GBP6 or thereabouts only. Not sold loose of course.

e.g. http://store.liverpoolfc.tv/products/footb...-1011/pid-31447 (same for home and away kit also)

no idea if the sizes vary (RS respect? hmmm) so maybe one can try here and let us know smile.gif

Added on September 15, 2010, 11:02 amand yup, if buy loose u have to find from ebay. Prices aint cheap either at around SGD80 per pair of patches at least.

yup, none sold officially at all. 99.99% fake / DIY.

FYI most of the fake WC kits come pre-applied with the patch. sigh
