How can your fit 13 HDD in there. From image i got below, it space just same like others normal PC.

the case have slots for 6 hdd. simple mod and you could fit 8 hdd in there.


i don't use the 2X5.25" drive bay and that could fit another 5 hdd.


i've posted in the HTPC thread before. it is somewhat an old pic.

haven't thought of anything like that. it's a personal collection. doubt anyone would be interested in it.
but i'm not the only one. have another friend that has as large collection as i am.

not hot. not noisy. no fan noise could be heard 3 feet away from the casing.
and of course no noise could be heard when the a movie is playing at 85dB.

the htpc with all hdd running is quieter than my aircond running above my head.

How did you manage to powerup 13hdd with a single power supply for your HTPC? Or did you do up a simple circuit to distribute the power?

the stock fan that comes with the casing. 2 silverstone fans. i believe any 80mm fan should be as silent.

a truepower PSU rated at around 500W should be able to power all the hdd. i'm using mostly samsung 5400rpm drives and those only require about 10W per drive.
i'm running 10 drives with a trupower 450W PSU and the voltage rails are still stable.

Am new to this forum.
Over the last few mths, I have copied around 4.5TB of movies from my friends, they are mainly 720p but with several 1080p ones. Size ranges from 4gb to 13gb. Currently, watching these movies using Dvico HD N1 (Cafe) connected to my Toshiba 42ZV600 FHD LCD tv.

I am trying to compare the PQ and AQ of these downloaded movies with:


1) non ori blue-ray movies which can be purchased in KL (not prepared to pay for the exorbitant price of originals).
2) rented ori blue-ray movies.


If the non ori movies or rented ori movies are much better then will consider purchasing a cheap BDP (eg. Philips BDP 3100)

Any comments from the sifus?

The days of needing 50 hdds is over. Now I just need shelf space for my BDs.

Unraid HDD is great on space availability. But when 1 or more HDD crash then your beloved data will be gone forever.

I believe nowaday there will be a group of peers sharing the same resources... if the case of HDD crashes, the group of peers will automatically be your backup

But it will take ages to get all 4TB data back from peers.
