popular because of the h264 codec

H264 codec is suitable to compress HD movie. That way HD movie always use MKV extension.

worth every penny. at least for some people.
never have the need to go to the movies anymore. why visit the cinema when the picture and audio quality is better at home? not to mention can stop, pause, crank the volume up and down, change seating position, eat kfc while watching, pause and tend the crying son and... re-watch any movies again.

RM70 for each movie is worth every penny considering i need to burn at least RM50 for each visit to the cinema. biggrin.gif
*
RM50? why so expensive? sweat.gif 3D movie in cinema just RM17 perperson.

MKV container still have a problem to support HD audio like DTS-HD/TrueHD.
Maybe we'll need a new container that better than MKV to support that one.

Picture not sharp and sound poor. doh.gif

Last time when i watch Clash of The Titan at GSC tropicana, the PQ is really worst.
When i come again for new movies (sorcerers apprentice), the PQ is great. Maybe they don't service their projector that day.

surely the family will tag along. the husband has to pay for everything la bro. tickets for everyone, popcorn, soft drinks. add those will increase the cost of going to the cinema exponentially tongue.gif
and that if the wife doesn't find something that she likes. if should accidentally stumble upon a 'cheap' RM200 'on sale' pair of shoes and home does seem like a more enticing place to be in. heheĀ  biggrin.gif

If 2TB not enough, then you should consider to get NAS with 8-10TB. tongue.gif

Unraid HDD is great on space availability. But when 1 or more HDD crash then your beloved data will be gone forever. icon_rolleyes.gif

I believe nowaday there will be a group of peers sharing the same resources...  if the case of HDD crashes, the group of peers will automatically be your backup  biggrin.gif

But it will take ages to get all 4TB data back from peers. tongue.gif

I have play MKV 720P files thats connected directly from my 3.5" Ext HDD to SAMSUMG Bluray player. Everything run perfectly. However its not work well with 1080P format. The movie is lagging. Is there any better way of playing MKV 1080P file?
*
Seems you player don't support 1080p.

TrueHD audio file only is just 4GB. If combine with 8GB 1080p AVC, I think it MKV file is should not more than 15GB.
