QUOTE(ba5tard @ Apr 14 2011, 10:57 PM) i thought milk contain of lactose which is low gi?? can any1 confirm wit me this?? thanks... Lactose is still ok, i think. However, the chocolate flavour milk got lots of added sugar. Lactose is the least sweet sugar among the sugar. So they add sucrose to get the sweet taste. See the milk nutritional info and see how much sugar they add to the milk. source: http://academic.pgcc.edu/~ssinex/blt/carbo...rbohydrates.htmThis post has been edited by kurtkob78: Apr 15 2011, 11:33 AM

QUOTE(papamia @ Apr 19 2011, 11:57 PM) Hi guys, I'm very new in this subforum so pardon me if I post in the wrong section. I'm overweight now and my current BMI is 27. Previously it was 26 but after I quit smoking, my body size just went up. It's affecting my confidence. I used to exercise, 20 mins of non-stop jogging. I did that for 1 month and slimmed down a lot, was better looking than ever. Now I want to lose weight and work out. I think yeah I can jog for 20mins a day, no problem, just have to start somewhere coz I like to procrastinate. As for working out, I got no gym near to my house as I'm still studying and hence do not own a car. Can anybody give me some advice? Or at least tell me what to do? Initially, try to extend your jog time to 30 minutes. Do it 4-5 times a week You can include resistance training in your workout days. like push up, sit up, pull up, sprint

maybe in 1 month can lose 2-3 kg. But it all depends on your diet exercise. For example if you dont reduce your calories or just do a very slow jog, your fat loss progress will be slow.
Diet, eat 5-6 small complete meal a day. eat enough protein and drink enough water. eat your vege and wholegrain and some fruit and good fat

QUOTE(Kyozen @ May 5 2011, 12:52 PM) has anyone tried out Special K diet plan? does it really help and are there any side effects? and also is it true that to lose weight (especially beer belly), after 1 hour of cardio exercise do not immediately drink water and dont drink too much? no it's not true. Drink your water or otherwise your will get dehydrated .... sufficient water is need for proper body function

firstly you diet is really not healthy. You are starving yourself. Only eat for dinner. Do you know it's not good to have heavier dinner compared to other meal?
Why not eat try: B/fast: lowfat milk + oat Lunch: A little rice with fish/chicken soup and vege dinner: chicken salad.

yes you can follow my suggestion. People need to eat to lose weight healthily
As for dinner, i suggest you to take some protein to help maintain your metabolism. When your metabolism down, it will be harder for you to lose weight
So try to add low fat milk to your dinner. Keep the calories low for dinner but try your best to include protein

do you mean eat oat with fried chicken ? yes you can try this. but drain the oil and wipe the oil of the chicken to further reduce the calories. If you want to boil / roast / grill that will be even better

QUOTE(hellomiss @ May 10 2011, 05:53 PM) i mean use oat as the crumbs of my fried chicken..can? and have it with potato instead of rice. is that okay? this is a no no. If you fry you chicken with oats, the oats will absorb the oil too much. Unless you roast / bake your chicken with oat, then it's ok. Better to take rice. Because potato has a higher glycemic index .... And hellomiss, you need to study more about dieting. From what I see, you have no clue in dieting

yes you can lose 2-3 kg in a week .. but most probably water weight ... if you lose too fast, its not healthy. You will probably gain it back. First 1 week you can lose 2-3kg because of water weight, the week after, target to lose 1kg per week.

because until march 2012, you got plenty of time. You can start slow like introducing cardio 30 minutes for 3-4 times a week. Expect initial reduction of 1-2kg per month. The stricter diet and exercise can start at 3 month before dateline.
