I have a method. Try buying yourself an expensive or a cloth/pants that you truly love. If you did not control your weight, you will not be able to fit in those pants.

Aside from using this method, I hate seeing myself fat as I was once a fat person. All the criticism and insults due to my weight was something I am ashamed about when I was a kid. From there, I really putted in effort to change into a person who I am right now.

Haha, talking bout pants. I have a pair of pants from years back that I use to gauge myself rather than the weight scale. When I struggle to fit, it's time to drop a few pounds. Pants and mirror, that's my weapon of choice.

One chocolate cake doesn't make you fat. Your lifestyle makes you fat.

Do what you want but unless you change your lifestyle, don't expect much.

Since we're on numbers, taking in consideration on the information so far, I'll put my money on 5kg.

I'll race you for extra motivation if you want, started this week. But my program is centered around weight loss/strength gain for better pull up performance.

The feeling of soreness should be normal. If you feel sharp pain, then get it checked.

Tightening when you straighten your arm, sounds like your biceps. Yup, it's soreness. No worries there.

Syd's right.

A lot of Asian countries are carb heavy because of economic reasons. During my grandparents time, meat was something special which they ate during celebrations as it was expensive. Meat. Fish. Rice and potatoes were the staple diet.

During days when they had to put in harder work, they added sugar to the potatoes. No wonder my grandparents got diabetes.

Malaysia generally has gotten more affluent conpared to the old days. We can afford to integrate protein sources into our diet now, but it's still pricey. Next time you're at the mamak or economy rice stall, grab a piece of fish instead of veggies and see how much more the price jumps.

Oh, this is because this friend of mine told me that weight lifting is for muscle building, therefore helps little in fat burning.

best exercise in terms of reducing waistline? icon_question.gif
*
Your friend sees the obvious, but doesn't know beyond that. Allow me to assist you.

Weight lifting is an Olympic sport. I doubt most of us do weight lifting at all, but most o us do weight training. Which I believe is that you're trying to get across. Weight training helps build muscle, correct.

Now, everyone talks about fat burning. What burns fat? Running I hear you say? Running is the activity, what I want is the component. Does your stomach burn fat? How about your lungs? Muscle. Muscles burns off energy coming from either the carbs you consume or your fat reserve, so muscle burns fat. Muscle are like the ovens. The more ovens you got, the faster you burn. That is why big muscle bound guys gas out faster, because they are burning energy at a faster rate than regular guys.

what do you all suggest i do when i get hungry during or immediately after workout??if i don't get rid of the hunger,i can't focus and muscles start shaking alot =( but i'm scared to eat coz i'm trying to keep my weight down =\
*
Eat. The worse thing you can do when you're starving after a workout is not eat. Just know what and how much you're eating.

Vinesh,
I thought ovens would be closer to home as everyone dreams of raiding the kitchen during a strict diet. smile.gif

and before this, last year,i have do sit up around almost 100 a day,my stomach will feel pain but i feel better after a few days, and feel a bit keras

*
100 situps a day won't give you washboard abs or flatten your tummy.
100 situps a day will give you sore abs.

what about if i get hungry during workout???
a character on a tv show sed if we ate within 30 minutes of working out,we'd gain fat soo i was worried  tongue.gif ooz i usually get hungry immediately.
*
If you start believing what characters on TV shows say, I would say stop watching TV. They're TV shows for a reason, and it's entertainment.

You get hungry during workouts, I do too sometimes. What do you want to do about it? At least wait until your workout is over I would think. What and how much you eat after a workout is also important. I mean, it's okay to grab a meal post workout and that's one thing. But if you start scruffing double cheese burgers and big macs after workouts and not expect to get fat then it's over-stepping it a little. Eat, but pick your food and watch your quantity.

In view of the 'no time' excuses, I went seaching for Syd G's 'less internet time, less game time, less doing nothing time = more time' post to add to yours Vinesh but I couldn't find it.

I hate it when this happens.

So the proper way is, food control is still a must, don't miss out meat because of it is protein provider, workout is another way to burn calories in order to lose fat. Am I right?
*
Let me summarize for you.

Eat, know what you're putting in your body.
Workout, get this is one way or another.

It's this simple.

I would suggest picking up on basic nutrition. Vetting foods on a forum is no way to live.

When you have lost weight and put on some athletic muscles on that frame, you will soon realize the weight scale means nothing. It's not how much you weight that matters anymore, it's how much you look you weigh in the mirror.
