QUOTE(syndicate @ Oct 17 2010, 12:08 PM) usually when i go out for lunch with my friends, they tend to look at me with a weird look cause im not eating any rice.. I love bananas. Gives me good energy before I hit the gym.hahaha so.. replace the rice with veggies right? i see.. any suggestion on the fruits? i heard banana is ok for us... 2 bananas for morning break seem ok right? currently i only do low intensity exercise only.. because my trainer said so.. he said that low intensity exercise is good for weight loss.. for cardio,i'll usually do brisk walking exercise.. tried cycling before because before i enter the gym,i am so eager to do cycling.. however, doing something on the treadmill is much much more fun.. hehhe below are the setting for my brisk walking exercise speed=5.5kmh incline=5(will increase to the maximum of 15 in the future) duration=20-30minutes after that, ill usually do circuit training only.. for dinner.. is there any other alternatives that i can take to replace the tandoori chicken? quite expensive la.. RM 6 per plate.. hahahaha overall.. if i follow my revised diet plan, around what numbere eh my total calories intake? One thing I don't get, low intensity is good for weight loss? If I do realy low intensity work like I walk around my house for 10 minutes, 3 days a week it's going to help me lose more weight than hitting the gym and sweating buckets? Oh, I got beef with your trainer now. If you're starting out, yes I would put you on a low intensity workout. But not because it is better for weight loss, but because your body needs to gradually adapt to the physical demands you're puting it through. And once you've adapted, high intensity you go. You might want to ask your trainer how exactly is low intensity exercise good for weight loss as opposed to high intensity. Alternatives to tandoori chicken? I'll direct you to http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/301136. Lots of potential recipes there, and you can compare their diet with yours. I'll add a bit later, right now I'm late for footie. Arrgghhh.... QUOTE(NOX @ Oct 18 2010, 07:36 PM) Let's not get started with bodytypes and saying that's the reason you can't lose weight. The singular most important aspect of physique transaformation for me is doing weights. Which is more important to you, losing weight for looking fit? A lot of guys want to look fit too! Your probably don't have that high a muscle mass, which means you don't burn half as much as compared to a bodybuilder at your weightclass. We talk about burn, but what does the burning? Muscle. I have such a case in my office. The guy runs every day and good news is, he's not getting anyfatter. Bad news, he's not getting any thinner as well. How long have you started running and cycling? You can do all the HIIT you want but in the end of the day you're not getting the results, time to try something else. Try hitting the weights. Get started on basic weight training, and the put in a day or two or cardio. You can retain that diet of yours, you don't have to change it. Try it for 3 months, and then you tell me you cannot see an improvement. |

QUOTE(Syd G @ Oct 18 2010, 08:56 PM) If someone can do HIIT 5x a week then the HIIT is not intensive enough I would agree, spotted that during his earlier post :I usually rest for at least 2 days between HIIT sessions. QUOTE(NOX @ Oct 15 2010, 06:40 PM) my HIIT* = i jog til i run out of breath@max heart beat then i walk til my heart beat drop slow.. 1 round i can get 4-6 repetition.. all 4 near 1 hour.. HIIT totally destroys me in 15 minutes. So his version of HIIT is nowhere near what we call HIIT, it's HIIT without the HI. It's just interval training. However, he mentioned he just started a couple of weeks ago. HIIT isn't something I'd recommend for new recruits, the high intensity part is a major wrecker if your body isn't yet conditioned and I doubt most new recruits have the willpower to drag themselves through HIIT week in week out by themselves. I think he would be better served by spending the first 3 months getting his strength levels and muscles up, and once we have some muscles on that frame, we can cardio more effectively to chip off the fat. Views appreciated. |

QUOTE(vinesh22 @ Oct 18 2010, 09:25 PM) Your weight going up doesnt necessarily mean you're not loosing fat, but the fact that you're not doing weights and the weight is pounding on is a bit odd. You might be thinking muscle gain, and I think that's the case. He doesn't do weights, but his cardio is all lower body intensive. So despite the fact that he doesn't do weights, his cardio is making his lower body to do all the resistance work and that might prompt muscle gain. I've friends who have never done a single squat (Weight training terms) in their life, but their legs are all lean and muscular because they get their weekly fix of football. |

QUOTE(vinesh22 @ Oct 19 2010, 02:33 PM) pez, fats wise, A LOT in that 6 months. At the same time, I was really really strict with my food intakes and did LOADS of weight training. Proud to be almost 80kg now, but with less than 13% bodyfat. Weight training and leaning more towards bodybuilding, although not professionally, was probably the best thing I've done I've done loads of cardio prior to me hitting the gym. Didn't have that much of an effect on me. I would also say weight training was the best thing I've done as well, I attribute getting the body I want to weight training. Someone asked me once, if I could go back in time when I was seriously unfit and all my friends which I haven't seen in a while would point out to me "Waa, got perut already ah!", what would be the one exercise I would do. I answered weight training. No lie. Nothing I've experienced have transformed my body more.My version of HIIT invovles very little running because I need to keep my legs fresh for footie. I go for barbell or weight plate complexes. Grab that weight plate (25 lbs for me), do 3 sets of the complex. 12 minutes and I'm usually on my back sucking wind. For complexes, even light weigths can punish you enough. |

A gym trainer who believes in it is as good as any average joe on the street believing in it. There are many good trainers around, but there also those who don't deal with facts but believe in myths.
I had a friend who tried to convince me to go on that diet. Wasn't sold. Too many assumptions and too little fact. |

Just go to the doctors and verify your athsma isn't acting up. Once that is out of the way, you should be good to go.

QUOTE(pinkdalmation @ Oct 23 2010, 07:35 PM) Hi, dont know if its related, but my doctor put me on medication which has made my appetite increase ... not good for weight loss effort Smack those 'few people' for me will ya?i tried to compensate by snacking more on fruits and increasing veggies but a few people told me veggie/fruits is all carbs and I shouldnt be taking so much ?? can anyone clarify cos its the first time i've heard such a thing . . . You're hungry, you're definitely going to eat something. I'll simplify it. 1 calorie from an apple is not equal to 1 calorie from nasi lemak. If you're eating fruits and vegetables instead of burgers, I don't think it's going to make you fat as compared to just eating burgers. |

Oh, the bitter irony. I'm getting on the weight loss train starting monday.
Quit gym in March because of overseas assignments, and rejoined gym in September. Half a year doesn't show as much in your physique as in your strength levels. Heck, even dropping my previous weights by 25% doesn't make it easier. Pants getting tighter so I guess I'll aim to shave off 3 kgs or 2 inches off my waist. So, my goal will be to shave off excess weight while increasing strength levels. Parameters : - Natural foods, slight alteration in diet. Lower carb intake on normal days, higher carbs on two days a week during intense weight sessions. - A normal tub of protein powder to make out for the lack of protein in my diet. No other supplements. No fat burner, nothing. - Ramping up my workouts to six days a week. It's the perfect opportunity for me to see how much applied knowledge can help in terms of fat loss. |

QUOTE(cckkpr @ Oct 27 2010, 04:47 PM) I would like to seek some advice on those "nutrients diet" to lose weight. Definition of "nutrients diet"?Is this practicable or merely a short term temporary condition, meaning if you go back to your normal meals, you would recover those lost pounds in no time. An effective diet is one you can sustain long term, maybe for the rest of your life even. Diet is what you eat everyday, not something you do to lose weight. What you are describing sounds like a short term fad diet fix, as you mentioned about going back to 'normal meals'. Short term diets never work long term. |
