There’ll be kids in back gardens across the country trying to perfect the art of scoring a goal by kicking the ball against their own face. We should call the move “the Chicharito”!

QUOTE(Apis_LuaLua @ Aug 10 2010, 03:14 AM) he's not fabregas lol(i mean speed is not his advantage.but other than than and his inconsistency this season,i think Carrick is a great player.even xavi tabik sama dia) i still thinks Manchester United need a proper attacking midfielder/box to box midfielder though.van der vaart comes to mind |

Carrick/Scholes the sitter dictating play. Fletcher the runner. Ando with the extra bit.
If the guy can play comfortably in a 2 CM setup, chances are high. If not, nah.. hard to see us get those kind of players. VDV, Sneijder, Ozil.. all of them play ahead of the CMs. And we don't often play that way. |

QUOTE(ayanami_tard @ Aug 10 2010, 04:32 PM) Since forever. The closest is Scholes in 02/03 when he played behind Ruud in the hole. Before that, and since then, nobody else although maybe Giggs count as one since he plays behind the striker now and then. It's a luxury for us at the moment since we don't require someone playing that role that often. |

When Carrick played for Tottenham, he was a pure DMC, sitting back and spraying passes to his team mates.
When he joined Man Utd, the first thing that he was tasked to do was become a box to box midfielder. And that he did, with aplomb, partnering Scholes and helping us to our first title in 3 years during the 06/07 season. I'm not sure what happened to him last season, he sorta just lets games pass him by. Here's to hoping this season will see more of that 06/07 vintage. QUOTE(O-haiyo @ Aug 10 2010, 03:47 PM) Not exactly. His tackling is horrifying. Yes. But he can really read the game and break up plays. There were times last season when he was playing with Carrick where I thought he was the only man in midfield doing all the defending and breaking up plays. Chucking people on the floor in the process. |

Right now it seems that Giggs is perfect for that role. With his ball control and superb through passing,he can become the Attacking Midfielder we always wanted....at age 36 Btw,Scholes' horrible tackling is just a psychological game he plays with the opponents. He WANTS the opponents to know that when he goes in,he's going in hard and gonna punish you, thus making the opposing player be wary and somewhat afraid for their own safety resulting in bad possessions and over-thinking whenever Scholesy is around. Or thats what i'd like to believe anyway |

Izzit the QUOTE(Wan @ Aug 10 2010, 06:11 PM) http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid=...&newsid=6650547QUOTE Ten fixtures changed The Reds' 2010/11 league campaign will kick off under floodlights against Newcastle United on Monday 16 August (20:00 BST). Originally scheduled for 15:00 on Saturday, this first fixture change has been made for live broadcast on Sky Sports. The Magpies clash is one of 10 United league games that will be televised live before the end of November. Chicharito settling in QUOTE Nemanja Vidic is impressed by the way Javier Hernandez has adapted to life at United, while Paul Scholes has likened Chicharito's clinical finishing to former team-mate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Hernandez scored on his competitive debut in Sunday’s Community Shield win over Chelsea, having already hit two goals for the Reds in pre-season. "He looks sharp," Vidic told MUTV. "He likes the ball played in behind the defence, he has pace and has scored already, which will be great for his confidence. He seems like he's enjoying himself, he speaks English well and that’s helped him to settle more quickly. It's like he's been here for three years!" And when Scholes is almost effusive with his praise, you know the recipient must be worthy of it. "He looks like an out-and-out goalscorer," says Scholes. "That’s not to say he can’t play outside the box as well, because when the ball comes up to him his touch is good as well. But he's a threat in behind defenders, and hopefully he’ll score a lot of goals this year. "People say he's like Ole, and I thought that the first time I saw him in training. We did a finishing session and everything was in the bottom corner. He scores whenever he gets a chance. He comes on and looks lively. He’s adapted to the pace of the game already. He's capable of scoring goals and if he’s anything like Ole, we’ll take that." Vidic, who was captain for the day at Wembley, was also pleased to see Dimitar Berbatov get on the scoresheet with an exquisite chip in stoppage-time. "Everything Dimi does on the pitch is brilliant, but for him it's important to score goals too," the Serbian said. "I hope he gets a few this year to help us win trophies." Vida’s happy to have ended speculation about his future by agreeing a new long-term deal at the end of last month. "I'm happy everyone is behind me," he added. "In my head I was clear, but now all the talk off the pitch will stop and that's helpful for me and the fans." http://www.manutd.com/default.sps?pagegid=...&newsid=6651269 Pre-season special: Scholes' amazing trick » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnew...s_amazing_trick Pre-season special: Giggs the man for all seasons! » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnew...for_all_seasons Pre-season special: Hernandez a huge hit » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereveningnew...ndez_a_huge_hit This post has been edited by alien2003: Aug 10 2010, 08:04 PM |
