To be honest i am pretty disappointed with the new signing. Not disappointed with Bebe because he hasnt proved himself, but disappointed with United's transfer policy. When asked about Ozil, SAF said we had a good enough squad, he is happy with what we got etc. The next thing you know, he signed another striker where we already have abundance in terms of experience (Rooney, Berba, Owen) and new blood (Chicharito, Macheda, Welbeck, Diouf). So his reason of "got enough players" for not signing Ozil seems baseless this time round.
OK, maybe i am just sore because it was not Ozil that was signed

But i wish Man Utd will make some big signings every now and then. Of course not 5-6 per season like our friendly neighbour, but after Berba in 2008, all our signings are relatively to buy those unknown players. Just because Ronaldo was unknown before and turned out to be the world's greatest, doesnt mean that it will work with everyone

I still think Man Utd will benefit from a creative midfielder rather than to add 1 more into our strikeforce. 6 players for 2 spots (or 1 since Man Utd are comfortable with 4-5-1) seems a bit too much.
PS: am i a transfer muppet for ranting? hehehe...
There's a difference between signing a potential player, and someone who would go straight into the lineup. Bebe is the former while Ozil would be the latter. When he said he has enough, it's for the latter types. And as for potential, if we see a good one, we would take a punt. Not sure what our strategy is. Manucho, Tosic.. we sign them, hardly play for us, and sell them off for a small profit. Diouf might fall under the same category, IMO at least. If it doesn't have a big affect, I see no problem with the strategy. Might make us some money, and maybe we can unearth a gem now and then. Just wonder why we didn't sign Ljajic.. because since then we got Obertan(4m), and now this Bebe(7.5m) for similar fees.
And we can never trust SAF when it comes to transfer. He probably enjoy seeing the journalists and fans alike surprised and confused that we signed a nobody for 7.5m pounds for a position that we don't need. In any case it looks like this Bebe could turn out as anything playing in the attacking third. Wide, middle. He looks very raw, and I don't think he will feature that much, unless he is special. Doesn't look like one.. yet.
SAF see things differently than most of us. We have to look at the squad and first 11. Do we really need a big name? Our first 11 is strong as it is right now and so is the squad. We've been crying out for the same thing, but he almost did nothing about it. We got Ando of course, and maybe he's just waiting for him to ripe.. along with Gibson. We still have time with Scholes and Giggs around.
That creative midfielder. Problem is, apart from a few games, we don't utilize an AM. Sneijder, VDV, Ozil.. they play in advanced position behind the striker just ahead of the CMs. We don't play that way that often. Last season Ando play it against Chelsea away, and Park in the Milan games. But apart from those, it's a 433/442. That's why we don't look at a VDV/Sneijder IMO. Heck, look at Ando. He was an AM or someone that play in an attacking position. But we turned him into a deep lying midfielder almost.
442 no need to explain. 433.. 3 CMs alongside each other is what we usually play.
Runner-Sitter-3rdCM
The runner.. trying to do all sort of stuff up and down the pitch.
The sitter.. sitting in the middle giving balance and controlling the possession and spreading play.
And that 3rd CM.. where whoever plays hopefully will come up with something extra. A goal, a creative element whatever(Ando/Gibson)
We might not play all those types, but at least 2 of those is certain of their places. Carrick/Scholes and Fletcher. So it's up to the other CM to bring something extra to the table.
And the transfer season ain't over yet. We might well sign Ozil in the coming weeks. Cheap, good and we made a move for him before he joined Bremen a few years back so definitely we know a lot about him. But as always, if we don't get him or anyone else, it doesn't mean a thing.
