The more games that he plays, the better it is for us at this early stage. Just hope he doesn't get injured. We don't need him in the early part of the season with Berba, Hernandez and Owen around.

Hernandez is playing Spain right now right? Crap. Why do they have these friendlies just before the start of the season?

Good goal. No Spanish defenders near him when he got through there. Low through ball, Vela offside, but didn't chase and Hernandez(was miles ONSIDE) was clear through. Ball went to the left of him, took a touch to the right, and instead of taking it past Cassilas, shot low to the left of the goal.. Was a small space between Cassilas and the post to hit it, but he did it. Now I'm excited! biggrin.gif
France, Spain, Argentina, Us, Chelsea. 3 months. Not bad.

QUOTE(mhyug @ Aug 12 2010, 04:33 AM)
some how chicharito does look like the oal movie actor, mr ean and many more. laugh.gif
no..no..no. its a tough league year by year and we need our trump cards mate.owen is still a long shot, berba is on and off while chicharito is new.better not take any chances.all 4 of them can misfire any game so might as well have all of them, simply put we need rooney fresh and not over worked.
*
Rooney could be on and off or misfire. tongue.gif Not saying we absolutely don't need him, but we can do well without him. Berba-Anyone of the two would do well or Macheda even. Newcastle home, Fulham away, West Ham at home, Everton, Liverpool.. we can get away in the first 3 games. After that we might need him. But I want to see how Hernandez does in the league. If he keeps on scoring goals, it would be hard not to play him.

We sign Obertan and Valencia last season while Cleverley was on loan. Those players are still at the club and we're keeping Cleverley. And besides, this guy is basically an unknown. Was playing god knows where who only 5 weeks back signed for a 3rd div Portuguese team, and now here he is.

Bebe? I bet no one has ever heard of him. Well I hope he wont follow Manucho's and Diouf's footstep, since sheep has starting to like this guy biggrin.gif
7m for an unknown player, he better be chicharito v2. I got a feeling that Welbeck is going to do a Campbell. I got that feeling long long time ago.  Well it's interesting to see what SAF is doing with Roon, Berba, Macheda, Owen, Chicharito, Bebe, Diouf, Welbeck though the latter two is out on loan. 8 players for 2 spot.
nevertheless, Welcome to Manchester, Bebe!
*
Campbell relied too much on his pace.

Welbeck got the complete package.. except for his strength. But he's already stronger this time around compared to last. laugh.gif

rooney,berbatov,owen,chicharito,macheda,diouf,welbeck,bebe

1 officially loan,1 in this week (loan)

so we have 6 striker for 2 spots.. shakehead.gif

is this guy BEBE (sound like justin bieber song) will play in reserve team as it cost him 7.4 m almost same as chicharito..

what happen guys????? rclxub.gif

Even if someone like Wenger have a pair of the worlds best eyes/glasses, and he is a great judge of talented kids, there's still no guarantee what he thinks those kids will become in the future will become true.

Bellion, Dong, Rossi, Manucho, Macheda, Diouf, Chicharito and now Bebe.
Won't be the first and last time we would sign an unknown. Maybe only about one in 10-50 would turn out to be stars or good enough to contribute to the team, but signing a proven star doesn't guarantee it would be a success either. So clubs will always take a chance if they see a talent.

He's like the modern forward from the vids. Can play out wide or in the middle. All rounder. Very raw though.

QUOTE(pyroboy1911 @ Aug 12 2010, 09:00 AM)
To be honest i am pretty disappointed with the new signing. Not disappointed with Bebe because he hasnt proved himself, but disappointed with United's transfer policy. When asked about Ozil, SAF said we had a  good enough squad, he is happy with what we got etc. The next thing you know, he signed another striker where we already have abundance in terms of experience (Rooney, Berba, Owen) and new blood (Chicharito, Macheda, Welbeck, Diouf). So his reason of "got enough players" for not signing Ozil seems baseless this time round.

OK, maybe i am just sore because it was not Ozil that was signed tongue.gif But i wish Man Utd will make some big signings every now and then. Of course not 5-6 per season like our friendly neighbour, but after Berba in 2008, all our signings are relatively to buy those unknown players. Just because Ronaldo was unknown before and turned out to be the world's greatest, doesnt mean that it will work with everyone tongue.gif I still think Man Utd will benefit from a creative midfielder rather than to add 1 more into our strikeforce. 6 players for 2 spots (or 1 since Man Utd are comfortable with 4-5-1) seems a bit too much.

PS: am i a transfer muppet for ranting? hehehe...
*
There's a difference between signing a potential player, and someone who would go straight into the lineup. Bebe is the former while Ozil would be the latter. When he said he has enough, it's for the latter types. And as for potential, if we see a good one, we would take a punt. Not sure what our strategy is. Manucho, Tosic.. we sign them, hardly play for us, and sell them off for a small profit. Diouf might fall under the same category, IMO at least. If it doesn't have a big affect, I see no problem with the strategy. Might make us some money, and maybe we can unearth a gem now and then. Just wonder why we didn't sign Ljajic.. because since then we got Obertan(4m), and now this Bebe(7.5m) for similar fees.

And we can never trust SAF when it comes to transfer. He probably enjoy seeing the journalists and fans alike surprised and confused that we signed a nobody for 7.5m pounds for a position that we don't need. In any case it looks like this Bebe could turn out as anything playing in the attacking third. Wide, middle. He looks very raw, and I don't think he will feature that much, unless he is special. Doesn't look like one.. yet.

SAF see things differently than most of us. We have to look at the squad and first 11. Do we really need a big name? Our first 11 is strong as it is right now and so is the squad. We've been crying out for the same thing, but he almost did nothing about it. We got Ando of course, and maybe he's just waiting for him to ripe.. along with Gibson. We still have time with Scholes and Giggs around.

That creative midfielder. Problem is, apart from a few games, we don't utilize an AM. Sneijder, VDV, Ozil.. they play in advanced position behind the striker just ahead of the CMs. We don't play that way that often. Last season Ando play it against Chelsea away, and Park in the Milan games. But apart from those, it's a 433/442. That's why we don't look at a VDV/Sneijder IMO. Heck, look at Ando. He was an AM or someone that play in an attacking position. But we turned him into a deep lying midfielder almost.

442 no need to explain. 433.. 3 CMs alongside each other is what we usually play.

Runner-Sitter-3rdCM

The runner.. trying to do all sort of stuff up and down the pitch.

The sitter.. sitting in the middle giving balance and controlling the possession and spreading play.

And that 3rd CM.. where whoever plays hopefully will come up with something extra. A goal, a creative element whatever(Ando/Gibson)

We might not play all those types, but at least 2 of those is certain of their places. Carrick/Scholes and Fletcher. So it's up to the other CM to bring something extra to the table.

And the transfer season ain't over yet. We might well sign Ozil in the coming weeks. Cheap, good and we made a move for him before he joined Bremen a few years back so definitely we know a lot about him. But as always, if we don't get him or anyone else, it doesn't mean a thing.

Another striker? Not sure if we need one now with the existence of current strikers.. That money could have been used to buy a young midfielder to succeed the likes of Carrick and Scholes who may have 2-3 years left in them.. Bebe will get very little playing time or maybe loaned out almost instantly..
*
Ando, Gibson..
James on loan, Pogba in reserve

And he's not just a striker from the clips. Could well play out wide. Not that we needed any of those.

QUOTE(Regalia @ Aug 12 2010, 05:10 PM)
Smalling - ~£10m (20 years old)
Hernandez - ~£7m (22 years old)
Bebe - ~£7.4m (20 years old)

We seem to have been reduced to following Wenger's transfer policy. Maybe not 'reduced to' if it's really true that 'we have money but can't find value in the market'. IMO, SAF probably knows that we cannot compete with the type of prices being thrown around in the market these days. So, better to get youngsters with potential in the hope for at least one to strike gold.

Watched vids of Bebe too and frankly didn't see him score many goals (yeah ironic for highlight vids). So, maybe SAF wants him to play on the wings? Whatever, for 7m quid I do hope we at least see him on the subs bench soon. hmm.gif
*
Too early to tell whether we've gone the Wenger route. Money is there if we need it. We're just being reasonable with it. And to be fair to the club, we don't need to add a 20-30m player. There is a hole in the side regarding Scholes, but Carrick on form, and the likes of Ando and Gibson growing up will be able to fill it in time. And we've never really been a big spender outside of the league. There was Stam, Ruud, Veron.. but apart from those majority is from the EPL itself. It will be interesting to see what we do when the time comes to replace VDS.

VDS
Rafael-Vida-Evans-Evra
Valencia-Carrick-Fletcher-Nani(Ando)
Rooney-Berba(Chicharito!)

QUOTE(leongtat @ Aug 12 2010, 06:54 PM)
Among the 3 player we've signed... i think Smalling will be the biggest flop... hope he prove me wrong... he did not really impress me during the pre-season... look sloppy and nervous...
*
Smalling is a 2-4 seasons project.. this season would be too early to judge. Looks to have the tools. Just now hoping the mental side will adapt to the way we defend and how he's supposed to do at specific times. See any young defenders apart from Evans, and you'd find the same kind of weaknesses. Rio got the same kind of tag, although he was rated far higher back then.

QUOTE(Joelzinho;21569428)
First time I am hearing of Bebe as well. Very interesting to say the least that Manchester United picked him up. Estrela Amadora are a fairly good side, they were playing in the first division about 2 years back, but got relegated and got into trouble with the league over paying players so they got forced into the 3rd division. However, a number of good players of come out of that team/area.

Miguel, Nani, Manuel Fernandes, Andrade, Xavier, Nelson, Hilario are from the area and have represented them at one point. So they do have a good reputation on finding talent (Amadora). I just read on Maisfutebol that he grew up in orphanges around the Lisbon area his entire life.....

Its kind of a mystery to me though....

QUOTE(Joelzinho;21569724)
So basically, hes not a striker. He plays as an AM, but Victoria were testing him out as a striker in pre - season. I am kind of surprise Bebe himself choose to switch sides so fast, because Victoria Guimareas is actually a pretty big club in Portugal. They have a religious following up there. Myself I had never heard of him. Its even more surprising that one of the Lisbon outfit Sporting or Benfica didn`t spot him first...especially Sporting.

I was just talking to my cousin, and he said he went to a Victoria Pre- Season game, and he didn't know who Bebe was either, but by the end of the game, he said you could see it was obvious that he was oozing talent and better then most of the people on the field. He said hes really fast and calm on the ball. He told me that Jose Mourinho was also tracking him since last year and that was the reason why Madrid was making inquiries. Also, he said when he was on he played in the hole behind the strikers.

See what I do for you guys, I just spent like $10 dollars on long distance, to call my cousin at 4:00 AM in the morning over there...lol...I should be considered a top red.

P.S: My cousin was drunk..lolol...a large grain of salt needs to be taken with this information.
Hmm..
So a player who can play 11-10-7

So he was part of a squad in the top flight a few seasons back. Got relegated because of financial problems, forced to play the young ones since I bet many players left, he got his chance then, impresses people, got a move back to a top flight team, impresses in pre-season games, and here he is..

His old club was once in the top division. Financial problems, got relegated to 3rd Div in 08/09 and stayed there last year too? They sign him somwhere in between those where he was a regular last season. Then 5 weeks back a team in the top division bought him for a very cheap price. He impressed in pre-season friendlies with lots of scouts present.. and there was 4 clubs who was interested or made a bid for him according to the president including us with one 'rumoured' to be Real Madrid. He chose us over the others.

with our lads away on adopted clubs like sunderland and blackburn, thats in the league while in the championship there are a host of them scattered all around.so would you guys be following these clubs?? besides for the obvious reasons wch is a small hope they do a favour for us in defeating the usual suspects hmm.gif

Might not watch their games too much unless I have nothing else to do, but would follow their club's results and read the forums now and then to see the reactions. Welbeck at Sunderland, James and King at Preston definitely would be fun. Diouf might spring a surprise as well. Although he's a bit hit and miss, but his pace and the way he always look to run in behind will get him a few goals.
