hrm.. i recall astro also did set foot in india, perhaps tata sky is astro's india services, of course with diff name but shares the similar gui etc... cheaper that way instead of hiring new bunch of ppl to setup another diff decoder n programming stuff... even that espn hd logo was the same as we had previously over here before switching to sg feed

Recently, I find that my info bar has moved to the middle of the screen when I press the OK key instead of the normal position at the bottom. The actual video itself is unaffected. And when I press Menu, the picture occupies only the top half of the screen. This is on my LCD thru the HDMI connection.

The parallel picture from the RCA out to my other TV does not have that problem.

Anyone else experiencing that?

Astro is installing B.yond box for new subscriber whether or not they subscribe to HD Services.  If Astro will to change all to B.yond box then those will don't subscribe to HD Services will recieve the HD & SD channel but their HD port disable that mean they can use RCA cable (HD channel but SD picture).  Then Astro only needs to broadcast in HD only no need to duplicate in SD, so free up the bandwidth.  And Astro will change all to B.yond box, cos AOD subscriber always switch their smart card with thier friends.  B.yond box smart card can't be interchange.

there's no scaler in the byond box is there?

I've checked the numbers and 150Mbps is not right.

Say a 70-minute episode of Band of Brothers. 70 minutes x 60 seconds = 4200 seconds. For that episode to utilize a 150Mbps bandwidth, it will total up to 630GB full of HDD space. A 630GB for a 70-minute episode is indeed possible BUT that amount of data is achieved when you're using UNCOMPRESSED video.

If you take a look at the image, you'll see that the video is compressed with H264. Not only that, it is INTERLACED video. So "150,000" is not 150 Mbps. Maybe it's just 15 Mbps.

DVD bandwidth are just that. You can't compare that to HD's H264.

Hey fuad, at first I also feel that 150,000 isnt 150Mbps, but if you browse through that site, they have more sample screencaps of different channels. Those normal SD channels are 4,xxx.

As for the DVD bandwidth feedback, I think you got confused with what I'm trying to say. What I want to mention is the channel Celestial movies, the broadcast stats were around 10Mbps, which is already the maximum specs of a DVD bandwidth. I did not compare anything on this channel with HD's bandwidth.

I can understand that screencaps is some form of truth. But to do 150 Mbps for a H264 file is completely unnecessary. Basically the channel is giving you an uncompressed DigiHD master tape content (the audio is not master audio). Imagine you recording it. You wouldn't want to keep it. Lastly, satellite bandwidth is limited. Giving 150 Mbps for one channel is completely wasteful - it's wasteful to uplink, it's wasteful to re-transmit and it's wasteful to downlink.
