i think its not coz HD channel are always in center 3....like 831,431,731 an so on....so, i think this is sd channel...

Not exactly its plus 20 of exsisting SD channel number I think.

maybe that's probably audio for SD channel are encoded in AC-3...

No but matches on 817 will be available on Supersport HD

I don't think there are enough locally produced shows shot in HD yet to warrant a Malay HD channel. Look at Xi Xun HD. They barely have enough shows shot in HD and many shows are repeated.

Seriously, I wish for Discovery HD and/or Star World HD

I think ASSP 3 just broadcast on SD feed.
But how astro want to handle 2 simultanouesly live HD BPL game? ASSP HD broadcast La Liga and Serie A in the weekend.
So just ESPN HD are available for HD match

Agreed ! what matters most for them is IN HOUSE HD is very much cheaper, They prefer in house to Discovery or the rest of good HD channels ! For marketing purposes an HD Malay channel free in the family pack for Beyond customers could be in the pipeline.

Do you think astro can achieve target to broadcast 15 HD channel this year?

Surely, if they said 15 HD channel, then 15 HD channel it is. Anyway, it's pity that HD channel only on satelite and not FTA (Free to Air) TV.

15 HD including in house channels is not a problem BUT 15 quality HD channels is the problem !!

I have successfully linked my account through astro website, can check latest bill, current package, change personal details.. but do you know how to change package from the website..., it seems not working for me...

Cost of a half hour program can be around RM40-50,000 per episode. An hour will cost around RM50-70,000. A TV movie about RM70-100,000. Multiply that for the number of hours per day.

Those numbers represent SD programming. HD programs costs more to produce.

External channels are cheaper and popular in the short run. In the long run, internal channels generate more income because they can sell the ad slots and DVDs of the show.
