Yes I meant airport as being flat chested tongue.gif Jamie had more but dunno if it's the result of those push up bra or not. Still, Jamie's nose kinda makes her looks weird and she must consider doing something about it. Well, Tiffany is pleasant looking but no CFM look like Jamie has. tongue.gif

Aikksss..turned this into babe talk pulak..better stop or else....

I don't think there are enough locally produced shows shot in HD yet to warrant a Malay HD channel. Look at Xi Xun HD. They barely have enough shows shot in HD and many shows are repeated.

Seriously, I wish for Discovery HD and/or Star World HD

It's not too bad,  Astro doing in house broadcast for BPL this year. Now we have two sets of pundits, Astro's and ESPN's. We can watch ESPN's pre shows then switch to ASSP for the live game.
*
Err..there's no ESPN pre-show on both matches screened by Supersport (Chelsea v W.Brom & Lpool v Arsenal).

It's bonkers really the current arrangement. ESPN/Star has the full schedule of "big" matches but Astro retain the right not to show this on ESPN. Apart from the appalling pundits (Peter Barnes?) who don't really give much analysis at all (Example...Joe Cole's red card last night, instead of repeating that it's a harsh decision, McMahon or Serbie would have said what was Joe Cole doing tackling a defender in the opposition's half?). Any match shown on Supersport will not get the commentary feed from Sky Sports thus last night's match (Lpool v Arsenal), we didn't get the Martin Tyler/Andy Gray commentaries. Jason Dasey is OK but it would help him if his pundits were more "analytical". Get Serbie back to Astro for goodness sake. At least he's more analytical though sometimes we may not agree with his opinion but that's the nature of a football pundit not someone who repeats or say something most already know.

First weekend of BPL coverage on Supersport was disappointing to say the least!

I just calculate based on RM20 HD service with 100,000 customer. Not include with cost for whole package and number of customer.
Just imagine astro have 1 million customer and everage billed is RM70 per month

RM70 x 12 = RM840 per year
1,000,000 customer (maybe more) x RM840 = RM840,000,000 = almost 1billion per year

I know it a business but they must has a responsibility to the malaysian people. icon_rolleyes.gif
*
What responsibility? Social? They are a monopoly for goodness sake, they don't have to listen to anyone. They may pretend they are listening but truth is, they don't give 2 hoots. Of course you can cancel but to those who got used to having multiple channels for such a long time already, do you think they will cancel?

Of course they are making money. From subscription fee alone is close to RM1billion as you calculated and that's not including advertisement revenues. Don't come and say pay TV is not supposed to have advertisements. That's naive and apart from the movie channels, you will not be spared from paying to view advertisements.

Not very sure if the commentary is from Sky Sports as the production is from IMG Sports Media which cuts to London studio where John Dykes & guests are based.

Cheers.

Mio Stadium? Singtel's Mio Stadium? It's a web based broadcast, no? And ESPN lost John Dykes and Patrick Kinghorn to Mio? Based on the screen capture, they had Alan Curbishley and Lee Sharpe as their pundits. Is Mio available as cable TV in Spore?

Back to Ass coverage of BPL....

Yes the set for the pre-show looks huge and even more so on 16:9. Yes I agree that the presenter and their pundits should not sit so far apart. The set designer ought to be sacked! And as for Jay Menon..I was hoping her "football" dropped out last night tongue.gif At least it would make things more interesting. I nearly fell asleep listening to Peter Barnes' babbles. I repeat I wish for Serbie to come back to Ass. BUT Serbie needs either McMahon or Masefield in order to click. It was hilarious when Patrick Kinghorn and McMahon locked horns the last few seasons. But it's all distant memory now.

Please Ass...spare us the agony and get better pundits. Those 3 last night were horrible. Speaking of which, who's the 3rd guy, a supposedly goalkeeper from Kelantan?? What a young ciku he is. I don't think he was even born when Liverpool last won the league.

ASTRO WILL HAVE THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES COVERAGE ON CHANNEL 820 FROM 3-14 OCTOBER..

just saw the ad but not sure in SD only or in HD also..

BTW, 2 questions..

1) How good is the the Food Network Asia channel and do we know the channel number?

2) Again..there have been those who have been crying out loud for Discovery HD..but do u realise the programming is not the same as the Discovery SD channel? I dont mind if astro give u Discovery HD now if those who want it are happy with it but it would be so annoying if they just complaining and screaming for Discovery HD then suddenly when they get it and they see its not the same as Discovery SD they come here and rant and complain again..
*
Well, NatGeo HD programming is also not the same with NatGeo SD.

Hooray for Star Movies HD!!

Frasier on FX HD is shown in pillar box mode. Not even HD. But Seinfeld looks superb in 16:9

This is the full report in english

Astro subsidiary sued for RM1.3b over B.yond box
UPDATED @ 02:06:44 PM 28-09-2010
By Neville Spykerman
September 28, 2010

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 — A RM1.3 billion lawsuit was filed today against Ananda Krishnan’s Astro subsidiary for breaching a “non-disclosure agreement” by a local company, pertaining to the use of its rain fade technology in the satellite television operator’s B.yond set top boxes.

The suit was filed by AV Asia Sdn Bhd against Measat Broadcast Networking System Sdn Bhd (MBNS), Astro’s subsidiary which enjoys an exclusive licence with the operator for satellite transmission.

AV Asia claims in its suit that MBNS had breached a mutual non-disclosure agreement with the private company over its technology to reduce rain fade.

Rain fade refers to the absorption of satellite or radio signals by rain or snow.

Astro’s signals are frequently interrupted by rain.

AV Asia’s suit was filed today at the High Court here by lawyer Ravi Sodhi.

Ravi said his client had entered into the mutual non-disclosure agreement with MBNS, prior to negotiating a commercial agreement on technology solution on rain fade.

“Rain Fade is a phenomenon that occurs in tropical countries, when satellite signals are disrupted by rain,” said Ravi.

He said his client had commissioned Japanese company MASPRO to utilise its research and development facilities to find a solution to rain fade.

However he said through tender documents issued by Measat or Astro his client learnt that the non-disclosure agreement was breached.

“The first defendant used the plaintiffs confidential information to launch the Astro Byond high definition product,” he said.

AV Asia named Tele System Elecronics (M) Sdn Bhd as second defendants.

Ravi said the second defendants were the current provider of satellite dishes to MBNS.

The company’s statement of claim also described Astro Byond as a “scam product”.

Consumers are required to install a new decoder and a new satellite dish for a month for a monthly payment of RM20 to received the HD programmes.

However the plaintiffs are alleging that MBNS knew that a new satellite dish was not required for the HD service but the information was withheld from their customers.

They also allegedly withheld from their customers that the new satellite dish, made with the plaintiff confidential information, had a built in rain fade solution.

Ravi said the company’s claim of RM1.34 billon is based on “loss of potential profits”.

The figure was calculated based on the 7.3 million subscribers which MBNS is targeting to get by 2020 as well as the estimated pre-tax profits of each satellite dish at RM183.84.

Ravi said they had attempted to settle the matter with MBNS but had reached an impasse.

“We are disappointed at how MBNS handled the situation,” said AV Asia chief executive officer V.Vijayakumar.
