cuz custom ROMS have some stock apps removed... laugh.gif

On top of what Neo removed (Plurk, Stock, Teeter), I also removed PDFViewer and Peep (as I use official Adobe Reader and Tweeter). I don't know how big is the impact on that but I think neo did some extra tweaking as well

Is it possible to set more home screens (additional), than only 1 main + 6 others?
*
You can use scene for that purpose...

Not something I like though since it's confusing and slow to switch

You want? I got backup the APK....

But why not try labyrinth... I prefer that over Teeter

I would really recommend dropbox.. much more convenient to share file between multiple PCs and your phone

Btw, after using Neophyte Nextsense 5.0 SB ROM for some time, I think it's great:

- Stable as usual, and not too bloated like other ROMs

- It's fast even for save battery version, quadrant score is 12XX, and performance drop not noticeable

- I like the stock Froyo lockscreen

- Better battery life - drops drastically lesser during standby (3-4% drop only if I leave it overnight), still drains while surfing web continuously (which is normal, don't expect magic here), but I think it drains 15%-20% lesser due to lower clockspeed.

@samurai, sounds like good reason for me to change ROM tongue.gif
but tot idle it shouldn't affect much since running at same 246 mhz?
or the older radio is affecting this?

wonder will he have a under volt under clock ver out soon tongue.gif
*
According to Neo, both normal and SB version save battery during idle time

Only difference is the maximum clock speed... since perflock is disabled in both ROM you can also get the normal version and use setcpu to underclock if you want to. Btw, I downgraded to radio 5.09.00.08, no issue so far

Hi, noob in rooting desire here.

Since now unrevoked support our htc desire, i plan to root it because it's so simple now. however there are some concern:

1. If i only do unrevoked rooting (following it's instruction in xda-developer), will my apps/settings/data in phone memory lost?

2. can anyone teach me how to restore my desire back to original state so i can receive OTA froyo updates later on when it is available?

3. any software/apps that can backup entire phone memory image, so i just only need restore that image file and all operating system/settings/apps/data automatically restored.

Many thanks!
*
1. No, everything remains the same after you rooted (it just gives you super user permission). Data is only lost when you do a wipe before flashing a new ROM

2. Flash with the RUU - RUU_Bravo_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.19.707.7_Radio_32.36.00.2 8U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126179_signed.exe. Link here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667

3. Nandroid in the recovery mode can do that (you can backup image back to the original state of last backup ROM). But if you're talking about restoring settings to a new ROM (after you do a wipe), use Titanium backup. In general, the steps are:

- Root
- Backup with Titanium backup
- Boot into recovery
- Nandroid backup
- Wipe
- Flash new ROM
- Restore settings with Titanium Backup

If something fails while flashing new ROM, restore the Nandroid image

Thanks for the clear reply. So the problem where HBOOT 0.80 unable to downgrade to HBOOT 0.75 RUU is solved? or it's not a concern here?

As i understand, to Flash with the RUU mentioned above i just need to run the exe and get the zip file in PC and put it in phone SD card, use the Clockwork recovery and flash with that zip file right?
*
The file I pasted just now (Official RUU for Android 2.1) will make your HBOOT becomes 0.80

To flash the RUU, you just need to - install HTC Sync driver, run the EXE and plugin your cable - everything will be wiped and replaced with stock ROM.

Since flashing Radio is very dangerous and can brick phone, any tips to avoid that tragedy?

btw, does flashing official RUU will also restore the Recovery (from clockworkMod -> default) ? is there anything else which installing official RUU won't restore to default?
*
clockwork mod is gone after flashing RUU... it will become exactly the same as your stock set

About flashing the radio, just be patient (it may stuck at the same screen for some time)... don't touch any button on your phone while flashing it, make sure the battery well charged and not like 20% left.

Anybody know where in Klang Valley can still buy Desire? It seems most Maxis have no stock. Even the regular RRP also got no stock.
*
I saw people buying it in PDA Experts Midvalley just now

Not sure about Maxis set though (I was lucky to get one from MV Gardens last month)

should i disable Signature Verification when flashing radio?

if i enable Signature Verification, it always say signature verification failed.
*
depends if you're downloading a signed ROM i guess

If it is a signed ROM and verification failed, means there's something wrong with your download.

That thread is created since Froyo OTA - and 1,584 replies is a lot IMO

Other threads (Leedroid, OpenDesire) exist way before that, hence the high number of replies

I've been using NextSense since 3.4 and it's very great and stable for me
