itunes use direct download for mp4 files?

ok... more aggressive throttling coming up.

what they told me is,

1. they are fine tuning the throttling thing..

2. pps is bandwidth hogger, they dont like it, cause connectivity problem and loading up their "server"??? .

3. contention ratio is not according to their website. its just serve as a basic guideline.

4. 50% of the streamyx user under HSI is affected by this so called "experiment".

5. they changed their equipment recently to support next generation network. something regarding ipv6 and bandwidth management/traffic shaping.

6. they are applying something like, as long can jalan sudah, speed is guaranteed locally, overseas content like from china are luar negara. they don't have control over the networks in china for torrenting and pps.

7. call support are informed to ask user to do a speedtest on speedtest.tm.net.my and speedtest.streamyx.com.my. if the speed is >80% of user subscribed, tell user is fine at here, no outtage. if user complain p2p or torrent is slow, tell them we can limit torrent if we want (stated in TNC) in a nice way while pushing users to upgrade.

8. they MAY announce another service interruption notice nationwide until a date specified in the annoucement for the experiment to conclude?

high speed internet. 50% of hsi users, not all because some area the equipment cannot handle yet. normally hsi users are 1m, 2m and 4m users, their adsl modulation is ADSL2+ and their capping speed for 1m is around 2048 and for 4m is around 4096 or 5012. this does not apply to all. if users is connected to old dslam exchange may be not affected. easy way to identify if a users is on old exchange is if the users subscribe to 1m, the users capping speed is 1024/384 while for 512 users is 512/256. tm have a few type of dslam. the old generation one is ATM based if i not mistaken while new one is IP based.

hold dulu. if they really throttle that aggressively baru cancel upgrade.

the whole point for this is,

TM OFFER NEW PACKAGE AND ATTRACTIVE PROMOTION, FREE NETBOOK!
and lock you in 2 years contract. you cant terminate because you have already signed for the tnc.

the only way to terminate is seek help from MCMC, try to make your line look as bad as possible, then ask mcmc to help you to terminate under unsatisfactorily service so no need to pay for termination fees and void contract.

i dunno about ytl. my place confirm no coverage. streamyx is my only choice.

nowadays if u baru get streamyx coverage, most probably it is ip based dslam.

they have a guideline to activating streamyx under HSI.
SNR margin must be >= 15 while line attenuation must <= 40. or else they cant activate it.
will have alot of problem like dsl blinking and so on.. but most of the contractor dont adhere to the guideline, they just simply on the modem and see. oh boleh adsl stable.. activate directly.

you can call them to complain, but they will ask you to do stupid troubleshooting that waste time and in the end they say will make a report for you, here take a report number, and then it is up to the technician either he want to come or not.

from what i can tell you is, TM is following every standard that MCMC set. so before you sign that 2 years contract, please read properly the terms and condition and even that they still reserve the rights to change the tnc anytime they like..

they have already implemented ip service control long time ago..

well the good news are they are rerouting the routing.

1am to 8am, 8am to 11am, 11am to 5pm, 5pm to 1am.

check speed on these timeframe for p2p and youtube/video files.

for timeslot 3 and 4, 20KBps.

they may throttle unifi soon?

at first i also planning to apply unifi if i go study at KL. but now this make me think twice.

unifi acctually not bad (for now), just wait until the user base grow big and we'll see.

Added on August 3, 2010, 2:39 amthey wont throttle unifi for now because streamyx user are more than unifi. unifi tak cukup bandwidth also what. even with 60gb cap they will still throttle your data. imagine someone seeding a mkv movie at 10mbps.

just a note to you, tm already have deep packet inspection. i think they can fix that, i suggest dont reveal it. keep it to your self or start a group and discuss about it.

rizvanrp, the method you are talking about works. but the things is is labor intensive, except if have a automated program or a server that do the work..

vapeace please dont leak or provide the solution for the method. i have tried that and its partially working. but for ppstream its quite troublesome.

final word. no enough bandwidth.


every system has their weakness. what have you done there is good. just dont leak it out if possible until things gone bad?

and bolehroute.

i suggest you get one. eventhough tm throttle less agressively, your speed is still slow.
